The Britannia is Richmonds leading independent restaurant and bar.
Located in the centre of town and down a very pretty cobbled alleyway, we are next to historic Richmond Green and two minutes from the Waterside.
We have two large outside spaces - A roof terrace for traditional dining and a garden that lends itself to drinks and lighter fare.
The bar inside is cosy with the bustle of a busy space and the upstairs restaurant tables have white cloths and lamps for a more intimate feel.
Serving Day Boat Fish and Chips to grilled Lobster, Vegan and Vegetarian dishes along with award winning Mackens of Chiswick Steaks, simply the finest food in the area.
Our Wine list has more than a nod to the old world, showing not only the best of Burgundy and Bordeaux but also more eclectic boutique wines from Italy, Spain and even the USA.
We pride ourselves on our cocktails. Vesper Martinis sit alongside Hemingway Daiquiris and a large selection of Spritz for the summer months.

I usually adore The Britannia but yesterday wasn’t the best experience. First off I requested an outside table due to the noise levels as my fiance is almost deaf in one ear and suffers from tinnitus. When we arrived, our friends had already been seated and put inside. Unfortunately we were also put downstairs where the noise from the bar, it was busy and the table behind us let their baby scream a lot instead of taking him out to calm him (I’m a nanny so I know what I’m talking about) and my fiance was struggling as his tinnitus flared up and he struggled to hear the conversation between me and our friends. Service was very slow which again I’ve never found before in the past and I had to ask if we could order drinks as no one had come over to us and we’d been there awhile. The new menu is ok but sad to see the old scallops with cauliflower puree starter no longer available. I had a roast and my Yorkshire pudding was totally overdone which was a shame. I’ve always been a massive advocate of The Britannia but was left yesterday feeling slightly disappointed.

Always an enjoyable experience at the Brittania, whether sitting upstairs or downstairs. Friendly service, good choice on the menu and excellent food.

Lovely, leisurely lunch at The Britannia - staff were friendly and helpful. Great advice on menu and wine choices. Service was attentive without being intrusive - will visit again in future.
