Great food staff welcoming and friendly great place
Very nice hotel, the brasserie was lovely, food excellent and out waitress could not do enough for us.
Excellent hotel perfect location staff excellent & friendly
Grate food and good service set in a fantastic environment
Great food and service.
Lovely clean room . Food quality excellent and good portions. Selection of dishes was good. The staff were on the top of their game . Freindly and professional. Advice given on local things to do was very good with a map and directions. A short walk to all the center of York was a bonus with on site car parking. Reception was well managed. Thank you very much. Will go back
Delicious food, pleasant ambiance, great service.
Food was excellent, service fantastic. Staff were really good and could not do enough. Absolutely recommend.
Good choice, good presentation, overall excellent.
The food and ambience were pleasant but the young guy serving us was on another planet!
Great food and friendly service
Great service and good quality food. Prices are reasonable and the garden at the front is lovely.
We booked a table at the Dewsnap's Brasserie at the Churchill Hotel last minute on a Sunday and we definitely weren't disappointed. As soon as we got there, we were greeted by the attentive staff and shown to our table. The service throughout our meal was outstanding and the food was exceptional. The ambience of the brasserie was relaxed and chilled and the décor of the restaurant was stunning. Even though we were inside for our meal, we noticed the lovely outside area and we will definitely be returning to sit outside very soon.
Great food, service and atmosphere. Well worth a visit, especially now they have the lovely garden area with heaters and plenty of blankets for cooler evenings.
We had a very good meal. Great staff. Excellent NZ white.
Ok menu choices but service was outstanding with friendly ambience. Found restaurant a little quiet (although busy) but these things are subjective / down to personal preferences.
Nice venue and food
I am adding these words because it has to be a min 50 character before I can go to the next screen
Great staff - very warm and friendly.
Food was excellent and all great value
Lovely quirky restaurant. Food good would definitely return
Decor is very British and quirky. A good selection on the menu. Would recommend this for a special occasion.
Possibly because we were the last booking, but thats not really an excuse... the food was over cooked and staff didn't seem like they wanted to serve us.
We left most our food and said to the waitress that we were disappointed with the food and we just got an "ok".
Breakfast the next morning however was beautiful and servers were fantastic.
I really enjoyed my experience and food at The Churchill’s Hotel
We arrived on time and were shown to a dirty table outside. Told to use the app to order food and drink and if we needed help just shout
The app took forever to upload and after putting all information in were told it would be a 20 min wait!!
We then looked at food only to find you could only order the sharing platters outside, which was not what we wanted
It started to rain and half the tables had no umbrellas!! Shoddy for a hotel of this stature
The food arrived late but was nice (for the half price)
To say we were bitterly disappointed with the whole experience is an understatement and we will definitely NOT be going back. My daughter cancelled her booking and to be quite honest, I wouldn’t tell any of my friends to visit at present
5 of us were eating , we were sat separately due to Covid restrictions , however the following morning a family of 5 were sat together at the same table Having breakfast
This is a bit confusing and doesn’t make sense that my family were made to sit separately?
Booked table for a special occasion weeks in advance. Spoilt on arrival as nowhere to park and had to wander around in the car after dropping partner off first to find somewhere and local area is permit only. Returned half and hour later!! Staff very courteous and hospitable. Inconsistent service as one staff member would only put plate on side of table for you and come no closer and yet other one was happy to serve you traditionally and take tableware from place setting. Ambiance good though garden was very busy in the pizza area. Not sure at this price point would go again personally but these are unusual times and am sure this probably is not their normal scenario when serving customers.
We only had breakfast but it was exceptional waiters were friendly and nothing too much trouble
Over priced for what it is,
Lovely rooms but got woken up twice due to banging noise really loud.
Had dinner in restaurant and service was very slow and we were the only people eating at that time, we ordered 3 Irish coffees and it took 40min then asked for the bill and had to get up after 20min to pay at bar just for the dinner £200 for 4 I feel it should have been more like £120 so I would stay in the room but not do dinner there I would nip into york .
Wouldn't dine here again for evening meal, poor service, left for long periods, waiting 20 minutes for a glass of wine that never arrived and 90 minutes for 3 meals. We left disappointed and hungry. Decided to go for a pizza up the road. Couldn't even say it was busy apart from is one other family dining in the restaurant that evening. Waitresse could do with customer service training, to busy carrying on with other staff members.
Sold out of pizza, even though we had booked. Did not explain we had to load an app and had to ask what to do after sitting at the table for 15 minutes. The app takes a good 10 mins to read and understand if it’s the first time you have used it. The hotel itself looks lovely and it was a relaxing atmosphere.
The only fault was there could have been music and a bit more ambience
Delicious food but quite a limited selection of drinks. Excellent ambience and good service. Food came before the drinks despite ordering these first on the app but this was soon resolved.
Just went with my parents from Brazil and we just loved it. The place is amazing, the garden is outstanding and foods and drinks were perfect. The owners are very friendly and very concerned about everything. I will definitely go back but next time will stay at the Hotel. Thank you, Becky it was very nice to meet you and your family!
Menu wasn't extensive, but food was lovely and reasonably priced.
Excellent service, food and environment.
Sadly will not survive Covid-19 in the inside restaurant part unless the story the service and the ambience out. Food was sub par. People left before eating. Terrible.
Absolutely lovely... food, atmosphere, friendly staff, couldn't have asked for more... I will be back!!
Thank you for a lovely meal, really enjoyed our evening.
Couldn't have asked for friendlier staff right from the moment we walked through the door.
Food was delicious, we had the steak and the duck which were both cooked to perfection.
Thank you again, would definately vist again.
Honestly I left the hotel in tears I have raved about Churchill’s for ages to my cousins who were on this special occasion celebrating my 60th birthday and our ruby anniversary, we booked thinking they did the special at £27.50 for 3 course we were told that they didn’t do this offer anymore and I explained what the website had said and Churchill’s basically said tough and the manager on duty was rude and lacked any empathy to the situation and did nothing to appease the situation, a few years ago Churchill’s would bend over backwards to make sure their customers had a wonderful experience at the hotel upgraded rooms for returning customers and the menu was far superior to what they are serving now I’m afraid I think the 4* rating is very lacking and I’m so disappointed and upset about the situation
Just a normal weekly dining event
Food was sent back. Unable to eat it. Ordered a home made pie with trimmings. Meat was tough and the gravy poor, almost watery. Had to wait in the bar for over half an hour before being taken to an almost empty dining area even though I had booked a table. The serving staff was very apologetic. What a pity as the restaurant ambiance was good. Thought we were in for a good evening. Sadly it wasn’t to be.
