A perfect celebratory evening with dear friends and the reception, service, food and ambience were just right
Lovely food and prompt, friendly service. Its a lovely place to go for a treat as quite pricey.
Great food, professional and friendly service.
Cant wait to go back
Amazing place, food quality and presentation outstanding.
Warm greeting and excellent food. Lovely staff. Would definitely recommend a visit.
Fantastic food, lovely staff. Will hopefully be back again soon.
The food was outstanding, the service first class and friendly, and the atmosphere was delightful. For a really special evening it can’t be bettered!
Good food but pricey and small portions. Service excellent 👌

Excellent food as usual. We had the prix fixe lunch which is incredible value at £21 for 3 courses (just 2 options per course, changed daily) - though the wine prices are eye-watering. The home-baked mini loaves with whipped butter, provided to nibble while you wait, are always exceptionally tasty and really interesting flavours.
Service was (unusually) disappointing on this visit. We asked our young waiter for extra bread to go with the pork rillette starter, which bizarrely had a tiny crisp with it but no toast or bread - but we gave up waiting and tucked in - it turned up when we had finished. And there was a a mix-up with our mains so we had to wait for them to be re-cooked. Very unusual for The Bay Horse.
Food was excellent as was the service, lovely place to celebrate our anniversary.
Very nice indeed
Nice vegan menu, although limited, but the food was delicious.
Definitely worth a visit to try the vegan menu if you want something other than a lentil curry.
3 lovely courses with wine to help celebrate a wedding anniversary. Great service by the front-of-house team all done with a sense of humour. Excellent and we'll be back very soon!
We enjoyed the Prix Fixe lunch menu which was good value. The food was fabulous and beautifully presented. We ate outdoors and setting was super. Only tiny criticism was that if you weren't an avid meat eater, the only option was Salmon as both a starter and a main but they were so differently prepared it was not an issue. All round excellent lunch.
Food was first class.
Dessert was such a treat.
Gorgeous Sunday lunch and great value for money, with 3 courses for £30. The portions were a really good, size (particular the mains). The service was excellent and all staff were really welcoming.
Could not be improved. High quality, but unpretentious
Thoroughly enjoyable Sunday lunch as ever. The breads are a great beginning and starters went down well. The roast beef was spot on and accompanying vegetables went down well. Everything served piping hot on hot plates not something one can always expect. As usual the service was spot on. Thoroughly recommended.
Excellent service and food. Very enjoyable evening
Exceptional food and service. Will definitely be back and highly recommend
Food excellent and value for money on the 2 or 3 course special menu..
This is our place to go for special occasions as it is very much a treat with the quality of the food and service. Love It.
Amazing food & fantastic service we can't wait to return 😀
Really nice food good service, above average small portions means you can fit in 4 courses
Superb food and a great outdoor dining experience in one of the wooden pods in the garden. Our friends from down south were impressed that such places exist in the wilds of the Tees Valley
Excellent Prix Fixe lunch menu which was delicious.
Excellent food as always. Lovely atmosphere. Great friendly staff. Some meals can be a bit pricey but you do get what you pay for, ie, top quality food. Definitely recommend 👍
Food excellent. Waiters were very helpful and cheerful which made experience of dinning very welcoming and enjoyable
Lovely ambience, food amazing. Will definitely be back
Always top class for food service and ambience. Thank you
Excellent as always, my fav place to eat out!
Nice place and nice service but the food is expensive and whilst looking amazing the main dish I had (sticky beef) was just a cacophony of fatty richness with nothing to cut through it. Also the ploughman's was served on a ridiculously shaped wooden board for some reason which made it impossible to eat without spilling everywhere. Style over substance. Sounds overly harsh though and maybe nitpicking. in general we enjoyed the experience.
The food was lovely and excellent service as always.
After being seated, within 2 minutes, we were asked by 3 different members of staff if we were ready to order our food. A little over zealous to start.
A great choice on the menu, a little difficult to choose.
Scallops to start. £15.00 for 2 scallops!! Perfectly cooked, but I should say over priced.
Duck confit for main. It was very good but not as meltingly tender as I would have hoped.
The setting was lovely and intimate in the dining garden, however they seemed to forget about us and it took some time before I could catch their attention to request the bill. Having received the bill, nobody came back to take payment leaving me to go to the bar.
10% gratuity is already added to the bill instead of leaving it to the customer to decide. Not a fair policy in my opinion.
Overall 3 stars out of 5.
Food has gone up a level! Less fussy and more confident to let quality of cooking, menu and flavours come through.
Always good and now excellent.
Service friendly and really well organised around covid space
Restrictions albeit wrong courses came out twice but both times were simply table mix ups and nothing was cold or delayed at all. Really strong, good wine list and will be back very soon.
Fantastic food and service as always. The ambience was spoilt a little as family with 2 children allowed them to run round restaurant which was noisy and not the best as everything else was covid secure and perfect. We will be back soon.
Fantastic Sunday lunch. Highly recommended
Food was outstanding and the service excellent - could not fault the experience in any way.
