   Superb, practically Michelin star standard. All 3 courses were delicious and beautifully presented. The staff were attentive without being obtrusive. An amazing meal, glad we were able to get a table.

   Clever menu providing excellent choice for both fish and meat devotees. Rabbit and pork dishes were superb. Undoubted quality of starters does not necessitate borderline levels of quantity however.

    We go regularly to the Bay Horse and the cooking is reliably good. We had rabbit served in various ways last night and really enjoyed it. Good selection of beers and wines to go with the food.

    We regularly have lunch with friends at the Bay Horse. Its one of our favourite restaurants. On this single occasion I did not finish my main course of Pork tenderloin as the pork was rather tough and dry. Disappointing, as we have high expectations of the food based on many, very enjoyable meals. The glass of Sauvignon Blanc from France was also very disappointing and quite tasteless. However we will be back as I'm sure this was a "one-off" occasion

    A superb rural setting which sets the scene quite nicely for the interior of the restaurant. Starters, fantastic; Mains, a riot of flavours and finally the selection of desserts which I have to say was outstanding. Great service, and a good conversation with the table adjacent to us as well. One small criticism is the alcohol free beer selection. It’s 2022, you need to have more options. Non-Drinkers are the Vegetarians of the 1970’s - a bit of an oversight. All good though, and will be back again.

    We ate here for my sons birthday, who hasn’t visited the restaurant. As per my previous visits, the food was perfectly presented, and really tasty. Each of the servers were pleasant and knowledgeable. Can’t recommend this place enough - just wish there was another place like this closer to Durham.

    Dinned at the bay house to celebrate my partners birthday. From start to finish the whole experience was exceptional. Ambience, food and service were spot on. Will definitely be recommending and returning!

    Picked pricy food and expensive wine and got hit by a service charge which I didn’t notice till I left. My fault I should have checked . The food is worth it but I shouldn’t be penalised for choosing more expensive things.

    We have been to the bay horse a few times and it is one of our favourites by this particular occasion disappointed a little bit. The service was slow - no one took our drinks orders so we had their (very nice) bread course without anything, not even water, and we had to specifically ask for drinks orders to be taken when they came to take our food order. It also took a long time to get an opportunity to ask for the bill, and then in the end when no one came to take our payment after 15mins we just decided to go to the bar to pay. This doesn’t take away from the politeness of the staff though, they’re always friendly and welcoming. The food itself was delicious and I can’t fault it - portion size was great, flavours were great, it was beautifully presented too. The atmosphere was noisy, noisier than we’ve experienced before. It’s wonderful that pubs are open again after COVID, but the noise of the pub did come through to the restaurant and meant that we had to talk pretty loudly to each other to be heard. But as always the lighting, decor, candles etc made for a lovely setting. So overall, the food was absolutely as expected; truly wonderful, but the service and noise levels this time were disappointing.

    Top quality food and service. Antonio and Elly who waited on were friendly and attentive without being intrusive. My friends and I have dined at The Bay Horse for years and have never been disappointed. It’s a very special place and we plan to dine there for years to come.

    Another lovely evening, thank you On this occasion we sat in the upstairs area, very pleasant & private area which made our wedding anniversary dinner that little bit special (I was disappointed though that no one wrote on my plate like they did for the other lady celebrating her anniversary 🤣) Lovely food, good value & the staff, as always are very helpful

    Posh nosh, couldn’t afford that every week / month, but as a treat for the wife’s birthday it was perfect. Beautiful meal, nothing has come close in a long time, and we just returned back from Paris the day before.

    Turned up and we’re quickly seated but that’s as far as it does. Drinks order wasn’t taken and we were soon forgotten about. Watching the other tables seated after us receiving drinks before our order was even taken. Good wasn’t the best we’ve ever had at that price Getting waiting staff attention was difficult. And there was absolutely no rapport. Asked once if everything was okay and started to walk off before we’d fully answered. Loving quite local we thought it would stop the drive out to our other favourite restaurants if this had met our, not that high standards. But unfortunately it didn’t.

    Booked for a special birthday and anniversary meal with the food and service exceeding all expectations. Daughter had arranged, without our knowledge, the sweet course. She echoes our comments as the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
