The Beehive White Waltham
As always excellent service and good food
Excellent food, friendly staff and lovely atmosphere
Always a favourite local eatery. Great food, the plate sizes are perfect, the bread is excellent.
Everyone enjoyed their meals, but i did think the chicken dish was too salty. The chips were awesome.
Consistently excellent. Went out of their way to cater for my vegan wife and would do even more if given some notice, which was our fault. Great atmosphere. Super cooking and very good service.
Excellent food every time, always something different on the menu. Great friendly service
The food, wine, and the service were great, I took a client along with me and they had a really good experience!
We hadn't been to the Beehive in about 4 years when the food was superb. We went this time for a family Sunday lunch with two children (age 10 & 7). Our drinks came quickly and the starters followed soon after - however it was another 45 mins until our children meals arrived - by this point they were literally hanging off the chairs with hunger - we had to ask 3 times to find out where it was. Quite disappointed that they would't prioritise children. In fact our mains came before theirs. I ordered the cod which arrived on a bed of watery diced vegetables - kind of like a soup - it was entirely tasteless. The courgette fritters had no discernible taste either. My MIL had the pork which was nicely presented but very fatty. On the plus side the restaurant had noticed we were celebrating a birthday and came over with complimentary some petit fours.
Disappointingly I'm not sure we would go back - the atmosphere was nice but the food just didn't stack up against the prices and was quite bland.
I first heard about the Beehive a couple of years ago, and for no particular reason had never been, but I remembered that the reviews were very good when it first opened. On Saturday, we decided to take my family out for dinner, and as usual, the places we would normally go were completely full. The Beehive had space and looking at the reviews still seemed to be attracting good scores, so we gave it a go.
It didn't seem that busy, but that said, it does have quite a bit of space. The staff were attentive without being pushy but the real star was the food, and a few of my family are real foodies and are notoriously hard to please. We all had fabulous meals and would not hesitate to go back. Well done to the Beehive team.
Always amazing meals at the Beehive... lovely lunch with my sister with fabulous food and a cheerful ambience
Great place for lunch with friends. The set menu has fair choice and interesting dishes at a very reasonable price. Their beer is still well kept!
All excellent except the beef roast gravy. Was very thin and watery. Really needed a thick deep sauce to tie everything together.
Having looked at the Estrella list of Top 50 then I was really excited to visit the Beehive. I have been to approximately 20 of the Top 50 Gastro Pubs listed. And I guess I was expected top be blown away from a pub ranked 8th.
The experience was all good but not as exceptional I had anticipated. No reason not to attend
A wonderful location, a great country pub with fabulous restaurant and a menu selection that is first class, a regular trip out for us and highly recommended
Arrived early, so had drinks at the bar. Offered menus and led to our table. Surprised to find friends seated opposite, so had a good catch up chat. Ordered the fish pie and mussels. Both were delicious and a good portion size and very tasty.
We decided not to share on puds so I had a delicious pistachio soufflé and my dinner guest had the chocolate fondant.
All polished off with coffee and tea.
A delightful evening meal in great surroundings with discreet staff.
Go and enjoy the experience
Our 3rd time at this wonderful restaurant.
The food and service very special. The food at the Beehive is really, great! Beautifully cooked and lovely in the way it’s presented.
For us it’s worth every penny and always a lovely place to dine
Very good , excellent service. A little more expensive than expected but ultimately worth it.
Location is good, would be great in the summer. We arrived about 30 mins early to have a drink 1st. Proprietor remarked how early we were, although the table was ready. Staff rushed to take drinks order before I'd even put my bag down & 1 of our party wasn't at the table yet! Food good, not amazing for the price. Hard to attract attention of staff after the 1st flush of rapid drinks & menu ordering. Will try it again in summer, away from the busy xmas period.
Great food and wonderful staff, they made it a memorable experience for my fathers 88 birthday
Fantastic as always, had christmas party of 8 and service was amazing and the Party menu food even better. Great wine list too. It’s such a consistently amazing restaurant, you cannot go wrong here.
This was a lovely pub with great atmosphere & good service. I wax a little disappointed with my food because it was just not warm enough when it arrived & my friend & I thought it odd not to offer vegetables that we then had to order as an extra. For a pub meal with one glass of wine, I thought it was over priced .
Don't over expect in terms of the volume of food ( which was good.) My expectation was set by having Sunday lunch there some 18 months ago. I was underwhelmed.
Lovely venue and service, great food and selection - highly recommended.
Posto molto tipico. English pub con cibo ottimo. Personale molto attento e preparato.
From start to finish a great experience, we could not fault the service and the food was outstanding all delivered in very pleasant surrounding and environment, will no doubt be back again and again.
Friendly and efficient service. Light and comfortable ambiance. Excellent food. Would recommend.
The food is fantastic - but what makes the place special is the staff, if only all restaurants could be like this ...
Really enjoyed the parfait ...I had a lovely piece of cod for my main and my partner had the roast pork ...however the roast potatoes and the under cooked vegetables were disappointing...the potatoes had no taste and had a weird smell to them other than that it was ok
Very nice food - great flavour and top quality ingredients . Recommend the venison which was devine
Delightful dining experience. Excellent warm welcome. Food outstanding. Always busy, which is a good sign
Excellent Lunch on Sunday, excellent food and naturally attentive service, all very good and loved the table by the log fire.
Great food. Excellent service. Good choice of wines and by the carafe too. Will be back!
Bit expensive for everyday eating but lovely for informal occasion. Service generally good, but had to wait ages to order as could not attract anyone’s attention & extra wine order requested twice as had been forgotten. Restaurant v busy (Saturday night) and quite noisy.
Great food, lovely staff which made the evening extra special as we made this a venue to meet family we had never met before.. thank you all
staff were lovely food was excellent is a little expencive but sometimes you don't mind if its really good will go back
The food was excellent and the staff coped well with the dairy and gluten intolerance of my two guests. The Viognier was also excellent. The acoustics are not brilliant, loud conversation at adjacent tables was intrusive. I asked for the WiFi code but never got it.
Food fantastic, service questionable, sent food to wrong table, plates delivered to wrong people and facing wrong way. Long wait between courses. Been many times before and will come again.
We had huge expectations but desperately disappointed. We had hoped it was going to become our new favourite out of London gastronomic restaurant. Rabbit lasagne was a highlight but the fish and chips tasted strangely fat free (possibly one of those fat free fryers?) and sadly not better for it! Extremely quiet in the restaurant hence a complete lack of atmosphere. Oh well........
Excellent quality of food , drink and service . Narrow, but varied menu with vegetarian options included
The servers was polite and helpfull , but service was a little slow but it was sunday afternoon and they was very busy . The food was good except roast potatoes was hard as rocks , they shouldnt have left the kitchen especially as thesunday roast was a premium price £20 +
