The Black Horse Inn
Mediocre food for the price. Nice pub inside , wine selection quite poor and one of our table of 4 main course was inedible.. really dry
Great service, great food x
Lovely food, served by polite efficient staff, within a nice setting.
We have visited this pub before and enjoyed it so took some other friends who have not been and they really loved the ambience, food was great, good selection of food and want to visit again.
Lovely friendly service with a smile! Great food too
Really charming venue, food was delicious and freshly cooked and enjoyed by us all. Will definitely visit here again.
a cold windy day our table was right by an open window causing the table and seating to be covered in mess from the overhead hops.we shut the window and cleared the table ourselves.at least 3 of our party wanted to order the steak pudding but it wasn't available. No ambiance in that area of The black Horse.I have eaten there before but in a different area and had a better experience
Had a lovely evening with friends celebrating a birthday food choices was very good
A family Father’s Day celebration
Very busy lovely old pub. Food was good. Staff didn’t engage with us at all. We were pretty much left alone. Did have a vegan pudding option which I appreciated.
Service was very good and the time between courses was just right. Starters were very tasty but expensive for what we had - 3 large prawns for £9 is a bit steep. 4 of us had the roast which was very good. Everyone enjoyed the deserts and rhubarb was great. The Black Horse is a great pub and overall a very good experience.
Our first visit here and we will be back. The food was absolutely excellent and the environment itself is very traditional and well maintained.
I would recommend eating earlier so as to avoid long waiting times.
Awesome meal. Staff was great!! I’ll go back again
A great pub restaurant in a lovely location. Great menu with excellent quality food and top notch polite service. Even had one of my favourite real ales on tap!.
While slightly pricey at nearly 40 GBP a head (for 3 courses, 1 bottle of white wine, 1 glass of red wine and 1 beer) my party of 4 all had an excellent meal and would certainly return.
Only gripe was we was a little to near to the entrance of the restaurant so very busy we people passing and creating a little more noise then we would have liked. But we did book last minute, so have to accept table availability. Other than that a lovely place to go for lunch or dinner. Also dog friendly if you have a little pal you want to bring along.
Fabulous Sunday lunch with family. Amazing food, cooked perfectly, generous portions. Highly recommend.
Food was brilliant which makes it even more of a shame about he experience.
Staff was rude from start to finish even to the point where we questioned about a bottle of water added to the bill when we asked for tap water. Ordinarily i would not expect this to be an issue but the waitress took great offence to this, was rude and snatched the receipt off the table.
What makes it worse was to find out she was the assistant manager ‘Kimberley’
I have been to this restaurant a lot and have a great experience every time but after this last time i will not be returning again.
A long wait for drinks & service. The scallop starter was not cooked & overpriced & as we complained it was removed from the bill however, this set the standard for the rest of the evening really disappointed with the standard of cooking & consequently for our friends 1st visit very disappointed.
Lovely pub and ample parking. Great atmosphere amazing food and very helpful staff. Perfect for Sunday lunch with friends. Would thoroughly recommend.
Consistently great food and service
I wanted somewhere special for my 25th Wedding Anniverary, but was disappointed. The bar area was very cosy and welcoming. The restaurant was slightly chilly, but wasn't a problem because we sat next to a radiator that kept us warm, not sure about the other customers. Unfortunately the food wasn't up to standard I was expecting or as described on web page. We had scallops for starter but they were very watery (water on plate as well) and just warm and no flavour. One of our party had soup - which he said was very good. For main three of us had fillet steak, two looked like they should, but mine looked like it was the end of the fillet, half the depth of the others and slightly bigger in size, more like a sirloin. I wanted mine cooked medium but it was well done, the other two looked like they were cooked as wanted, but one of the other steaks was chewy. We didn't say anything at the time as it was a special day for us and I didn't want to end the day on a sour note.
Service was okay, but it appeared only one lady serving and took time to get her attention as she was busy.
