Really first class service in first class surroundings. But the food doesn’t match the service and the setting. It is rather ordinary, and in that context is very expensive.
The Bar area is a great place to relax and have a pre dinner drink. The bar team are just so friendly and professional. So many great choices on the restaurant menu. The classic seafood cocktail is mouth-wateringly good. My girlfriend had the chicken pie which was superb. I had the chicken in a spicy coating which whilst no as good as the pie was enjoyable. Finished meal with a classic sherry trifle. All in all a great place and we will return.
Great food in a gorgeous restaurant. Loved the Colony salad and the US steak is fabulous!
This was an early business dinner and I can’t speak highly enough
Another good visit. Great staff and nice atmosphere... the liver and bacon could have been better, liver slightly tough, but all in all a great restaurant
We love The Colony Grill Room! Always have a great time. Food, service, ambiance... perfect.
Fabulous atmosphere, excellent service and wonderful food.
Fabulous brunch! Best pancakes ever!
I Have been eating in high end London hotel restaurants for 30 years from Claridges and The Savoy down but this was my first visit to The Colony in The Beaumont and it was everything I hoped for and more. From the very pleasant staff to the superb Art Deco design and very comfortable seats it was very pleasant on the eye and behind! The food didn't disappoint either. The rib eye was beautifully cooked and the Banana Fosters speciality dessert was amazing. Overall the best restaurant experience in years even bettering my other local favourite across Grosvenor Square, Scott's. Looking forward to returning.
Nice place, but tables too small.
Delicious food, great service and I would recommend
Service was not good. We had to wait a long time for our beverages and our food was average. Out server was not very friendly either. For the price, this was not worth it.
Perhaps, it is hard to judge a restaurant on a special occasion or from one experience. However, I was extremely pleased with my decision to have my dinner at The Colony Grill. The atmosphere is charming. It is elegant without being stuffy, not too loud, not too quiet. The lighting was appropriately soft. For me the decor is important, and the The Colony doesn't disappoint.
The wait staff were friendly and accommodating without being overly personal. The maitre d' was extremely welcoming. I happened to be on my own, and was still given a central table and never neglected in the least.
The food was very good. Not knock your socks off, but very good. I came at 9:00 and the restaurant was full . In general the crowd dining was older, 40s/50s and older, but there were some younger couples. Also, it isn't the kind of place to come to in jeans or sweatpants. Though, I don't think there is a dress code, or if there is, it isn't enforced. Only one family brought their children, and that same family were dressed more for an evening in front of the television. They were certainly the exception.
Bravo - and thank you for a really enjoyable dinner.
Not a place for. Good food . Everybody work there was miserable except the manager was very nice and server
Very disappointed with this, I expected more from Corbyn & King. Service was awful, three times we had to ask for our wine to be topped up and we were one of only 4 tables at the time! Despite telling staff all night we were wheat and dairy intolerant, when they brought my pudding they had stuck a wafer on it!! Unbelievable. Will not be going back again. Such a shame as the Wolseley, Delaunay, Zedel et al are so good.
Great menu of classics
Lovely bread basket
Minestrone soup was delicious!
Not great. Grumpy and disappointing service - doesn't justify a cover charge plus service charge. Staff didn't seem bothered that we were there and if we were ok. Food nothing special and have had better elsewhere for less cost. Would not return. Disappointed.
Good food and good value
Recommended by a friend, the Colony Grill Room is part of the art deco Beaumont Hotel, very 30's, atmospheric, nice clientele, great bar for pre-dinner drinks, great food (the Middlewhite pork chop was delicious) good wine list. Worth a visit and I wil return at some point. Excellent.
A lovely evening albeit very busy as you would expect on a Friday evening two weeks before Xmas. Despite that, the service was as good as ever as was the food. The lobster bisque was delightful and packed full of flavour, the liver and bacon was beautifully cooked and tender, the fillet steak was perfect and the Chicken pie a real treat. We shall be back again.
Celebrating a special occasion with my daughters and so glad I chose the Colony Grill. Great menu with something to please everyone. Highlights were the crab starter, the Macaroni cheese and the Veal chop. Excellent service and very relaxed atmosphere. Next time in London, we will definitely be back to try more of the extensive menu. Thank you for a really lovely evening.
It was our first time visiting, found the staff lovely and friendly, food was amazing, venue was memorable. Definitely planning another visit.
