Excellent food in a lovely setting, with helpful staff.
Was there for Sunday lunch. Roast pork was superb and so was my partners Lamb. Had the treacle tart for pudding and that too was excellent, melted in the mouth. One of the best desserts I have tasted.
Fantastic range of ales and lagers.
The food was beautiful, and came quickly! The service was great too, the servers were very attentive and nice. Will definitely be going back!!!
Great, busy, loads of character, excellent food, a proper treat. Just need waiting staff to give you a little more time after courses. Absolutely great place and worth a visit
The food service was very slow however worth the wait in terms of the quality - very friendly waiting staff and a good ambience
A very enjoyable evening and excellent food. The meal took a while to arrive which was absolutely fine as we don’t like to rush, the only concern with this was that the table was only allocated for a set time and we thought we were going to have to hurry our next course, as it turned out the table wasn’t needed so we were able to over stay our allocated time.
It's our 2nd visit and we weren't disappointed. Lovely food served in a friendly relaxed atmosphere. We will definitely return.
Lovely food good value Restaurant week menu, great service.
Delicious food and great service. We had the NE1 restaurant week lunch menu so it was really good value for money.
Friendly and helpful staff.
Delicious food and good value.
Main course seemed to take a bit long but otherwise the service was excellent.
Excellent experience with varied menu. Highly recommended.
Never fails to deliver. Still our favourite Newcastle eatery. Loved the menu choices - could have had it all!
This was for the Resturant Week but the food was great. I have had bar meals here which are spot on.
Couldn't ask for more on all 3 courses and the service was excellant
We went for lunch during Newcastle Restaurant Week and had a great meal. The Brown crab soup was totally delicious and the mutton pudding was excellent. Really good British food. Washed down with a pint of Writers Block which is great.
A terrific meal for Restaurant Week, expertly cooked and served by great staff in a really pleasant location. Top marks.
The food was phenomenal, which is what you'd expect for the price however I can safely say it was worth it and I'll be going again
Perfect lunch menu and very good value. Particularly enjoyed crab soup and the trout with beetroot, fennel and orange.
A great place to eat. Cannot fault it at all. I eat here often. It is consistently good.
Family Sunday lunch. Impeccable service and food. Catered really well for our 5 year old son. Thank you
Good food served at sensible prices by a well organised and trained staff.
Another amazing meal at the Broad Chare. The bar snacks were as fantastic as always. This time we decided to eat family style on the starters so we opted for the Haggis on toast (fantastic), Crab on toast (amazing), Lindisfarne oysters (delicious, beautifully presented and very fresh), the pigeon and bacon salad (incredible). As well as the scotch eggs, monkfish cheeks, crispy pigs ears and crackling.
Service was fantastic as always. This place has been my favourite place to eat for many years. In fact my wife and I also had our first date at the Broad Chare.
Excellent food and great service . There were 10 of us and we all had starters and main courses . Cauliflower fritters , scotch egg , wood pigeon salad , oysters and we all said they were very tasty. Main courses of steak , burger , bubble and squeak , fish and chips plus duck with good portion size and cooked perfectly. A great smaller sized restaurant with a nice bar area too .
Three of us had our monthly reunion at Broad chair.
One had never been before and loved it!
The food was outstanding, unpretentious and so tasty.
The best Roast dinner !! Once you’ve had theirs you won’t go anywhere else.
Their other dishes are delicious too.
Always a warm atmosphere and friendly staff.
Another great Sunday lunch at The Board Chare, top marks.
Beautiful Sunday lunch. I had lamb and everything was very tasty and cooked to perfection. Friendly, attentive service without being intrusive. Would highly recommend and looking forward to going back.
Fantastic food, lovely staff and fab restaurant-one of my all time favs in town! Never disappoints!
Food and service was amazing and cant wait to go back
Everything as it should be at Broad Chare. Food, service and ambiance as good as ever. Getting meal took a bit longer than usual, but understandable in view of staff shortages due to Covid. I think most customers are aware of this and make allowances, as we did. Here's to the next time. Joe
I booked The Broad Chare for my partners birthday over the weekend and what a treat it was! Lovely cozy pub with amazing food and lots of ale. We had a lovely waiter who made us feel very comfortable and we had a good laugh. We both loved the menu and found it hard to choose a dish! We eventually went for Stream Trout w Braised Leeks, Samphire and Shetland Mussels and my partner the Pork Chop w Blood Pudding, Apple and Sage! Both beautiful rich dishes with plenty of flavour! We’ll both be back as soon as we’re in Newcastle again! Perfect for a special occasion!
I always enjoy a meal at the Broad Chare, a great atmosphere and excellent food, they even produced an ‘off the menu’ haggis and mash for my granddaughter. They do interesting sharing food - I shared a big chicken pie with my daughter, the suet crust was delicious The food comes piping hot which indicates an efficient kitchen when dishes are being delivered for a table of 5.
The staff are attentive and professional.
Overall I’d say the Broad Chare is not cheap but it is good value for money, whenever I go I think to myself ‘Why don’t I come here more often?’
Food as always was absolutely fabulous and service was fantastic too.
An excellent meal from start to finish, thoroughly recommended and will be back the next time I'm in Newcastle.
Excellent place to eat singularly! I went on my own and was made to feel comfortable in a friendly place. Well done, Broad Chare!
Very few better places to eat in Newcastle. High standards everywhere. You can tell the last year or so has affected them with a noticeably reduced menu. But it still has real character and excellent food. I shall continue to support them. Great beer too. Good luck to them in 2022
Excellent everything. We were staying for new year and visit family here regularly. The last time here was August for mums 80th. Would definitely recommend and visit again when in the area.
Superb way to end a year
Look forward to many visits in 2022
Fantastic food, beer and service in a very nice setting. We would certainly visit the Broad Chare again.
Delicious!! Staff were very attentive. Best pork chop I’ve ever had in my life…
Excellent food and wine and service friendly and knowledgeable.
