The Bowling Green Ratings and Reviews
Really nice restaurant attached to lively pub. Service very attentive, and when there was a slight mix up on the order it was rectified within seconds! Food was really good and very decent portions. Shame there were no ribs left but chicken burgers were great with proper chicken and ace sweet potato fries. Tandoori whitebait was an excellent starter. Lovely place to spend an evening.
The whole experience was excellent from booking on-line to leaving the Bowling Green. We were a party of four and made to feel welcome as soon as we entered.
Food and drink again was excellent and served promptly to a good standard.
Would we visit again? YES.
Venue selected for its position roughly half-way between North Derbyshire and Berkshire, and easy to find. Very pleasant ambience and excellent lunch menu with good selection at very reasonable prices. Service was attentive without being overbearing. Not too noisy, and tables giving plenty of space. Ideal for a small group of related senior citizens to meet up to exchange Christmas presents.
Lovely meal and lovely surroundings near to home. Service was good though they were very busy which is a good sign though had to wait a while for our meal but that actually was ok. So overall highly recommend to eat there. I see they have a children's menu so would like to bring my family for a meal. Already recommending word of mouth. Thank you for a lovely experience and delicious food 👍👍👍
We went here for Sunday Lunch and I've been to a lot of places for this particular type of meal, the place was very friendly, clean and welcoming. When the food arrived I was surprised, this is a very expensive part of the country but the lunch was very reasonably priced and was exceptional. All the meat, veggies, potatoes were very well cooked, tasty and there was lots of it. I cannot fault it and I took two members of my family and they said it was the nicest Sunday lunch they have had in a very long time. I will definitely be returning on a regular basis.
This is a little gem. Probably the best eatery in Southam, actually. Really nice contemporary ambiance and the food was fabulous. I had a seafood starter to share for starters which was a good size with salmon, prawns and scallops with rustic bread which almost filled me up. I had a rump steak to follow though and it was cooked to perfection - very tender. Came with a lovely sauce as well and great chips.
Overall a good experience for our first time. Although they had run out of beef by 1:15, the roast pork that we had was tasty. The only thing that let it down was the veg slightly over cooked for our preference and not much choice. Despite this, the Sunday lunch is very competitively priced. Dessert was nice. Staff and service was great. We will definitely return.
Everything runs like clockwork under the excellent supervision of restaurant manageress Karen. The atmosphere is relaxing, the prices are manageable and the chef turns out some very good dishes. The Chocolate Brownie is a particular favourite with the ladies.
This is a very good pub with a very good restaurant. We eat here often and the quality of the food is good and consistently good. Also has a great extensive menu, so there is something for everybody.
Service is great and all the staff are very good and helpful.
Good selection of beers and a good wine list.
Pub has recently been upgraded inside and out and looks really smart.
For lunch or evening meal I have no hesitation in recommending this pub.
