The staff were very accommodating to our request for an extra chair for an unexpected guest. The restaurant was busy and , consequently the service was quite slow. We were not in a hurry but if we had been, the wait for food and drinks might have been annoying. The food was very good and there was a buzzy atmosphere.
Wasn't really what we expected. Looks lovely from outside, but its a bit dated on the inside. Portion size was small. Service was ok but nothing to write home about
Not as refined a I thought it would be and extremely noisy on a Thursday night. Food was decent but not amazing.
Relaxed restaurant atmosphere, good location and good food selection
We ordered several different dishes, and while the presentation was lovely, the food was just OK. Everything was edible. Nothing was horrifying. It was just, meh. Rather bland. Boring. It’s like they put all their effort on being cool and instagrammable and no effort into making the food taste good. The service was kind, though there were multiple mistakes. The restaurant really is lovely, but we won’t be back.
They didn’t have the booking
1st time at the Botanist restaurant and am very impressed , . Energetic staff gave us a feeling of being looked after. The food we chose very enjoyable, extreamly well presented, enough to satisfy. We had enough room at the table and did not feel crowded. No one pushing us to end a lovely experience .Thankyou to all staff
Recommended by hotel. Pricey - food good but not very hot.
Unfortunately my friends and I were left disappointed after our visit on Saturday - such a shame as we had been so looking forward to it after reading all the good reviews.
Met with friends here prior to a concert. Almost late for concert due to slow service, 25 minutes before we were offered a menu! Very noisy ground floor restaurant because of proximity of the bar. Conversation all but impossible. Food was wonderful! Bit costly but then this is Sloane Square! Will definitely come again but ask for table well away from bar.
Waiter, Manda(?), very nice and helpful
Having been there before, I was looking forward to it. On this occasion, the food was poor, the service very slow, waiting staff seemed very subdued.
We had theater menu. Chicken and créame Brûlée were good.
First visit thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We were a party of 4 and all found the food and service excellent.
Really lovely family brunch. The manager was extremely helpful and service was great. My only very slight criticism was the drinks orders were a bit slow. All drinks come from the bar and they seemed pretty busy. However all in all a extremely pleasurable experience and we will definitely return.
The food was okay... nothing particularly special. More pub grub than I was expecting...
Our food came late and without one of the sides. The bill came with an extra £50 added for our glass of rom and coke. This was removed after we noticed it, but they were not very apologetic, we felt they thought we won't notice.
I like this place a lot, the food is really good (great value for money), the drinks are very good. The atmosphere is great! Sometimes it gets too crowded in the bar area but even then it's a nice place for different occasions like drinks with girls, dinner with friends or work lunches... Well done people!
Wine was warm and not much atmosphere..
The Botanist in its day was the place to go to on Sloane Square. It is now the place to avoid. The food is substandard, including running out of Sunday roast! How does that happen. Service is slow and they have packed in the tables complicating service and increasing the noise levels.
The food was fine but nothing spectacular (I was there for brunch and the eggs royale was very average). Having said that the atmosphere was great and so were the staff (they do very politely stick to the time allocation for your table though so be prepared to leave 1.5 hours in). It’s a good location and the restaurant area is a lovely place to sit, albeit quite tightly packed. Go and make your own mind up, but being honest you could probably do better.
That Oak smoked salmon though! Delicious! I will definitely return and recommend to friends and family!
very nice experience and would certainly return. The restaurant is quite crowded and noisy, but we were allocated a nice window table, as requested. Food was very good, as was the service. Not cheap, but then it is in Sloane Square and certainly not unreasonable.
Excellent food and wine and very friendly efficient service. One can’t ask for more.
An enjoyable dinner with a pre-theatre menu or a la carte. We've eaten at The Botanist on different nights of the week. Service is faster and easier earlier in the week, though it is always polite. The food is the same high quality. It is quite expensive for what you get, but the convenient location must merit a high rent bill in your food and drink! We'd certainly go back. Fish, fishcakes, and salads are all recommended.
Maybe just for the bar rather than the restaurant!
The coconut pot is to die for!
The avocadotoast also highly recommended. We added poached eggs, perfect match!
Excellent all round but the acoustics are poor and the noise levels are high, particularly if there is a noisy party nearby.
this did not live up to the reviews we read.
Our starters were wrong and we were left waiting for an hour for our main course .
Sadly we gave up , paid for our starters and left .
Will not be returning .
The Botanist is two venues in one. When we arrived early on a Friday evening it was rather daunting to be met with crowds of noisy people in the steeet and in the bar (both of us being over 65!). However, we were then shown through into the restaurant which was quieter. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was good. Would we go again, yes probably.
Ordered a bottle of wine, which took 20 minutes to come to the table, the bottle was then taking away and not refilled, we were sat with empty glasses with our food. Our starters and mains were brought to the wrong table. Did not deserve the £20 service charge that was added automatically in my opinion.
Dined at The Botanist on Valentines evening. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the food was excellent and I would like to make a special note in regards to our waiter Maged (apologies if I have spelt it wrong) he was so attentive , friendly and helpful and really made us feel special.
Thanks again and we will be back soon

Fabtastic location on sloane sq. lovely lighting comfortable but slightly lacking in buzz the night we went. Strange. Food was good but not fabulous. Service was very well-meaning but a bit amateur made a few mistakes. By bringing us the wrong courses meant for another table! But the staff was extremely nice and we had a great main waiter who is Egyptian.
Attentive service and genuine interest in allergy issues
Really beautiful food in a lively, buzzy setting
We wanted to eat quickly before going to a concert. Perfect solution! Bar meal - a hamburger plus plus - a beer and a glass of wine. In at 6.15 out at 7.15. Set up for the evening.
Very quiet on a Saturday evening which rang alarm bells. Food was nice but staff took no notice of 2 separate notifications of a food allergy. We were just finishing off when the bouncer -not the waiting staff- came over from the door to tell us they were closing in 10 minutes. When he was asked for the bill he just repeated "we're closing in 10 minutes". That was the first we had noticed the time. No one else had mentioned the time or offered the bill. There were so many other ways the waiting staff could have dealt with that situation but to send the bouncer over was just ridiculous and rude. Would definitely not recommend and won't be back.
We have a lovely meal at the Botanist, and they were extremely accommodating with one of our party's serious food allergy. Thank you, we will be back - Amy
We have visited many times before
We had a 5.30pm table - the staff was nowhere to be seen at the start, then they were all trained by the duty manager? next to the tills visible to anybody sitting towards the back. Cutlery food-stained, bread took ages to arrive, and a large party who had drinks from the VERY noisy bar moved in the restaurant taking their table - instead of sitting down, they carried on drinking while standing and chatting, making a rather disturbing strong noise. NONE of the staff has asked them to take their seats and to behave like in a restaurant and not like by the bar.
Very disappointed. Plus the pre-theatre menu wasn`t offered, I had to ask for it specifically. it looked like they charged everybody else the full price for many dishes that were on the set menu. Clearly profit making at large scale
Very mediocre food and terrible service!
Will not go back or recommend!