Chris Corbin and Jeremy King have with their team created a magnificent dining experience. The Colony Grill is a “cool looking “ dining room. Terrific classic and some contemporary dishes served with elegance and professionalism that’s so often missing in many restaurants today.
Corbin and King never fail to deliver. Cannot wait to go back again.
Despite booking a table and the restaurant being nearly empty we were asked to wait in the bar whilst a table was prepared. Service very slow and eventually we asked if we could order. For a whopping £32 for breakfast and drinks expected perfection but probably the worst poached eggs I have had (even I can get a runny yolk but these were solid) and the bacon was too crispy. Had to ask twice for the orange juice that came as part of the breakfast which eventually arrived once we had finished eating. No one asked if we had enjoyed our breakfast but had no trouble wacking on a service charge. Sure lots of better and cheaper places for breakfast 🍳
Went for my daughters 18th. Really lovely meal great service friendly staff
I absolutely love it here. I’ve been several times and always have a great evening
Expensive but great atmosphere, amazing décor, really delicious food, eclectic wine list, friendly and professional employees. Over all an amazing dinning experience.
I’ve been many time for various occasions to the Colony Grill and has never been disappointing in fact quite the opposite😊 always familiar pleasant staff wich is always a good sign in any catering establishment as the turnover in staff tends to be high and especially in a big City.
Decent surroundings, classy. Food very good, but slightly on the expensive side for what was delivered. Service; seemed to look slightly down their nose at the non hotel clientele.
Overall great experience but ever so slightly over priced for what was served.
We’d heard a lot of good things about the Colony Grill Room. There sure was a lot of flourish from the staff. But that seemed like all there was to the experience: good looks. I ordered a glass of champagne to be delivered with my food but it came right away. I asked for it to be put back into a cooler until the food was ready and had to ask for it again several minutes after my food arrived. Everything we had (chicken pot pie, grilled lobster) was good but not great. I’d asked for tap water and had to flag a waiter every time I wanted my glass filled—they mostly ignored us. Then the bill came with a £2 cover charge per person for dinner. Seriously. We won’t be going back to the Colony Grill Room.
Ordered the oysters, was served 5 instead of 6 and told them. food was nice but not amazing-i ordered sea bream. But my friend ordered haddock rice it came with almost a whole plate of rice with an egg. It doesn't look colorful or appetizing. I felt pretty bad about that.
I had to request a cappuccino three times, when it eventually arrived it was weak and insipid.
Whilst the waiting staff were polite, the service was poor, unusual for this normally consistent eaterie
Does have the American grill room feel with the food to match. My better half had a large portion of dover sole which was the best she has had. My sea bass was very good. Wine selection is reasonable. Will definitely come back to sample the other selections (pot pie and shepherds pie). Service very accomodating. They moved us away from a noisy family table.
Beautiful art-deco surroundings. Romantically lit and authentic cocktails and all make this restaurant/bar a special place for a night out. Grilled lobster & chips was fantastic - not over cooked and calves liver & bacon cooked perfectly. Service was great and no fuss when we asked to move to a less draughty table.
Will certainly return and recommend.
Delicious food, lovely ambience, super wine but marred by the discourteous attitude of our (male) waiter, who, apart from forgetting certain bits of our meal, lacked basic manners and the essence of elementary hospitality.
My Wife and I were in London for a few days and we dined at the Colony Grill Room on our first evening. We loved everything about it. The service was friendly but not intrusive. We had drinks while we looked at the Menu, which was extensive. Food was excellent, topped off with an Ice Cream Sundae for dessert, made to your specification. Will definitely recommend and return.
I have been many times but on this occasion it was deeply disappointing. The fried chicken was overdone and the burrata cheese starter was very salty. The dessert however was excellent . Overall mediocre
Excellent service and attention to details. The shepherds pie was delicious as was the calves liver. Desssert can be personalised and you can choose your own toppings flavours and sauces. Can't wait to come back
The Colony Grill Room continues to deliver on many levels. A bustling hot spot, where everyone feels like a celebrity. The unique atmosphere makes you feel as if you're stepping back in time - a supper club from NYC in the 1940s. But, the recipes are relevant and delicious. I'd come from miles to enjoy that Shepherd's Pie. Exceptional. I'll be back...
