Nice restaurant but a little noisy, which is no good for senior citizens who have hearing difficulties.
A bit pricy but this is darkest Wiltshire.
Good welcome. Excellent service from well trained staff. Meal was of a high standard.
A very pleasant experience.
Traditional pub food beautifully prepared and cooked.
As usual, we really enjoyed our lunch at The Bell.
very good food apart from boards and slates to eat off which is a pet hate as it tends to fall off onto the table! Good value for money
Lovely pub/restaurant. Nice feel about the place. Very popular. Great for food or just for a drink. Also has a coffee shop - particularly good for walkers. A good variety of food. I would say pricing is slightly above average - but then the pub is above average - so fair enough. Would definitely recommend, they try to go above and beyond to provide a very good service. Would definitely return.
A fun relaxed Sunday lunch. Most of food was a disappointment as it was so so salty. The roast potatoes were really good. The mackerel pate was delicious but served with a slice of lightly toasted supermarket white bread - very strange.
Joined friends at the Bell on Sunday. Everyone enjoyed it very much, service was good and very quick for our table of 6. My only criticism is I really wanted a salad as an entree and there wasn't one on offer. I ended up ordering 2 starters which was ok but not ideal. Everything was very tasty.
Bright and warm bar area and restaurant friendly service
Small starter but full of flavour
Main course larger likewise full flavoured
Good selection of wines
Overall price reasonable
Would visit again
Our first time here for ages - a slow decline into mediocrity had discouraged our visits. The goats cheese starter was delicious and a great way to begin a meal; not so the pulled pork in a crispy case. A little dry I am afraid and too many mustard seeds in the dish. The slow cooked beef also came in a similar case and was not as good as it could have been. Why bother with the case? The fish was OK, not spectacular but good enough. A local ale hit the spot as did a glass of merlot. We didn't venture on to puddings. Staff are often hard to locate but helpful enough when they arrive. A loud birthday party at one end of the room did intrude on the rest of the diners. All in all, an OK experience and we will be back but the Bell needs to up its game by 20% to compete with some of its local rivals.
The food was beautiful and the service was attentive as always. This is the only place we go for Sunday roast as nowhere else compares.
This pub certainly lived up to expectations, with really polite, courteous staff who made you feel very comfortable. I had the salmon dish which wa just amazing and my husband had the Burger, which he commented it as the ‘best ever’! We will certainly return!
My wife and I had a 3 course lunch from the a la carts menu and it was simply outstanding. Faultless! Can’t wait to return
The Bell has never failed to impress my guests and is always at the top of my list for a reliable restaurant with a menu using local food and beer from the Ramsbury brewery. All served professionally by a friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Charming service and fabulous food
Tastefully modernised pub/restaurant where the bar provides both ample seating and bar standing/sitting space. There is a good range of ales from their own brewery as well as lagers and other beers. The range of spirits and mixers is comprehensive without being excessive and the wine list is well balanced. The restaurant is a good balance between traditional with "proper" table cloths and napkins and decorated in modern light tones. Most importantly, the menu is imaginative without jeopardising the pleasure of the dishes on offer. Service in the bar and restaurant is excellent - attentive, friendly and informative.
Amazing Sunday lunch. Superb selection of different roast meats (plus a vegetarian option) and an array of fresh vegetables, all beautifully prepared and presented. The service was excellent, all the staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble for them. We have just moved back to the area from the coast so this will now become a regular haunt for us. Thank you.
excellent food and service and no pressure to move on after a leisurely sunday lunch. The beef was first class but one person had the pulled pork which didn't really hit the spot for a roast. He would have much preferred classic roast pork stuffing apple sauce and crackling
The dining room is spacious and relaxing .All in all a very good venue
Very very limited menu on a Sunday I am afraid to say!!
We were somewhat disappointed on our first visit to the Bell. On the positive side the bar area is pleasant, the overall setting of the pub is very attractive, the staff welcoming and the local beer excellent. My lunch of parsnip soup and cod was very good. My husband’s smoked salmon was very disappointing and the beef burger was acceptable but not exceptional. The main problem was the slow service. Everybody seemed to be waiting a long time for their food to be served. We decided not to have a dessert or coffee because it would have taken so long!
We did comment on this to the waitress at the end.
Service was slow even though we were early in the evening with only 3 tables occupied at the time - 6:45
Food was good but rather sparse and very expensive even though we are regular diners elsewhere
Would not return
Lovely,yummy food,in a great place.Superb staff,who always go the extra mile.
Service was slow. We had to find a member of staff for help. Waiter forgot to serve bread - given after starter. Food excellent. Staff polite. Restaurant perfect setting.
Very good food, welcoming atmosphere & very good & friendly service. Will come again.
Lovely place.Very friendly staff.Good food and drinks.
Good pre-dinner ambience in bar
Excellent local Bitter
Excellent attentiveness by Manager
Restaurant ambience - nice balance between pomp and relax
Food - imaginative and good quality
Wine - excellent merlot by the glass
Noise level - good ambient music; slightly noisy table of young guys who seemed unaware of other guests
Many years ago I was a frequent visitor to The Bell, which I loved, but have not been for over 10 years. This was a special treat for my wife, who has never been. Sadly I was very disappointed.
- the ambience was poor, very rowdy
- after after a few minutes choosing our meal we realized we had different menus, my wife choosing a dish from the wrong one
- the wine I requested was not available, though still on the list
- my wife's chicken breast was in a lump with a bone in it, and was very tough
- bread sauce should be available with chicken, but it wasn't
- the potatoes were over cooked and very hard.
In the circumstances I consider the pricing to be grossly inflated
It pains me to say all this, but it is just a measure of my great disappointment with a pub I had always held in such high esteem.
I have never been to Ramsbury and decided to go to The Bell after reading reviews. The food was first class even thou I was apprehensive with the cost of the menu but I was more than happy to pay those prices for the quality of the food. Service was on point and felt at ease the whole time I was there.
Beautiful food and would highly recommend to friends and family
Excellent choice of meat, fish and vegetarian food.
All really well cooked. Delicious!
Good kids menu too.
I wish that we lived closer. We were travelling back from a 3 week holiday. This was the best meal that we had and we had some really good ones.
We had breakfast the following morning too. This was equally as good.
Service was rather slow. When we arrived there was one other couple. By the time we received our food, it was nearly full. I couldn't decide if was down to the kitchen or the waiting staff. The food was good but our waiter didn't suggest any side dishes so the meal lacked veg/salad.
Always a very enjoyable experience. Good food, very pleasant surroundings and friendly and professional staff. A real gem!
Food excellent, beer and wine equally good and ambience delightful. Service, as usual, top notch.
The Bell always offers an excellent standard of food and service. I’ve eaten here several times before a will continue to in the future.
Outstanding food and beer from the Ramsbury brewery.
