The Black Lion NW6
We had a fabulous family meal for Father's day. The service was brilliant, the venue was great and the food was delicious!
the waitress did not even remember us... very expensive for what it is...
I’ve been a regular at the black lion for a long time but was very disappointed with the quality of food and service on this occasion .
There was no chicken or veg roast . The beef was over cooked , the only veg on the plate was a small spoon of very grey cold cabbage and half a carrot with some potatoes .
The quality of food and service has definitely taken a nosedive
Friendly and efficient staff. Very good pub food, would highly recommend
Nice lunch but not great. Starter crab tempura delicious but roast chicken main just ok. Service was very good
Went for Mother’s Day Sunday lunch. Drinks were served in dirty glasses and the ones we were given as replacements were almost as dirty. Food arrived and the cutlery had something on it that made the food go grey/green when I cut it - no replacement food but a spare knife was offered. Quite disappointing generally and way over priced.
Overall really good. A bit disappointed with the Sunday roast.
Food was very good.
They always deliver as always! The table was ready on time, great spot, and great staff THANK YOU!
Excellent food and drink. Good service too. The pub is a nice place for a lunch or dinner with beers and rugby too.
We booked a table for four and when we arrived we were given a table quite small for 4 people. We needed to ask few times before they moved us to a bigger one. Nonetheless, Sunday roasts were tasty and we enjoyed the whole experience!
The bottle of £25 red Italian wine was served already open and boiling. After asking the waitress for a bucket with ice, she replied to me that red wine should be served warm!!!The rump steak arrived medium-well cooked when I ordered it rare. At that point I didn’t care anymore. Last time I visit this pub and I must say after 10 years livinf in London, I had one of the worse meals in town.
Hello, Thank you for your feedback. We do traditionally serve our red wines at room temperature although boiling definitely not -Perhaps courtesy of the lovely March weather we were having! I would also like to apologies about the cooking of your steak – If you chose to visit us again, which I hope you do, please do not hesitate to let your waiter know if you liked any amendments made to your dish and we will be happy to accommodate. All the best
A bright and lovely pub - service was a bit slow but it was an exceptionally warm Sunday lunchtime. Food is okay, nothing to shout home about - the roast chicken that my partner ordered looked alright and decently sized and I got the flat iron steak (bit tough) and chunky chips (deliciously crisp and not overdone). Priced for the West Hampstead crowd but you’re paying for the atmosphere really.
I normally recommend it but sunday we waited 2 hours for our orders and it has been really unacceptable
Good food, polite, friendly staff
Only issue for myself and my guest was we couldn't hear each other speak! It was very loud in there!
We had a very enjoyable evening. The service and food were excellent. It was quite busy for a Valentines night, but the staff were very attentive and the atmosphere was lovely, would definitely recommend coming back here again.
Food is absolutely amazing. The squid salad starter, our fish mains, pannacotta dessert... top notch. Great friendly staff, friendly atmosphere and dog friendly... the Black Lion is our new regular local! Thanks guys and girls for taking care of us.
Delicious Sunday roast - one of the best I’ve had!
A really lovely laid back place to eat and drink - lots of space and a fab outside area both front and back! My go to local venue! Staff are really friendly too!
A fun place with delicious food and great service!
Phenomenal food.. a little loud because of the Quiz but a very enjoyable meal nonetheless!
A good sunday lunch!
Perfect roast beef dinner and excellent friendly service as always
We reserved a table on Sunday night to have a roast. When we arrived and confirmed our reservation - no one told us that they had ‘run out of food’ and wouldn’t be serving. So we sat outside and purchased drinks and then when we went to order food - they then told us then kicthen had closed due to a lack of food and plates... At least ring the people with reservations to let them know you don’t have any food left OR tell us whenever we arrive so we don’t waste money on drinks when there is no food available!
We came as a group of friends to have a Sunday roast only to find they were out of roasts. So we order the burger to find out 5min later that they are out of the burger. Finally we order the prawn linguine ... only to find they are out of the linguine too!
On top of that we were sitting for a good 15min before someone came to the table to take our drinks order.
Look at the size of that bone in the pie we ordered, that’s when the meal came to an end!
Small apology offered.. and that was it. Shocked!
Comfortable, enjoyable atmosphere... a pub to suit all needs.
Lovely meal but quite loud in the bar area. Would recommend
Had a very nice sunday lunch here last sunday!
Had a brilliant Sunday lunch with my family. Had good vegetarian options for myself and my sister and the staff were friendly and enthusiastic about the food. Over all a great meal.
Lovely Sunday lunch as ever in a nice sunny spot. Food was delivered incredibly fast! Good service and friendly welcome.
We booked the Black Lion for Sunday lunch before a game at Wembley. The food was excellent. Service was fast and friendly and the restaurant had a really relaxed feel. We sat indoors but they have a nice outdoor area away from the road. What a great find, will definitely go back.
Visited during an England World Cup match but had booked a table with a good view of the screen. Service was good even though the pub was crowded and rowdy.
Options chosen from the menu - fish of the day and burgers went down well.
The Black Lion was a perfect place to watch the World Cup! TOP SERVICE and table! Thank you
The pub is always buzzing with people - great atmosphere but means they can run out of popular options. Food is tasty and well seasoned (fish pie was slightly too salty!) but a little over-priced for a neighbourhood eatery, West Hampstead’s not quite ready to be Islington! Would still come back if I’m in the area as it is reliably good.
Amazing staff, and always such a warm welcome. On a Sunday I can really recommend the chicken roast to share... get a second bottle and stay into the evening for the quiz.
I love the Black Lion which is a large and friendly posh pub with brilliant food. Eaten here often and never ever had a bad meal to date. Everything from bar snacks to the food in the restaurant is always excellent quality. The staff are also very helpful and friendly. The mix of people who go here vary in age range but this makes it a good environment. There’s also Board Games etc you can play while drinking with friends. The decent sized beer garden in the back is a sub trap during the day and has a busy atnosphere at night.Worth a visit!
Love this place
Best pub quiz
We went there on a very busy day as there was an important football match but the managers and the waiters did their best to attend us. Food was good and service was better.
Really good chilled vibe for Sunday Roast, Attentive staff with a relaxed professional approach. Food was excellent. Roast lamb was a really good cut of meat and the chef had given it loads of flavor. For me the portion size was perfect. The Black line really delivered a great experience, they have a good size terrace garden so I look forward to my next visit in the summer.
