Beautiful food in a cosy warm setting. Service was a little slow when we first arrived but then the rest of the time was exceptional.

It was our third visit to The Chequers and it never fails to impress - the manager and staff really care about your experience; food was excellent btw.

Food was fantastic, however the service was woeful. Took ages to get served...even had to go and find someone to place an order.

We found this venue by chance. The meals were large portions and reasonably priced. We would recommend it for a nice country pub.

Recently moved into the area and have now eaten here twice, once during the week and once for a Sunday Roast. Genuinely excellent on both occasions. The choices are excellent as is the service. Nothing negative to say at all here.

Chequers is a pub we return to every time we visit the Cotswolds. It has a lovely buzzy atmosphere every time we go and the food is consistently really good. Highly recommend.

Lovely pub, warm welcome, delightful ambience, friendly and efficient service and our starters were excellent. However, 3 of our group ordered Welsh Rarebit which was, alas, not only very unappealing to look at but the cheese topping, in addition to not being quite hot enough, was virtually fluid and the toast underneath it therefore completely soggy - sorry, but it wasn’t up to much. Hungry after a long drive and after such a promising start to our lunch, this was very disappointing.

Best sunday roast we’ve ever had in a pub. Cannot fault one thing on my plate. This is the second sunday roast we’ve had here & the first one was brilliant but they exceeded themselves on our second visit. Lovely kind helpful staff, roaring fire, dogs, and amazing food & wine.

Loved the Chequers. It was recommended by a work colleague and we were very happy with the recommendation. The Chequers has a great atmosphere, good layout so you aren't squashed right next to the table next to you and the food is amazing! Also we liked it as they didn't rush as which so often happens these days. We will definitely go there when we are next in the Cotswolds.

The food was lovely and Vincent and his team were very accommodating. We were the only ones in the restaurant so whilst it was fab to be able to speak to each other it lacked the ambience which it would have had on a busier evening. We went back for drinks the next day and it was much buzzier. Would recommend it and am disappointed not to be there for their Beaujolais Nouveau experience

Welcoming staff who were very dog friendly. The food was delicious and was served quickly (perhaps because we had a 12 noon booking on a Sunday so first in the door), which made my mother very happy. Beautiful setting. We only wished we were local to be able to go here regularly for food & enjoy having a drink by their cosy fire. Highly recommend.

I have chosen the same meal before, the cheese souffle was still excellent, but the duck salad was nowhere near as good, which is a real shame, my husband's burger was also a bit dry. Shame, as we love it here.

Great atmosphere, and sublime food. We lunched on a busy Sunday, and were sat upstairs in the private "for hire" room. Downstairs roaring log fire - which will definitely coax us for a return visit! and lots of diners accompanied by beautiful, well behaved dogs. Gluten Free options were readily available, simply ask... Highly recommend!

We waited half an hour to be seated at a tiny table below the bar rather than in the dining room (I had booked the table weeks in advance). We were brought the wrong meals after another half hour and then the service charge was left on the bill. Food was nice enough but the roast potatoes were enormous and undercooked.

Having worked at the chequers in Churchill under a previous management, I recommended it to my group of friends for a birthday meal. We are aware the prices are a bit higher but I know the food is excellent. We were seated late and a number of options were not available on the menu, and we weren’t given the option of pre-ordering. Before the evening got any more frustrating, my friends went to speak to the manager to raise awareness at the time that we weren’t particularly pleased. This conversation resulted in the manager making my friend cry. Having worked in hospitality (as has she) I was appalled that management were so rude and upsetting. The rest of the evening was then uncomfortable and the promised discount was not taken off the end bill PLUS a £40+ service charge was added. I am so embarrassed that I recommended this restaurant and won’t be doing so again.

The food was amazing, the hospitality was fantastic. the wine list is extensive and interesting. Two faults; we have been twice, once in 2018 and again in 2019, and their meat slicer was broken both times so we are yet to enjoy the charcuterie! Also, for reasons unexplained, our martinis were served at room temperature. Absolutely everything else has been perfect both times we've visited, and next time we'll specify the martini to be shaken on ice, or else stick to the wines.

Last year we stopped for lunch and split the fried chicken and the French dip beef sandwich. This year we came for dinner and had the half-pint of prawns, oysters, and a scotch egg to start, and the chateaubriand for 2 to follow. Both times we split the banoffee pot. Everything was incredible.

My partner asked me to give this in writing; I am a big fan of Bearnaise sauce, and the Bearnaise at Chequers is excellent. But (the shocking part) the peppercorn sauce was actually better. I doubt I'll ever say that about another peppercorn sauce in my life. Very, very good.

Two of us had dinner here on a Thursday evening. The welcome from the host was lovely. From there, however, it went a bit downhill. After a wait, we flagged down a waitress to order drinks and food. We ordered two glasses of champagne, and when they arrived, were completely flat. We flagged the same server down and as she came to the table she asked if the drinks were flat. We took this to mean they were aware of the poor quality and still served the drinks. They were replaced.

The food itself was fine. Prepared well, though my partner's hake was a tadge on the greasy side. We were taken aback by the size of the dish versus the price. It was £20 for literally a bit of fish, with some fennel on top, on a plate. Sides were £4.95 which I feel is a bit pricey given they must know people need sides to fill up.

Any time we needed attention we had to flag someone down, which wasn't ideal, but more of a nuisance than anything.

So overall, the service, while friendly enough when at the table, was evasive; the food, while good though not mind blowing, was overpriced; and the atmosphere was nice, though just a gastro pub type place. There are plenty of other places in the area that do better so we'll probably give this one a miss.
