Convenient central location for a meet up with friends. Good choice on the menu. Nice comfortable atmosphere. Portion size and food disappointing. Opted for pork from Sunday roast menu with free flowing Malbec. The meat was overcooked and dry with very small portion of vegetables. Served with an oversized, dry Yorkshire pudding. There was no gravy on the plates or brought with the meal. Between 6 of us we had to keep asking and wait for this to arrive. Not once were we asked if we would like any sauces. However, in spite of this, the free-flowing wine made it reasonable value, but food was disappointing. I would choose something different next time.

We have eaten here many times before but our experience on this occasion was very poor. We waited ages for our food which when it finally arrived around 50mins after ordering was cold so sent it back and was brought out shortly reheated when we question this we were lied to and told it was fresh but my husband had taken a piece out of his meat which you clearly see it was the same dish we did complain to a manager who did give us a complimentary drink but we will not be returning there again which is a shame because we have stayed at the hotel many times.

Upon arrival they were not aware we were dining and said that I never stated it when booking.....tbh I wasn't asked. We were placed on what must have been the darkest table we had to use our phones to read the menus and just to see what our food was like.
Service was extremely slow, we felt like the forgotten table. Every course we had to ask where it was. Starters - were good but nothing special. Mains - all 5 of our dishes were barely warm. We sent them back. When new dishes arrived they were smaller in proportion and some items missing.
When we did complain they advised they would remove the service charge.
I have no intention of eating here again and would book for just drinks.
Very disappointing and expensive for what we got. I was surprised that I had to pay £10 for a non alcoholic cocktail.

Terrible service. Took 2.5 hours to get our food. The food quality was very poor. Very expensive and stressful as food was not coming and everyone was super hungry. I will not go again.

Beautiful venue. We booked to come here for dinner but the table we were seated at was very uncomfortable and the staff weren’t particularly friendly. We stayed for one (very nice) cocktail before leaving.

Table reserved months in advance. Seated at 3 small round tables and sat on low level bar/club chairs.

Would have been OK if we were having olives and nuts! Not acceptable for a meal.

We left.

The venue and its location are really the attraction. The food is expensive, the portions small and the cooking pretentious - the « charred » baby leeks were so charred they were inedible and the King prawns over cooked and insipid.
The live music is a nice touch but so loud one can barely hear oneself think - let alone have a conversation over dinner...
Some improvement to be made in this upmarket venue.

I have to say we were a little disappointed with our experience at the restaurant. Service was slow and multiple mistakes were made with our order for drinks and food.

We also had some simple requirements for a celiac in our group which were consistently forgotten despite multiple reminders. Finally one of our group was served an alcoholic Beverage when she specifically ordered non-alcoholic and reminded staff of this which I thought was unacceptable.

The location itself is perfect and this may we’ll have been due to a busier night than usual but I feel I must review this honestly and provide this feedback.

Great location. Beautiful space. Very very slow service, even for drinks but especially for food. Inept waiting staff, who struggled to comprehend the order or get it right.

Lovely ambience. The staff are friendly and attentive. I asked for a quiet table and they placed us very well. The chips were a little under cooked, to be honest. It was a busy Friday night, so I understood that the service was a tad slow. However, having said that it was a lovely evening.

The ambiance was good, lively and busy. We opted for the Christmas Menu which was disappointing. Starters were okay but turkey meal was cold on arriving which impacted on the overall flavour and enjoyment. Puddings were disappointing especially the Eton Mess. The best advice is to try the A la Carte Menu as after our unlucky night with the Christmas menu, I can’t recommend it. Service while slow due to business of area was very friendly and we were not put off by delays.

I had planned a dinner for a special occasion at the 'Booking Office', but unfortunately they made it anything but special! We waited 45 minuted for our table to be ready and only found out that it eventually was by checking with the waiting staff for the third time. It took another half an hour for them to take our order and then a further 30 minutes for our starters to arrive and when they did the soup was cold and it took another 20 minutes for them to warm it up and bring it back. The bread was stale and the food was generally pretty average.

Some of our party had to catch a train after dinner and we left 2.5 hours for dinner which should have been plenty of time, but the service was so slow that we had to cut our meal short, despite explaining our timescales to the staff.

I was a waitress for many years whilst at university and always tip generously for good service and for the first time ever, I removed the service charge for the bill.

It was an unexpectedly disappointing experience with a fairly hefty bill at the end of it.

Terrible!

2 hours to get a main course and when it arrived it was the wrong order. I asked for this to be discounted from the bill and was offered a free tea or coffee.

Awful awful! Would never return.

We arrived early but were fitted in. However they wanted the table back after 1 hour- not a relaxing start. We were then given only the Xmas menu and had to ask for the other. Drinks took 15 mins to arrive (out of our precious 1 hour dining allocation), and then we had to ask for a wine cooler for the bottle. Food arrived reasonably promptly and was ok but the bread we were served was tough. We were really hungry so we ate as much as we could. Expensive for what it is. £79 including service for 2 mains and a bottle of wine.

What an awful place. Please just don’t waste your time or money. They had run out of Sunday lunch. The waiter couldn’t speak English and super slow. The chairs were all torn and tatty. The food they did have was horrid and sloppy. I would never go back.

There was a live band and singer which was lovely playing some great classic songs.

I enjoy meeting guests here for informal business meetings but disappointed with what appears to be a more limited lunch menu trying to offer perhaps more sophisticated choices but missing some popular essentials that used to be offered as options feeling let down a little especially with so many alternatives close by continue to enjoy the ambiance and heritage

We had a nice lunch here before departing on the Eurostar. The food service was a bit slow and there were next to no salads on the menu for lunch. It’s sort of “business lunch-y” but the space is very interesting, architecturally/historically. The cafe/bar next door might be nice too - much lighter and airier.

Whilst the Booking Hall is a lovely place the lunchtime menu was a little limited.

Myself and my guest both had the Sea Bass which wasn't very nice.

The fries and vegetable were good but at £90 for lunch with only water it was very pricy for what it was.
