The Beehive White Waltham
Great food. Excellent service. Good choice of wines and by the carafe too. Will be back!
Bit expensive for everyday eating but lovely for informal occasion. Service generally good, but had to wait ages to order as could not attract anyone’s attention & extra wine order requested twice as had been forgotten. Restaurant v busy (Saturday night) and quite noisy.
Great food, lovely staff which made the evening extra special as we made this a venue to meet family we had never met before.. thank you all
staff were lovely food was excellent is a little expencive but sometimes you don't mind if its really good will go back
The food was excellent and the staff coped well with the dairy and gluten intolerance of my two guests. The Viognier was also excellent. The acoustics are not brilliant, loud conversation at adjacent tables was intrusive. I asked for the WiFi code but never got it.
Food fantastic, service questionable, sent food to wrong table, plates delivered to wrong people and facing wrong way. Long wait between courses. Been many times before and will come again.
We had huge expectations but desperately disappointed. We had hoped it was going to become our new favourite out of London gastronomic restaurant. Rabbit lasagne was a highlight but the fish and chips tasted strangely fat free (possibly one of those fat free fryers?) and sadly not better for it! Extremely quiet in the restaurant hence a complete lack of atmosphere. Oh well........
Excellent quality of food , drink and service . Narrow, but varied menu with vegetarian options included
The servers was polite and helpfull , but service was a little slow but it was sunday afternoon and they was very busy . The food was good except roast potatoes was hard as rocks , they shouldnt have left the kitchen especially as thesunday roast was a premium price £20 +
We highly recommend this gastro pub and will definitely go back again.
Stunning food, as always.. Great place for a wedding lunch!!.. 😉
We have been to Beehive before and it was wonderful, however this time even before we manage to sit down and settle the waiter was asking what would we like to eat, one of my friends thought that the waiter was very pushy. Overall we will return, but hopefully it will be better.
Exceptional food, exceptional service, a wonderful evening. Thank you!
Superb food and service in this lovely owner operated pub/restaurant overlooking the quintessential English Cricket Pitch. Very serious cooking from Dom Chapman and team served by a friendly and enthusiastic front of house brigade. As Michelin would say Worth a detour!
Food and service was of a very high quality and delicious however the menu was a little restrictive in options. Ambience was pleasant until later in the evening when a large party arrived - it became difficult to hold a conversation over the table.
Although the waiting staff were very pleasant and professional, I felt a little intimidated into making food choices quite quickly and then had to wait a long time to settle my bill. This may be due to staffing levels on the evening but overall, I would eat here again.
Three of us each ordered different dishes and loved every mouthful. The dining room has a light yet cosy ambiance and the staff were professional. We would go every week if this was our local which I wish it was.
Food was nice but portions very small and therefore very expensive. Service decidedly average
excellent food, great service, overall, it was a wonderful evening. would happily go back and would certainly recommend to friends and family
First time at the Beehive and we thought it was very good all round
Great food super staff lovely place. Going again for Sunday lunch.
A lovely gastro pub in the Berks countryside. Lovely dining room overlooking the cricket ground, the food & service were excellent and I will not hesitate to return and take friends & family
Very good choice for a relaxing and enjoyable Sunday lunch with its own distinctive character and location opposite the village cricket ground. Great should the sun shine with a pint on the terrace and a match in action.
Very friendly staff. Good service and good food. Ambiance was congenial. Would recommend to friends.
Perfect as ever, cannot fault the food, service or atmosphere!
Was very disappointed on this visit, food and service both poor. A stark contrast to previous visits so not sure what went wrong. Wine was undrinkable and waiter got very snippy about it although another waitress and bar manager agreed the wine was “corked”. Food was ok but nothing great compared to many previous visits. On paying the bill 1 couple on table gave half cash £120 to other couple who wanted to pay whole bill in card. Unfortunately left the cash in the bill which was taken without any comment.... luckily realised mistake and went back for £120 cash, staff seemed surprised we had gone back, surely no one leaves that much for a tip, especially when service charge is included. Left a bad taste that they hadn’t pointed out mistake out?
We have eaten at this restaurant a few times in the last year and experience has generally been very good. However last Saturday one dish , the prawn and salmon starter was lacking in salmon compared with previous experiences. This was politely pointed out to the waitress who advised us that kitchen staff member preparing the food had changed from the usual one. Upon receiving the bill I was disappointed to see that no notice had been taken of the complaint, we were not only expected to pay the full bill but also the additional service charge. This suggested to me that no one had taken any notice of what we had said.
Not impressed at all
My pork was tough other than that a nice place to visit
Pleasant lunch with my wife. We sat at a table beside the large opened bi-fold windows. Excellent idea giving the diners the feel that they are eating outside without having their food blown cold by the wind.
I had fish and chips. The fish batter was a teensy bit oily but the haddock inside was perfect. Triple cooked chips on a par with Tom Kerridge's. My wife had roast Cod with a potato and chorizo broth which was well presented and tasty. Our Greengage Tart was OK but at £7.95 a little pricey.
Wine list is a tad on the expensive side. (fine dining priced wines but not fine dining wines)
However, the overall experience would certainly encourage us to return. Plus it's good to see that Dominic Chapman now has his own place, having eaten his food at The Royal Oak and The Hinds Head and always enjoyed it. (Bring on the Longhorn Chopped Biftek my Son!)
Love this place. This time we had a light lunch of two starters each ....both equally delicious and served with hot rolls...great cooking and lovely ambience.
Loved the food as always. A little bit of a wait between starter and main but food worth the wait. The basked Alaska might pair well with a tart purée to break up the sweet meringue and ice cream.
Fantastic meal with top notch service !
Beautiful setting also ....
Everything cooked to perfection and the homemade bread is awesome !
The only complaint we had was 2 of 4 within our group thought that the food was extremely salty.
Food was excellent and service better than has been on previous occasions.
Michelin star in the offing! Such beautiful food. Very good service.
Birthday celebration for five adults. Great ambience, nice large table, excellent menu . The food was all of a really high quality and all of us thoroughly enjoyed the whole meal. First visit to the Beehive but definitely not the last
Service was very friendly and with a smile from everyone, food was served efficiently, and was very good.
Bland and very expensive cod main course.
All very dull.
Veg charged in addition
Good food in a nice setting
Always a lovely meal at the Beehive
