The Chancery Ratings and Reviews
I'm pretty new to the world of good eating and because it was my partners birthday I wanted it to be both nice and memorable - The Chancery was a stunning choice on both fronts and the Taster Menu was just perfect.
The feel, style and ambience of the restaurant was relaxed and friendly, the service, warm and impeccable and the food, a triumph. I can't recommend this highly enough!
A hidden treasure and well worth a visit.
I went here with a friend to try out the 6 course tasting menu paired with wine. The experience exceeded our already high expectations. The food was exciting, beautifully presented and tasted amazing. And the wine was paired perfectly - would definitely recommend going for the wine menu as well. It just perfected the experience. Very high standard service all around.
The Head Chef Yuma also took a lot of time ot tell us about the menu, the concept and his approach to the food.
Definitely a must go!!
Opportunity to BYO on Monday (or 50%) was the overriding reason for selection when meeting a friend and was really impresssed by the staff especially new chef Yuma Yuma Hashemite's cuisine. Sumptuous food along with white truffles were a great treat and BYO topped a fabulous dining experience. Great to come back after so long . Thanks for the great service too and look forward to dining and sharing wines again
the food is brilliant; original without being silly. The service is impeccable and efficient without being fussy or annoying. the ambience still suffers a little from the place being surrounded by major building work but it will continue to succeed - and deserves to.
We were booked in as a wedding anniversary gift. The room lacked a little atmosphere but the staff were friendly and attentive. The tasting menu was well chosen and the wines accompanying each course complemented the food. The restaurant is not large and was not full which detracted from the atmosphere but allowed us to converse without difficulty. Altogether an enjoyable evening which with a larger number of diners, would have added to the occasion.
I always think of this Restuarant as being my secret weapon it's slightly off the track and a friend who lives locally wasn't even aware that they were there
The whole meal was great but the scallops were amazing I thoroughly recommend them
We had a late booking and were the last people in the room but were assured that we should take our time such was the welcome from the staff
Make the effort and go here it's worth it
I picked this for a 7 course Valentine's tasting menu (they opened specially on Sunday for this serving) and it was an excellent choice. I am on a healthy eating plan, which was broadly accommodated and the food was superb. A nice addition was a flight of wine (which we shared) for an extra £35 on top of the £80 each for the menu, and it included wines at 75ml a glass, which was much more reasonable than a full glass per course. Well thought out and considered. The focus was on very high quality ingredients rather than loading everything with butter, cream and/or oil. Tasty, but not a killer for my programme!
Lovely restaurant, they have friendly staff all willing to go the extra mile.
We went for a Valentines meal taking advantage of the taster 7 course menu with secret wines. I thought this was great value for money and one of the best restaurants I have been to in London. We will be back
Booked via Opentable for the 5-courses with a glass of champagne and we were not disappointed at all - actually, it was better than what we expected. We often go for fine dining but think food in The Chancery can definitely compete with some of the Michelin-starred restaurant (it was better than a one Michelin-starred restaurant we went a week ago).
The service was superb as well - friendly with good attention to details.
The entire dinner was about £130 all-in-all (the deal was £49 per person and we ordered a bottle of wine plus three bottles of sparkling water (free)).
So, definitely recommend everyone who loves good food with a reasonable price tag in central London.
Having raved about The Chancery to all my friends after eating there a few months ago, I was a little nervous that it wouldn't live up to their expectations when I took them there. Very glad to report that it didn't let me down. We had opted for the Open Table set course menu, which was great value. The fish dishes in particular were excellently prepared. Next time I hope to go there on a completely empty stomach so that I can try the tasting menu.
We had a superb meal here. Tried the taster menu after reading a review in the FT and each dish was a beautiful and inspired combination of flavours and well presented. The wine pairings were spot on and overall it was good value considering the quality and quantity. we tried to pick our favorite dish from the 7 but it was too close to call! The service was friendly, polite and discreet. This little restaurant is hidden out of the way but well worth seeking out. We will definitely be back. Could not fault a thing! Well done to everyone at The chancery who obviously work hard to produce a special but unpretentious place and really care about the food and the customers too.
So delighted that we found this gem of a restaurant. We opted for the tasting menu and we were overwhelmed by both the quality and variety of the food. Sublime flavour combinations and complimentary dishes. We had to swap out a couple of plates (due to allergies) and were rewarded with stunning replacements that, for us, made the meal. It was a truly memorable dining experience for all the right reasons. Highly recommended if you like to dine in an understated restaurant where the food says it all.
We had been to a concert nearby, but it wasn't only the location that suggested we should eat here. Having eaten here before, we knew it was reliably fabulous, and we were not at all disappointed. Well-sourced ingredients, cooked with flair, not just for show but for flavour. We couldn't stop talking about the flavours as we ate. And we were greeted by a query as to how we found the concert - astonishing attention to detail!
I was really blown away by the food. The combination of the ingredients is amazing. In particular, the venison was outstanding. I had the seared tuna as the started which was also excellent. And the rhubarb desert was delicious. I will definitely be going back and intend to try the 7 course taster menu (which we didn't have time for this time). Because the restaurant was relatively quiet (probably due it being a Saturday night and due to the City location), the chef came out to chat, which was a very nice touch. And the service was also excellent - friendly and attentive without being overbearing.
Given the amount of building works going on in Cursitor Street and the noise I was apprehensive when I arrived at the Chancery with a business client who is not the easiest to please. I needn't have worried. The inside of the restaurant was an ocean of tranquility, the service friendly and attentive. This was my first visit to The Chancery which I found recommended in the Michelin Red Guide to London Restaurants and Hotels.
The food was outstanding - some of the very best I have had anywhere in the world recently! It was imaginative and beautifully prepared. The ingredients were of the highest order. I am fortunate to dine out fairly regularly but it is not often I come across food that really impresses me. This did. We are talking Michelin red star territory here.
Our waitress, I do not recall her name was attentive and keen to please. There were no glaring omissions.
The only drawback was the access to the toilets down a steepish flight of stairs. My client is partially disabled and she struggled with this.
Otherwise a most enjoyable experience. I will certainly be returning to The Chancery which was a real find for me!
It was a special occasion, and the Chancery made it even more special. Even though there were two large parties and we were only a couple, we were never neglected. The food and wine were just amazing, and the portions perfect. We'd been going off tasting menus lately, but in this restaurant it is the perfect choice. Thanks so much.
