The City Barge
The City Barge is a great gastro pub. The food is very good and very well executed. We have been there many times and never been disappointed.
Always a reliable and great meal 👍🏻
Food took a while to arrive but it was very nice
As always the whole meal was amazing from all regards, I can’t recommend this place highly enough.
Without doubt the best fish and chips in Chiswick. In fact every dish on the menu is delicious. Trust me I've tried them all!
Limited vegetarian choices
Lovely pub on the river. Very good food and exceptional staff. Will go back many times.
It couldn’t be a more friendly place. Try it!!!
Food and service were good. Bitterly disappointed at the end of the evening that the option to pay a gratuity was left open on the credit card machine. Despite the fact that there is a hefty 12.5% service charge already included in the bill. I fell for this and inadvertently added another 12.5 % to the bill. Left with a bitter taste in my mouth.
Food very poor . One dish inedible and had to be sent back! Would not recommend or visit again
We really enjoyed our time at the City Barge. The staff was great on all levels and the food was quite good. I had the fish-and-chips along with a soup. My colleague has the trout and the duck appetizer.
I would recommend going there, tho I did feel it was a bit pricey.
My party loved the place especially the neat app for the gluten and lactose intolerant guests.
We would most definitely recommend this place. Friendly, relaxed atmosphere, superb food and outstanding customer service.
The City Barge is a quaint gastropub on the river Thames. It has board games, a space which makes you feel like you're in a living room, an outside area with seats and an all-round general good vibe. Food is gastropub worthy albeit quite expensive for a 2-course meal for 4 with wine and drinks.
Recommended but don't forget your wallet!
Really friendly staff, great food and great service. Couldn’t ask for more, will definitely be back.
By the river in a beautiful stretch of houses which have not changed significantly in the last fifty years. Good food and a great atmosphere
We had a family dinner. Service was lovely, and excellent food - huge portions!
Delicious lamb and sliced potatoes. We ordered a carpaccio, which it wasn’t really- the meat was already half cooled.
Very good service, was seated quickly and didn’t have to wait long for anything. Very afternoon out.
Good food, if slow service - seems to be a reoccurring theme...
We are there on Tuesday evening. The evening was made by the wonderful friendly servers who couldn't have been more helpful. By the way, the food was excellent!
Great choice of food and service was excellent! We thoroughly enjoyed our evening!
As a family of 4 we had a great time at the City Barge. Very friendly, great service and relaxed atmosphere. Children options and husband’s roasts were great. My vegetarian main was not my highlight but the starter and dessert were superb. I’d definitely recommend
It was Father’s Day so it was busy, crowded & noisy. Staff coped admirably & food was up to the usual standard (large portions, well cooked & v tasty) but service felt a bit stressed & noise meant it was hardly relaxing. Fair value for money
We had a lovely meal for Father’s Day. It was really busy so the food took quite a while to come out but we didn’t mind that as all meals were really nice. Great atmosphere.
Lovely friendly atmosphere, beautiful surroundings and delicious food.
Excellent service and would definitely go back.
Food good. Although would have liked more vegetarian choices. Our table was in a corner and was not the best position. Service was okay and one of our party had allergens which was addressed well. Would come again but felt there was room for improvement.
Service was excellent but the roast meat and vegetarian was awful, we left most of it. I love the normal menu but the roast is canteen food.
Great food. Average service. Circa 30 min delay for the table - which was available but team just not ready to dit’s us. Result was we were not eating until nearer 9pm than 8pm. Sense was no one person in charge and everything was all over the place as a result.
Fabulous food, not too expensive, great atmosphere!
My and my partners parents met for the first time here. Was the perfect place! Watch out the the high tide...
I had fish and Chips here and it was fabulous. The fish was cooked perfectly and the batter was lovely and crispy. The chips to be honest were probably the best chips i've ever eaten in my life. The waitresses were attentive and friendly. Would definitely eat here again. It was very busy so very noisy
The staff are always welcoming and attentive and the menu really unusual. The food is never a disappointment.
This is the best pub on Strand on the Green. It has a lovely buzz, great river views, lovely food and good, friendly service.
My family and I are regular visitors of the City Barge and it always the first place we take friends/family when they come to see us. We love the river location, the airy and spacious feel, the food is always delicious and the staff friendly and charming. Thank you.
Food was OK the glass noodle starter with lime and coriander was very tasty, but the softshell crab 'burger' was disappointing there are better ways to serve softshell crab (which I love) , in a bun is not one of them. However what really put me off on entering the restaurant was the smell , old deep frying oil smell?
I was dining with a friend from Canada
Always great atmosphere and service - very friendly pub with a fab menu.
Very busy - was a hot Bank Holiday but most people were outside and we had table in. Food took a while to come but otherwise service was attentive, didn't have to wait ages when asked for the bill.
Toilets not particulalry clean, evidence maybe of the number of kids around - not all supervised.
Food was very nice, the menu has a few non standard pub grub dishes - but a bit more of a description on the menu as to what they actually are would help.
Great location and space but food was disappointing. Service was ok
Unique pub by the Thames, nice layout with lots of books and crannies and lovely staff serving us. The food was lovely (roasties a bit dry for me) and fantastic wine list. Definitely recommended for a lazy sunny weekend drink or meal
