The Black Swan Ockham
A delightfully eclectic eatery the pub & restaurant presents a stunning international wine list, a great selection of real ales and a cosmopolitan décor with open fires and plenty of comfy seating. During the summer months enjoy one of Surrey"s finest Al fresco dining experiences in our beautiful gardens.
Very convenient location. Parking was easy. Food was delicious.
Terrific menu, great wine, amazing food. Expensive but the best things always are
Lovely food, great ambience, staff very friendly and helpful.
Would highly recommend.
Lovely staff and kid friendly atmosphere. The food is delicious. I ll defiitely return.
We were four adults and a baby and two dogs which made things a little awkward to begin with trying to fit us in to a spot. Although the food and ambiance was excellent the service and speed of service brought down the whole experience.
Really lovely pub, lots of character. Very good food and service.
Normally yes but this visit was the worst ... and seeing it was for my mums birthday was even worse
Food was delicious when it arrived. The wait was a little too long with 3 hungry kids. Not sure I would go back.
We have visited a few times recently and found that the service is extremely slow and today was no exception, we were at the table for over an hour before our main courses arrived. It’s a real pity as the surroundings are lovely and the food is quite good.
Such a shame - lovely pub, pleasant staff and reasonable food. But the service was shockingly slow, it took 40 minutes to get a drink, we had to ask for menus, for the order to be taken, the bill … to pay! I think we could have walked out without settling the bill and no one would have noticed.
Great Sunday lunch experience
Nice pub but food expensive for quality. Pork very fatty. Food not as described on menu. Nice atmosphere and staff.
Lovely place to go for Sunday lunch- spacious and well decorated. Great Sunday lunch and and amazing sticky toffee pudding!!
Great evening having dinner with friends, including 4 children. Only criticism is the the two children pizzas came out about 5 minutes after everyone else's main courses and were boiling hot, great as just out of the oven, but not great for 2 small hungry children.
The main was not very nice at all, Rosemary fries were more like frozen oven chips with cheap rosemary salt, could have made homemade ones with a sprinkle of fresh rosemary. Steak fat not cooked, very fatty steak and side side full of thick stalks. However our waitress was lovely and accommodating, couldn’t fault her one bit! But we won’t be going back again. We used to go many years ago and it used to be so nice, such a shame! Overpriced and overrated in my honest opinion
Lovely place, nice food and good service, it is on the pricey side.
We really enjoyed our Sunday lunch. Despite being very busy the service was excellent too. More of a restaurant than pub vibe. Would return in nicer weather, to sit in the garden.
The Black Swan is smart with a contemporary interior. The food is excellent.
Great environment with good food and wine. Friendly service, although when busy it took a little longer - we were probably spoiled by arriving early evening when it was quieter.
Our seating was inside, but outside areas are plentiful and nicely arranged.
We've been before and will absolutely be going back again
Lovely setting but very poor service. Totally understaffed and food took over an hour to arrive at the table.
I often judge a restaurant by the loos - horrid. Flooded and dirty with bins overflowing and the sink and floor were sopping wet.
Food was good, service was nice enough but took ages for each course to arrive.
Menu was not really a pub menu. It was a beautiful day which brought many customers, they couldn’t cope. They should have extra staff to call on. It is a nice pub with lovely grounds, the food was fine but I wouldn’t rush back.
Excellent food and service provided. The fish pie was superb.
Lovely meal at The Black Swan last Friday.
Food was excellent and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Sat out on the terrace as it was a sunny day with my friend and her dog as The Black Swan is also dog friendly. Overall, couldn't fault it.
Thank you we had a very enjoyable meal, and the staff where very attentive and efficient. We were made to feel very welcome, we have been having our annual meet up with our Australian friends for a number of years at the Black Swan, but this last time the meals were the best. Many thanks.
Nice pub, great home made roast!
If there were zero stars I would have given that.
Didn’t get to food so can’t score that it is usually good.
But the service in arrival was so poor we simply stood and waited for 10 mins. Waiting for someone to greet us. And decided to simply leave instead.
Great place. Dips up and down over time but great at the moment
Excellent service, great food, lovely venue could juat be a little cheaper.
The staff were attentive and the food service prompt, tasty and excellent value. We were allowed to take our time and were not rushed out by the staff once we’d finished our meal. The noise level was perfect and we were able to talk normally but without being overheard by other diners.
The lighting was also spot on. We had a thoroughly enjoyable meal.
We had a wonderful Sunday lunch - the staff were very accommodating to our (many!) requests and the food was delicious, as always! Thanks so much!
Couldn't fault it! A 'GREAT' dining experience. Will definitely recommend :)
Very good pub food.
Service was poor, took 20 mins to be served Pre dinner drinks, which arrived as first course.
Was overall uninspiring
We went to the Black Swan for a quiet dinner on a Friday night, which was fine as it was a quiet atmosphere. I felt the menu was limited with a fairly small selection and opted for the fish, however was advised that it would come with the head and would not be filleted, so i changed to fish and chips, which was ok but felt quite greasy. It is a nice pub with nice outdoor areas in warm weather, but if i was looking for top notch gourmet pub food i would go elsewhere.
Medium to well done steak & no blood order came swimming in blood. Recooking did not solve the problem.
Nice place just off the M25/A3 junction. good food, good service. Recommend
Delicious food and wonderful service. Abby was a lovely waitress and looked after my family and I
Nice friendly staff it was very busy and we were late because of traffic but they still served us. We had to wait a bit for the main course but it was all cooked as we asked and was delicious
Service was very slow we waited 2 hours from sitting down for our mains . Can’t fault the food when it came but with service like that would think twice about going back .