We were 3 for lunch. We all had fish dishes which were excellent. The hake with beurre blanc couscous was to die for. Good wine list. The service was excellent and also unhurried. Would definitely recommend.
Good food.Great atmosphere.Lovely surroundings.Staff attentive and added to a great meal.
We went here to celebrate my father coming home from a long term business trip and whilst the location and venue itself were nice overall, we were disappointed. We walked though the door and were early with the intention of having a few drinks at the bar however, we were greeted and told this was not possible then ushered towards our table straight away. Our waitress did not introduce herself and instead ignored us until we finally managed to get her attention just to get some drinks. We ordered a round of drinks including G+Ts and beers which we intended to follow with a bottle of wine however out waitress decided to start taking the glasses off the table, we said that we intended to have wine to which very bluntly her reply was "A bottle" in a aggressive tone.
Starters were all good and i must say that their scotch egg with black pudding is the star here. Our Mains were nice but out of the six dishes we ordered, two were the tournedos rossini which both came out cold and for a £27 dish i expect it to at least be warm however it had clearly been sat on the side and cooked too early. As well as this although i know it is only a small thing but the mushy peas with the fish and chips had clearly been placed in the fridge which is fine except once again THEY WERE COLD.
Both the rossinis were sent back which was met with poor service from our waitress and not a smile in sight during the whole meal. Second time round the food was far better and was good, also the cajun lamb was delicious. Puddings we all very good aswell.
All in all, had their not been the issue with cold food our experience would have been far better but paired with the awful quality of service from our waitress who was rude and made us feel unwelcome we most likely won't be returning anytime soon.
Fantastic family lunch - food was perfect and a wonderful setting. Service second to none - young man front of house who was informed, prepared and really knew what he was doing and charming waiter from Sardinia who was wonderfully patient with my elderly mother. Really can't recommend highly enough and will definitely come back.
We stopped off at the black horse inn for Sunday lunch. I had the stuffed pork and my husband had the pork belly. The food was amazing and the atmosphere in the dining room was cosy.
I would definitely recommend dinner here - we can’t wait to go back - thank you 😊
We had a really lovely evening. The staff were very friendly and the food was tasty.
Only negative. I booked our table with 'open table' I phoned on the day to confirm our booking but they had no booking on their records. Luckily we were still able to book a table over the phone for the time we wanted
First time at the Black Horse Inn restaurant. Lovely location, easy to park, welcoming, interesting menu, generous portions, good service. Will certainly revisit when next in Kent.
Excellent veal and lamb meals, service great and nice ambiance,
We were put in an empty side room that had no atmosphere, drinks order was forgotten about. Food was good.
As always good service and cheerful staff, nice place good beer and food
Food was gorgeous but the service was not. Waited a long time for food and lady forgot sauce and had to be reminded. Also gave us dessert menus but never returned to take our order. In the end we flagged someone down got the bill and left. Was such a shame as food was really lovely. Maybe we caught them on an off day, not sure. Wasn't mega busy. Would try again if only due to the food and the beautiful surroundings
Have eaten at Black Horse many times. This time everything was junk - food & service
No rebate on bill
After having been here many times over many years and always thoroughly enjoyed the experience unfortunately this wasn’t the case at the weekend. Not greeted on arrival and actually walked passed by 3 members of staff, once seated our white wine arrived and this was far from chilled and then the normally generous for choice menu was found to have been scaled down with the specials less than inspiring. We sent the wine back and left without ordering food. Such a shame.
Wow what a nice place to visit. Staff very good well looked after. Food excellent.
After not such a great start , having to wait 30 minutes for our pre booked table, the food was to a very high standard and the table service was excellent.
Fantastic food as usual, great service from our waiter
Eaten here several times and have never been disappointed. Lovely setting, and delicious food. Friendly service and well worth the drive.
Heating not working and only ones in the restaurant. Everyone else was in the bar area even though we booked well in advance. Some of the Food was cool and only just ok. Have been before and fine hence the reason we went back
Very good food the service was also very good. I like all the little nooks and alcoves which made it very intimate and cosy.
