The Chefs' House - George Brown College
For parties of 9 guests or more, please call for reservations.
Everything was delicious. We had a few big guys at our table and the portions are minuscular. We will go back because it was great. Just hope to see slightly larger portions!!
Only complaint would be the dessert. I had the pear tart and the pastry was clearly verging on being burnt at the bottom. I blame the Chef. This never should have left the kitchen. Everything else was delicious and the service was exceptional.
Service was attentive. I wish we could pay for the meal table side. But I do understand it’s a experimental restaurant training future chefs. The substitutions allowed was great and my friend that had a lot of allergies was accommodated appropriately.
Everything is good.
I would prefer the House-smoked sturgeon can be thicker for the folk to pick up.
Meanwhile kinda disappointed the Poached Pear not available as stated on website menu.
The Korean Beef Ribs and the Trout is just
Interesting and great mixture of the sour and bit spicy taste of the side veg-make noodle on the side of the trout dish.
What a marvellous find. Fabulously innovative food for a bargain price. The students we met were delightful-attentive and knowledgeable. The food was delicious and we washed it down with a very interesting bottle of wine. Grab a table soon!
Rachel was a great server.
Knowledgeable about the dinner options.
Excellent food. Great value. Student servers are earnest.
Food was wonderful as were the cocktails (especially the pisco sour). It was my birthday and since I couldn’t share in the delicious bread everyone else in my party of five was eating due to a gluten allergy, the chef made me a gluten free tapioca cheese ball treat since they had no gluten free bread. They gave me a basket full and it was delectable. The waitstaff were particularly nice. Everyone in my party had an excellent dinner. I would definitely come back.
everything about this new restaurant is terrific..the ony comment from my group of four was that the food itself., though incredibly tasty, may have been a little warmer when served...otherwise...well done George Brown
As usual, brilliant food at excellent prices; trainee service staff were very good. When I requested that they reduce the noise level, they were very considerate and did it immediately. Everyone at our table and in the House were able to converse without shouting.
First time to the Chef’s House and I will definitely go back again.
Very attentive service and the food was excellent!
This was our second visit to this restaurant.
We know it’s the students that are cooking, and so our expectations are lower than if we go to an actual restaurant, but this time food was blend. No taste. No textures. Really disappointing.
Already made reservations for my next visit. I loved everything about this experience. The students should be commended.
The Chef's House is one of my favourite spots to spend an evening either catching up with old friends or introducing new friends to this amazing culinary adventure. The food is always exceptional - in taste, in presentation and in creativity while the service is top notch especially when considering this is a teaching restaurant. I am always thrilled after spending an evening being wined and dined by The Chef's House crew!
It was very foods
The waiter was excellent maybe a bit too attentive.it was a slow night so it felt limited kethere was a lot of staff milling about.
Really perfect for what we wanted - a relaxed friendly dinner with old friends. Service was pleasant and upbeat, but not excessive. Food was just right. Thanks.
Terrific service, delicious, beautifully presented food. We will be back. I had the Red Snapper
The food was fabulous and the service was genuine, but not 100% polished. If you come in knowing it’s a training ground, and know you’re part of the lesson, you’ll both enjoy the experience and forgive the *very * slight service misses. Come back and you’ll see how the staff grow and improve through the year. Also, you really can’t beat the value! I truly enjoy this spot, and can’t recommend it highly enough!
Service and food were on point. Expectations were exceeded.
Very impressed with the quality of food, service, atmosphere for the price. Will definitely go there again and recommend.
Another wonderful night at the Chef's House - amazing food and exceptional service. Will return again and again!
I highly recommend The Chef's House. A fine dining experience for a very reasonable price. The menu is a choice from at least 3 selections, of each starter, entree and dessert at a fixed price. We were there for lunch and the portions were appropriately sized and artfully presented. The trout was grilled perfectly and the sous vide steak was tender in a delicious bean ragu. My only comment for an improvement is the service was attentive and eager, although felt slightly rehearsed instead of fluid. Having said that, this is expected in a teaching environment. I would highly recommend this restaurant and intent to come back many times.
The food was excellent and the wait staff attentive. This is a learning opportunity and the students did a fine job.
Friendly staff. Excellent food made by students at a great value
As always, The Chef's House did not disappoint. The food is always meticulously prepared and well presented. While the menu options are somewhat limited, there is something for most palates and everything is always so delicious. Our server was a little inexperienced and slightly awkward, but knowing this is a live environment for students learning the industry, that minor shortcoming is easy to overlook. And the price is amazing! Thoroughly recommended.
Everything was excellent. I will highly recommend your restaurant to my friends.
A hidden gem that not only provides practical experience for many George Brown students, but offers the city a fabulous dining option, very reasonably priced! Highly recommend the experience, and repeat visits.
Value for money and variety is always good here. Some of the dishes are hit or miss and there were a few small issues with service.
Table of five. Appetizers were generally great (potato soup with seafood in particular!). Tri tip steak in main course was a bit tough, chicken with peach chutney was interesting, but salmon was likely the best. For desert the Paris Brin was a let down. The dark chocolate sorbet was great.
Fantastic food, service, and location! Just love it.
Enthusiastic staff and a creative menu. I recommend this place for food and service. The venue is not fancy , just functional, but hey, this is a college. It's about practicing, not about styling. And prices are very attractive for what you get. Fun watching the frenzy in the open kitchen.
As usual the food was perfect as the service. I recommend this place, the menu change frequently.
There is a reason why its sometimes hard to get a reservation at Chef's House. Great food. Great prices. Helping students, priceless.
The menu wasn’t as good as previous menus. The sous vide beef dish was tough. Salmon was slightly undercooked with good flavours on the side.
Service was good to replace dishes for something else.
Other times this place has been great for both food and service.
the salmon was undercooked, sent it back, came back undercooked. it was not what i expected given the review i heard of the place.
My birthday was the best Denzel our waiter made our day !
Nice place and a fair price.
We go often and it's terrific....for lunch or dinner. Our guest from out of town loved it, too.
I remember years ago going to George Brown College at the Nassau Campus to eat with my high school cooking class. Quite different from this time. It wasn't as fancy back then as it was time. They back then just concentrated on the food taste. The presentation now is incredible, I| loved the Curried Carrot Soup.
Delicious meal part of the Summerlicious summer 2019.
The restaurant could add a Better wines from
California to their wine list, also expand their price range
to offer more choices.
