Nestled in the heart of Morden The Cock and Bottle is steeped in tradition. With parts of the pub dating back some 400 years, we offer all the charms of an "olde-worlde" Dorset village inn. Our reputation is enhanced by being named regional winners for the best food pub for the last three years by Hall & Woodhouse.
The Cock and Bottle is one of the best places around to enjoy hearty food at its best. John, the chef is renowned for his cuisine and has worked tirelessly to produce a menu that caters for all tastes. His ever changing menu reflects the fresh game and fish available each day, and covers everything from lamb shank to steak and kidney suet pudding, rabbit pie to chicken curry, which is made to john"s own recipe. For fish lovers there are a number of dishes, including sea-bass, haddock, salmon and skate wing. To finish off why not try one of our homemade desserts. The pub also offers an extensive and varied range of real ales and wines.

Used to be above average pub food but now just “ pub grub” - no longer worth the journey as in with the “ pack” of ok pub food pubs

We recently visited the Cock and Bottle and thoroughly enjoyed our freshly cooked meals, baked sea bass and chicken curry (and a sneaky little dessert to follow). We eat out most weeks and have to say it was up there with the very best of local Dorset pubs, definitely worth a visit. Hope you enjoy it as much we did.

Great value and can understand why the Cock and Bottle is one of the top 10 pubs in Dorset. The food is excellent and well presented.
I would have no issues to recommend this pub to family and friends.

Bank holiday lunch with the family - excellent food and quickly served. Had been to a very expensive restaurant a few days before in Winchester and this was far better - will definitely be back!

Once or twice a year with an aged aunt who looks forward to eating with you; but the welcome and service seemed particularly agreeable this time.

As always, the Cock & Bottle staff have excelled themselves and delivered a lovely meal and drinks in a fantastic atmosphere.

We began by asking for a small group table, but at the last minute we had to expand to a larger party. The staff worked hard to accommodate our needs and delivered a great memory for the children and us.

Our group visits various eateries across the county and a 'thumbs up' to return to the Cock & Bottle at a later date says it all! Thank you for an enjoyable experience!

A wonderful meal.. I had had the Haddock Risotto before and returned especially for that (oh.. and my boyfriend's birthday). We followed it with Strawberry Cheesecake and Creme Brulee.
It was absolutely delicious.
Thank you.

Really liked the pub. The food was good as was the service. We went for my sister’s birthday and although I indicated it was a birthday celebration on the online booking form, nothing special was done for her. It didn’t ruin our meal, but might have been a nice touch and what’s the point of asking.

The venison en croute was sensational, cooked to perfection, the vegetables just right and chips crisp, hot and no sign of any oil. My wife had the scallops that were also outstanding . Service was friendly and efficient and prices sensible. Overall - Excellent!

Once again had a good choice - the crab had made a welcome return in the 'Starter' selection.
Colourful and tasty salds. Sea Bass a shade on the small side! Excellent sweet - warm cherries in a meringue nest with cream.

Took mum for mother’s dey - had a lovely Sunday roast. They gave mum’s a bunch of daffodils, which was a lovely touch. The only lower score was ambience, but that was mainly due to where our table was positioned. Fab food and excellent service

I was rather disappointed that the pie was in fact a casserole with a disc of pastry on it rather than a proper pie. It was also only warm, not hot, although my companions food was hot. My plate wasn't hot. It was very tasty though.
The pot of tea was also not really hot and was stewed as if it had been made before the coffees that my companions had.
I will go again as I have previously had lovely food here and hope this was a one off.

The Sunday roast was excellent, plenty even for a large appetite. The veg were well cooked and nicely presented. I had the cheesecake for dessert which was delicious. We went on a cold day so it was lovely to see an open log fire making it feel very cosy. This is a popular pub so you do need to book to avoid any disappointment.

The food, as always was good however the older waitress did make us feel we were taking our time with our starters. I suspect the main course was ready and sitting under a heater which is not good practice. We prefer to pause between courses and enjoy a relaxed dining experience.
The young lad who was assisting the waitress was polite and helpful

We have been coming to the Cock & Bottle for many years now and the food is consistently excellent. The steak & kidney pudding is a beautiful thing; venison wellington is lovely and this time I tried the chicken curry which was well presented and perfect for lunch. Desserts are also lovely, everything home cooked. Service is fast, friendly and caring. Have been recommending to friends for years and all are very happy.

Second time we have visited the Cock and Bottle. Received a very warm welcome and the quality of the food and level of service was excellent, just as per the prior visit a few years ago. Would definitely recommend it and will be returning again in the future.
