I thought the food and drinks were disproportionately expensive.
Wide selection of varied dishes with lots of flavours. Staff were really helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Good value for money.
Will definitely return.
4 of us shared 9 tapa's and it was ample for us, the food was lovely and very tasty, wine and service was spot on.
We will be back soon, would recommend this restaurant, great value for money.
Brilliant food. Very authentic and tasted great. Good selection of tapas and brilliant offers. Staff were attentive but not over bearing.
We will definitely visit again if we stay on Chester again.
Have been here many times and always excellent, and my favourite dish is the chorizo, however it was not as good this time someone been heavy handed with the chilli oil hmmmmm, it lost that savoury sweetness with background warmth and just became too hot and spicy all other dishes were fine.
Unfortunately we were a little disappointed with the food. Hummus didn’t taste right and veg with it was a little limp. The other dishes we had were mediocre.
Excellent service and fantastic food. Would definitely eat here again.
Lovely meal as always with plenary of vegetarian options
Spent my anniversary at Blue Bell and it was absolutely delightful. Had a selection of tapas - gorgeous food, very flavoursome. Sangria was the perfect compliment to go with it. Their desserts were absolutely brilliant too - both in display and taste!
Food was great as always and the pleasant and helpful. However I did appreciate receiving an e mail afterwards from Opentable scolding us for not turning up when we in fact we did and spent a considerable amount of money.
Fab place - been a couple of times. Lovely old and quirky building. Lovely friendly staff.
We had a great pre theatre meal at The Blue Bell. We were in a party of 6 and everyone enjoyed the food and location.
Fabulous, the hanging kebabs were amazing. Lovely restaurant with nice unobtrusive staff. Would highly recommend this restaurant.
Excellent evening with great food and friendly staff
5 star food and service. Great choice of food. All good.
Average food expensive alcohol seated in a corner squashed in on uncomfortable seats;dont know why because there was plenty of room in restaurant friendly staff would not come back again.
The food was great, the service was excellent and staff were friendly. We will certainly be back again soon.
Excellent tapas in a lovely old building. Well worth a visit.
Excellent food. The most authentic tapas outside Spain we've had! Good music, decor and cleanliness. Friendly service.
Excellent service, warm welcome very attentive staff. 1st class
everything was excellent from the food to the service to the setting
Although as always, I really enjoyed my meal I don't think the new tapas menu is as good as the old one . On the lunch time deal ( which is excellent value) most fish dishes have a supplement , the chicken and chorizo skewers are no longer on the menu and the new chicken wings have an overpowering sauce.
Dined here early evening. Ordered an abundance of tapas and can honestly say that every last thing we ordered was delicious! If I had to have one minor gripe, that would be that the pigs cheek dish could do with being slightly bigger than just the 1 piece. Service was lovely and the jug of rose sangria went down a treat. Such a hidden gem and well worth a visit.
Recommended to us by a friend - we’re from Liverpool so thought we’d check it out, my husband doesn’t really enjoy the idea of tapas but he loved everything !! The sangria was also lovely & the selection of gins... it’s a perfect place for a date or girly catch up - service was also great and our waitress couldn’t have done any more. we’ll definitely be returning
Really friendly service from great staff. Food good for veggies and vegans. Nice tasty food.
Had been looking forward to trying this restaurant for ages. Really loved the menu. Decided to sit outside. A rather loud and noisy couple spoiled the ambience somewhat, but the garden was otherwise pretty, the furniture basic and casual, but good enough.
We chose a very good bottle of wine which was brought pretty quickly and left on the table in a chiller. We weren't asked to taste it and it wasn't opened and poured.
We ordered 2 appetisers. Boquerones and padron peppers. Both fine, although the boquerones consisted of just 6-8 anchovies which even for a tapa portion is small.
Next we had chosen patavas bravas, nothing wrong with these but hard to mess up square chips and sauce, cangrejo - spiced crab cakes with sweet corn and mango salsa. These had no spice and there was no mango, no salsa, just corn and onion. The ribs were ok but didn't quite fall off the bone, the sauce tasted ok. The chicken wings were relatively tasty but again, didn't wow and one still had hairs on the skin. A bit off putting. The Gambas Al pil pil were smaller than expected, a bit overcooked so chewy, not very flavoursome and were sitting in a cazuela (clay dish) full of oil and chillies. Usually tapas are served in the dishes cooked in so the oil would-be sizzling and burning off. These weren't. The dish was cold. Disappointing.
They did ask if everything was ok and it was not bad enough to complain so we said yes, but compared to tapas we have had elsewhere, not as tasty, slightly smaller portions (even for a tapas) on some, not the best quality and expensive for the experience.
It was my fiancé's birthday too so added to the disappointment. Cost just over £60 with wine.
Wouldn't recommend. Won't be going back.
This was a very good afternoon we enjoyed it the waitress was very good the service was excellent but it was a bit quite but would go again thanks
We felt that our meal was very rushed. One hour from start to finish with 3 courses! No wait in between courses and we were done for 8.30.
Really pleased we chose this place. The tapas menu is not extensive compared with many other places, which enables them to focus on the quality of the food. We shared five dishes between two, which was ample for us, and enjoyed all of them.
Meals was covered in oil......Alot fat on steak....also waited a long time
Every dish ordered was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our tapas and sangria lunch.
I will definitely be back.
Food was very good and authentic. We were the only table of 6 in the setting and so thee wasn't any ambience at all may be better in the evening.
For the experience the food was expensive compared to other tapas venues.
Lovely quirky place, good selection of tapas dishes, fantastic chorizo in red wine! Some dishes a bit pricey but overall worth a visit! Service was excellent.
Great food in central location in Chester. Well worth s visit.
First visit and we loved it. Great food, relaxed atmosphere and good service, would highly recommend.
We were looking for a seafood restaurant and the Blue Bell already had great reviews. Now we’ve eaten there it’s easy to see why. Fantastic food and wonderful service!
We thought the setting and outside table was super and the service and attitude of the staff was very good . And very helpful nothing was too much trouble and the food finished it of superbly .
The wine was a super choice as well as reasonably priced . .
A brilliant evening we will be back . .
Excellent food and brilliant staff. 5*
Brilliant food and service very pleased with our meal and will certainly return
Great menu with something for everyone. Food was excellent as usual, with good drinks selection to compliment the meals. Patient and attentive staff with relaxed atmosphere. Have eaten here several times and the quality is consistent. Would recommend to anyone.
