This small renowned restaurant has been a part of Ilkley since the early sixties. Now owned by husband and wife team Simon and Rena Gueller, the Box Tree continues to aim to be the best.

Simon's commitment to the best, freshest ingredients, with an emphasis on locally sourced, fresh ingredients from farmers and other suppliers, will entice food lovers with favorites such as Roast Sea Scallops, Celeriac Puree, White Truffle Oil and one of our impressive signature Soufflés

Tasting menu was excellent. Would definitely go again.
Impeccable service alongside the reputable food. Overall we loved the experience and I’m in the good books for choosing it.
A great place for a chilled Sunday lunch.
Very friendly staff who were attentive and very nice food
Simply outstanding as always.
Food flavours and presentation are Michelin standard
A perfect ambience to enjoy a superb meal . Great staff and ,service . Heartily recommend .
We had the tasting menu with accompanying wine. The food was excellent, however we felt it was all a bit rushed. We had barely finished one course (and not finished the wine) when the next course and wine arrived. We felt there was too much wine for the food and ended up quite drunk by the end which we didn’t want!
The whole place needs updating from a point of view of decor.
All that said, it was an experience and the food was excellent.
Lovely lunch, fantastic staff, faultless .
Very good deserves to get its Michelin star back soon
It is some time since we last visited the Box Tree before Friday but the quality of service and food is as we remember it, excellent. However, whilst we enjoyed the menu we were a little dismayed at the new system of only offering a set menu. We had hoped to bring our Goddaughter for a 50th birthday meal but she does not share our catholic taste in food and would not have found the set menu to her taste. I could only recommend the Box Tree with the proviso that you get what you get!
Gorgeous vegetarian food paired with lovely wines.
Superb in all respects. Well deserved reputation for excellence and a delight to chat to the owner and hear a little of their amazing journey to Michelin Stardom. I though the desserts were nothing short of sensational and I’m not a reviewer given to such turns of phrase. Get it on your bucket list!
Really enjoyed our experience. Good was fantastic and service really great.
Nouvelle cuisine now a little dated, perhaps. Canape: exceptional-crisp filo with colourful, tasty filling ; Marmite butter and solid soda bread-novel but added little to the meal other than a topic of conversation; starter-a mini-kaleidoscope of micro-dots, shavings and cubes, hardly worth all the effort taken to produce it; Confit of duck-melted in the mouth but was essentially under-seasoned and tasteless; cassoulet of Morteau sausage i.e. three white beans with no evidence of sausage but pureed potatoes with miniature, crisp slivers of something were excellent perhaps they were the sausage. The sable was superb despite Italian meringue elements lacking any external crunch. The gentlemen serving were charming, attentive, knowledgeable and a credit to the establishment. The patisserie chef was demonstrably very skilled and produced delicious confections.
Overall an enjoyable experience.
I haven’t been to the Box Tree for a while but I will definitely be returning. The staff were amazing (fitting us in when I’d booked the wrong date!) and very attentive and the food was absolutely fantastic. Everything cooked to perfection. We went for the Sunday lunch and I thought it was great value. Will definitely be returning. Thank you!
The food was delicious and the staff were very friendly
Birthday lunch. Lovely experience and great food
Absolutely perfect faultless food and service would highly recommend
We went for lunch on a Saturday. Delicious three course meal, good value for the very high standard of food.
Great to be back at one of our favourite restaurants! A few changes due to COVID but excellent food and service as always. It also felt a little more modern than pre-lockdown.
Delicious food beautifully presented in a lovely ambiance. The staff were lovely and could not have been more hospitable
Our second visit to this lovely little restaurant & we weren’t disappointed
The tasting menu was excellent and our grateful thanks to Sommelier Didier whose knowledge of wines is endless!
Also thanks to Emma who looked after us, her friendly & helpful attitude make our dining experience super
Took my partner to the Box Tree for his birthday, where we enjoyed the tasting menu. Amazing food and excellent service. Staff were very knowledgeable about the food and wine pairings.
Would definitely recommend.
Excellent food and service apart from the sommelier who would not accept that my wife wanted the white wine colder. He was rather blunt and rude.
We went for Sunday Lunch, & enjoyed 3 courses of delicious, superb quality food, beautifully presented. Service was what we would expect from The Box Tree - attentive but unobtrusive.
The only thing that slightly spoiled the experience was the attire of people at a nearby table. One woman had brought a change of shoes & whilst she wore the smart, but presumably uncomfortable-to-walk-in pair, her Converse style pumps, blue with white plastic trim, were strewn in the corner next to her, making the place look untidy - out of sight to her party, but glaringly obvious to me.
Similarly, a male member of the same party was wearing flip-flops. While I understand that dress codes have been relaxed, I'm wondering if perhaps things have relaxed a little too much & even an establishment such as this will end up losing it's 'special' sense of occasion and will instead have the same feel as any of the many, at best mediocre, high street chains serving chicken & various fast foods.
A delicious lunch served in a quiet calm atmosphere by waiters who struck the perfect balance between friendliness and formality. What’s not to like?
Top notch food , not over complicated, great combination of flavours
WE had a very nice afternoon @ The Box Tree.
only issue was the staff rushing us to our table.
we had arrived a little early after driving from Halifax.
as we were hoping to have a drink before going to our table.
whether it was due to COVID restrictions we don't know.
once seated we had a fabulous afternoon,
service very good, food great.
be back to sample the evening menu.
From the first moment we stepped through the door you were
Superb food and good sized portions. Soufflé better than London Michelin starred restaurants. Would highly recommend.
Amazing evening for me and my husband, from walking in to walking out the service was absolutely first class along with the outstanding food.
We will definitely visit again.
It had taken some time for us to come together as a group of 4. With that in mind, we had lots of special reasons for this celebration meal and we were delighted all round. Super experience and can highly recommend the wine pairings with the taster menu.
Faultless service excellent food & wine pairing. Wonderful experience
Wonderful food which looked stunning and tasted even better. Service was efficient, unobtrusive and friendly. The wine package gave us some of the nicest wines we have ever tasted, especially the dessert wine which was perfect with the amazing raspberry souffle.
Lovely food great place staff fantastic have booked to go back
As delightful as I remembered. Good quality was of the highest and service was excellent. All courses were cooked to perfection.
Beautiful, place, excellent service and the food was as food as any Michelin star restaurant I've eaten in
Excellent food & great service.
Simple menu beautifully presented food and extensive wine list
What an absolutely fabulous evening . The food was amazing, the wine pairing was perfect we can’t wait to return .
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, staff were friendly, good wine pairings Ambience was just right, relaxing and comfortable.
