The Black Swan Ockham
A delightfully eclectic eatery the pub & restaurant presents a stunning international wine list, a great selection of real ales and a cosmopolitan décor with open fires and plenty of comfy seating. During the summer months enjoy one of Surrey"s finest Al fresco dining experiences in our beautiful gardens.
Nice pub, great home made roast!
If there were zero stars I would have given that.
Didn’t get to food so can’t score that it is usually good.
But the service in arrival was so poor we simply stood and waited for 10 mins. Waiting for someone to greet us. And decided to simply leave instead.
Great place. Dips up and down over time but great at the moment
Excellent service, great food, lovely venue could juat be a little cheaper.
The staff were attentive and the food service prompt, tasty and excellent value. We were allowed to take our time and were not rushed out by the staff once we’d finished our meal. The noise level was perfect and we were able to talk normally but without being overheard by other diners.
The lighting was also spot on. We had a thoroughly enjoyable meal.
We had a wonderful Sunday lunch - the staff were very accommodating to our (many!) requests and the food was delicious, as always! Thanks so much!
Couldn't fault it! A 'GREAT' dining experience. Will definitely recommend :)
Very good pub food.
Service was poor, took 20 mins to be served Pre dinner drinks, which arrived as first course.
Was overall uninspiring
We went to the Black Swan for a quiet dinner on a Friday night, which was fine as it was a quiet atmosphere. I felt the menu was limited with a fairly small selection and opted for the fish, however was advised that it would come with the head and would not be filleted, so i changed to fish and chips, which was ok but felt quite greasy. It is a nice pub with nice outdoor areas in warm weather, but if i was looking for top notch gourmet pub food i would go elsewhere.
Medium to well done steak & no blood order came swimming in blood. Recooking did not solve the problem.
Nice place just off the M25/A3 junction. good food, good service. Recommend
Delicious food and wonderful service. Abby was a lovely waitress and looked after my family and I
Nice friendly staff it was very busy and we were late because of traffic but they still served us. We had to wait a bit for the main course but it was all cooked as we asked and was delicious
Service was very slow we waited 2 hours from sitting down for our mains . Can’t fault the food when it came but with service like that would think twice about going back .
Excellent service on an extremely busy day. Nothing was too much trouble. Friendly staff with excellent knowledge of the menu. Food came quickly and was very tasty. Well done. Keep up the good work!
Food is excellent, some great choices and very fresh. The atmosphere is also good, fantastic venue and setting. A great summer place to visit. We went in a Sunday and it was fairly busy but the staff we encountered were not overly helpful, pretty miserable and a bit inexperienced. Didn't massively impact our visit at all and the next set of staff that took over were far friendlier. It was 30+ degrees so give them the benefit of doubt. Definitely would go back.
Friendly, helpful and lovely food. Seated indoors as it was so very hot outside.
Lunch visit with friends after bank holiday morning at RHS Wisley. As usual, good food and service and an enjoyable experience.
Good choice of food, lovely outside dining area and good service.
We had a great family Sunday lunch at the Black Swan. The service was excellent, they were extremely busy but we had no delays and the food was delicious, which can be quite hit and miss with Sunday roasts but this although a bit pricy was worth it. They even helped present a birthday cake.
Everything was good except the time the food took to arrive.
Sienna was fab at serving the table and nothing was too much trouble for her.
We have enjoyed many meals in the past but Friday was very disappointing. Service was far far too slow. We also had to chase up our wine order.
The duck breast consisted of 2 small slices which was disappointing. The steak to share was unavailable and there was only one rib eye left.
The food and service was superb.
Vicky was our waitress and she was on the ball and gave us a great service.
I would recommend this place.
We were celebrating a 70th birthday lunch and had a great time with good food and excellent service from our waitress Jo
Great food and we had a lovely waitress. Lots of parking and nice decor.
As a first time visit to entertain family and celebrate a birthday and a homecoming, we found plenty of car parking space, the menu suited everyone and was really tasty, and the staff could not have been more helpful. We would certainly make our way to the Black Swan to repeat the experience.
An excellent experience for a Sunday lunch, made special by our waitress Jo. We will definitely be back again.
Very nice food, service could have been better as it was very busy.
Had a Saturday lunch here to meet up with old friends we hadn't seen for a while, three of had the fish of the day which was sea bass and cooked to perfection, the other was linguine, again superb. Spent four hours catching up and we were not rushed once. Would thoroughly recommend.
Eat there regularly and always enjoy it, the food was good but not quite up to usual
Had a very enjoyable lunch with a friend. The location of the Black Swan is rural and quiet, and the parking is excellent.
We both had the fish pie which was excellent, and the vanilla cheesecake to follow was superb.
The restaurant was Peaceful and relaxing, and the tables far enough apart for conversations not to be overheard.
I would heartily recommend this restaurant.
Lovely ambiance in quiet setting. Pleasant to eat outside with excellent food
We have been here before always excellent food and brilliant service if anything the portions are too much not that I'm complaining of course . We had Sunday lunch this visit very nice too , but as I said maybe too much on the plate , overall a lovley place to visit for a drink or a meal
The staff are amazing - you feel so welcome. The food is very good as well.
I thought the place tired.
The food looked very different to my last visit. I suspect now from the freezer and not cooked on site.
The lavatory was filthy and doors sticky.
The dining room was very noisy.
I will not be back.
Shame as I rather enjoyed going there.
Since stumbling across the Black Swan and having the tastiest ploughmans lunch ever we have now been back a few times both on our own and with family and friends; it has become one of our favorite gastro pubs with loads of parking and so family friendly with space for the kids to keep occupied. I have been to The Black Swan many times but recently the food has not been very good the beef was below par on more than one occasion which is such a shame as I have enjoyed eating here for many years but will not been returning in the near future.
Location is great be it in the summer or winter.
Excellent evening thank you for looking after me and my parents so well they enjoyed it tremendously. The staff were incredible - charming, friendly and professional. Delicious food. The small issue with dads meal was dealt with swiftly and kindly. Beautiful setting too. We enjoyed a drink in the garden before dinner. All in all a truly delightful night.
Great place for a family dinner with very welcoming staff and a relaxing atmosphere. Food was great with some interesting choices on the menu that makes it feel like a unique dining experience.
