This small renowned restaurant in the heart of Ilkley was founded in 1962. It was the first 2 Michelin Starred restaurant outside of London and for over 60 years has continued to be at the forefront of northern Gastronomy.

Throughly enjoyed our lunch at the Box Tree restaurant yesterday. The food was first class , staff attentive but unobtrusive. The staff were very knowledgable about the dishes that were on the menu. Have never been disappointed with a meal here just wish it was a little nearer to where we live. Overall excellent value.

Our experience of Sunday Lunch was amazing, the staff were attentive and made us feel really special. Our food was exceptional every single course was delicious We will definitely be returning.

We had the most amazing Sunday lunch we’ve ever had!! Absolutely outstanding service and food. Far exceeded our expectations! We can’t wait to return. Thank you to all the fabulous staff who made our son’s birthday such a very memorable celebration.

A meal of absolute quality perfect cooking every course faultless and packed with flavour leaving a gorgeous lingering taste The service was friendly attentive and not overbearing No ifs or buts if this level of cooking is maintained the restaurant will gain a michelin star in January

A fantastic Sunday lunch. The beef was cooked to perfection. Overall one of the best Sunday lunches I have eaten. The service was as always outstanding.

Boxing Gold! Having been occasional diners at the Box Tree since 1970, we have seen this terrific restaurant go through various iterations from being one of the countries finest stand out Stars to quirky (Madame Avis) and providing just about passable fine dining along with with variable staff. Last night we went back after a year or two's absence via the pandemic etc. and we are glad to say that from the outset the staff were superbly welcoming, professional, knowledgeable and friendly and the kitchen brigade under their new head chef produced an absolute gold medal performance on every course. The snacks were superbly tasty, a delicious custard of Parmesan, a dainty chicken liver parfait and a to die for cheese on toast with multiple layers of flavour. The two savouries following were knock out brilliant and the Guinea fowl main with a, these days rarely tasted, Madeira jus was outstanding. Desserts and cheese were delicious, perfectly sized and, with the super choice of wines in the wine flight, completed a foodie bout of Olympic Gold medal excellence. Congratulations to the Box Tree staff for getting back off the canvas and aiming for the stars!! You're all a knockout success.
