The Britannia Richmond
Lovely evening, made to feel really welcome and it was a perfect birthday celebration
Without doubt the best food in Richmond, in my humble opinion at least! Coupled with outstanding and attentive service. Number 1 in Richmond!
Delightful old character pub. Ate in the upstairs dining room. Food was amazing. A perfect pre theatre dining experience.
The Britannia never fails to deliver.
Outstanding little gem in Richmond.
Two of the best hosts you can get.
If you are going for Sunday Roast, this is the place to go. That is of course if like my boyfriend you like meat. He really loved his plate. The vegetarian dish for me was more quantitative than qualitative. There was only one option (artichoke risotto). It was bland and to be frank, it could have been any risotto made with vegetable stock I would not have seen the difference. There were some artichoke chips on the top, that's the only way I knew there would be artichoke inside. The plate was huge, so I did not go hungry, but I feel more effort could be made on that dish, how about a nut roast?
Overall it's a nice restaurant if you want to bring your meaty friends, but I would not recommend it for your vegetarian mates!
Really nice food, nice people
Excellent food and service
A lovely pub with a great menu & lovely atmosphere. I've been coming to other pubs & restaurants in Richmond for years but never the Britannia but after today's experience I plan to remedy that & visit more often. A lovely pub with great food & lovely staff.
Staff made a lovely fuss of my son as it was his birthday. Manager was great fun. Very impressed!
Good food and service. Bit noisy and if pub v busy, pub not big enough to have tables in separate section. Slightly pricey, but food v good. Special mention to Emily and Ollie.
I last ate at The Britannia in the Summer and was looking forward to sampling the Autumn menu. We had a warm welcome and were well looked after - possibly new staff/management since my last visit but friendly and helpful. We had a choice of tables and I took a cosy corner. It had a downside of having a small wobbly bench to fit the space - not helped by my short legs and toes not properly touching the ground - but I accept that's one of the quirks of a small characterful place. My soufflé starter was rich and full of flavour but unfortunately stone cold in places. Our host showed exemplary service and was very apologetic, made no charge for the dish and gave us complimentary drinks. Main course was a beef and watermelon salad - very generous portion for a small size and whilst not bad, it seemed heavy on peppers and wasn't as good a dish as I remember from previous visits. My friend's set menu meal went down well and was definitely enjoyed - tomato and mozzarella salad and fish and chips main. For quality and enjoyment, it proved to be good value. The a la carte menu is on the pricey side so it does really need to deliver. Maybe a different choice of dishes would have scored better. Although not a total success on the food or comfort front, I have been a fan of the pub in it's various guises for 20+ years and still love it overall.
Couldn’t happier. The manager was incredibly helpful and the food was great. Many thanks
Superb food: my guest had pate followed by fish and chips, I had the scallops and pork belly followed by sirloin steak and a fig brulee, all washed down by a splendid Malbec and coffee. The staff are all very friendly and helpful, the only downside is the noise level from a very busy and popular venue.
We’ve lived in Richmond for two years and have walked past the Britannia
many times and always thought the ambience looked wonderful. We vowed to dine there one day and finally did! We were not disappointed. The food, service and ambiance were all absolutely spot on!! We will absolutely return again soon and highly recommend dining there!!!!
Really enjoyed the experience. Roast was delicious.
Super people - friendly and helpful - and very nice food. The only disappointment was a rather old glass of Rioja, immediately replaced with one from a new bottle (opened at the table). Look forward to my next visit.
Good food and friendly service
Booked a table in the afternoon, and even with short notice our special request was considered.
We had a really delicious meal - really great starters of crab mayonnaise and cheese soufflé, and mains of pheasant and hake - highly recommend any and all of these.
Only downside were some noisy people at other tables around us...
We dined here early on Saturday evening. We had the crab mayonnaise to start and then the chicken from the set menu. Both were delicious and the chicken was particularly succulent. The cooking and service here are very good. The only drawback was that it was busy and it became very noisy even though we were in a corner. We struggled to have a conversation when the dining room was at its busiest.
First time dining and was impressed with the standard of food, service, ambience. Will be back again
Great little find. Friendly helpful staff, food was excellent and a great atmosphere. Would go again
Nice little pub, can be a bit loud and cramped when it's busy. Food is reasonable.
Excellent food - better than ever, though the fresh mint tea was an interesting take on a classic!
Always delicious, lovely atmosphere, great service and personable staff.
Super Sunday lunch. Beef cooked to perfection. The staff were excellent and went over and above in looking after us. Will definitely book again.
Lovely hosts and great pub. Decent grub and wine. Only a slight niggle that the sole could have been deboned - but they did provide a spare plate.
Hidden gem. Beautiful menu. Excellent service. Love this place.
A regular here, always enjoy the service, food top notch as are the wine options. The Oysters were well prepared and the lamb main was delicious.
Upon artival A little off putting by the number of glasses on the bar waiting to be washed up. Very friendly staff who found us a table on the upper terrace which was appreciated on a sunny evening.
Choice of main courses quite limited, I think there were 5 & one of those had sold out. (We dont like huge menus)Order taken fairly quickly but waited at least 40 mins for food to arrive. Food was good but fairly expensive. £16.? Something for spaghetti with mushrooms. £18.? for cod on spinach plus 12.5% service charge.
Great food, exceptional service and delicious wine. Great outdoor dining. The only downside (for us) is that they allow smoking on the outside dining areas which spoils the food when you’re eating. But probably a positive for the smokers!
Excellent meal. Lovely evening - looking forward to my next visit, thank you!
Me and my partner had a really lovely lunch here. Such good service and the food was amazing. Great wine list and a lovely environment. I would thoroughly recommend.
A great location with a superb Sunday lunch and excellent service.
As always, lovely food and very friendly service, and we will definitely be back. A minor point - it was a bit chilly to be seated outside - we weren't offered the option but I suppose we could have asked to move inside. Heaters might be a good idea if the outdoor areas are to be heavily utilised during autumn.
I have visited this restaurant several times over the past few years. I have been impressed with the quality of food, the service from the staffing, and the welcoming environment. I always look for consistency with placed I return to, and the Britannia certainly ticks all of the boxes. I would highly recommend.
Amazing team and awesome food. I honestly couldn't recommend this place anymore if I tried!
BIrthday lunch at the Britannia was phenomenal. What better joy than sitting on the Terrace in the sunshine, sipping champagne, eating delicious food! Tiger prawns were freshly cooked and full of flavour; dressed crab to follow was superb. My husband’s crab soufflé & fish & chips were equally wonderful. Service was friendly and attentive. Thank you Britannia team!
Excellent service, staff very attentive and food wonderful!! Will definitely return and recommend!
This is a lovely pub with lots of character. The food was creative and much enjoyed by our party of 4. The menu is rather pricey though we went for the more expensive items on the menu. There are good two courses for £20 options as well.
Great find, we had the most delicious food we’ve eaten in any local restaurant for a long time. Service was attentive yet relaxed and welcoming. We will definitely be back.
