"Eat heartily & give the House a good name" is the sound ethos of this thoroughly British pub, specialising in oysters, guinness and seasonal food. Seafood figures strongly. A seafood platter for two includes Fines de Claire & Irish rock oysters, whole dorset crab, prawns, clams, whelks and winkles. Other favourites are the Cow fish stew, homemade crab tagliolini. Alternatively, try daily specials such as lamb's kidney's, black pudding and mustard sauce, or slow roasted belly of old spot pork with wild mushrooms. Drinks include real ales on tap and a carefully crafted wine list.
Cow Fish Stew
Rouille & Crouton
Six Oysters Tasting Plate
The Cow serves amazing food. The fish stew was the best I’ve ever had. My girlfriend had the chicken Kiev which was excellent. For starters, I had the mackerel pate and my girlfriend had the grilled goats cheese which I would highly recommend.
I love the dining room upstairs, it’s really cosy. If you like your Guinness then you’re not going to get much better then here in West London.
Excellent value for the quality of food received and Yosev the restaurant manager was exceptionally pleasant and attentive.
I give five stars for everything barring the ambiance, which I only knocked to four stars because it was busy downstairs in the main bar area. Outside the premises on this occasion was very busy which was a bit uncomfortable entering and exiting the bar and restaurant.
I honestly think this may be the best Sunday roast in town. A total delight from start to finish!
The fish stew was simply delicious! Would highly recommend this restaurant.
Great food and fabulous service - buzzy atmosphere
Loved it. Old school charm with modern food. Very high quality fish and sea food in a relaxed, calm environment. Will definitely visit again.
It was excellent
Great food and really nice service! Ot was good for fresh seafood and decent yummy food during the week - casual but yet great quality
Loved it. The cheese plate is a must do! The meat pie was the best I ever had and the crab pasta was beautiful.
We had Sunday lunch upstairs. It was really quiet only our table and another group booking of 6 or so. Therefore lacking at atmosphere and ambience. It’s a nice dining room and I can see how it could be vibey.
We had the pint of prawns which were a little disappointing. The roast made up for it, though. The beef perfectly cooked and great roasties and carrots.
Great staff !! Bonkers paintings , Brilliant oysters and very good sausages and mash ... what’s not to love
Although the food was good the service was so atrocious that I will never want to go back. Me yes we’re given after 20 mins we asked to order another 10 mins went by and someone asked if we would like to order we said yes.... another 10 mins later we asked them again to take the order. Bothwaiter and waitress were RUDE. Eventually the order was taken.... the wine forgotten, warm sparkling water served....... the list goes on....
You have to taste their lemon tart!!! Succulent.
Very nice food, in a bistro ambiance.
Quite caring service
Excellent food served by first class waiting staff in a very pleasant airy first floor dining room above a traditional (and very good) London pub. All dishes were good but worthy of a special mention is the Cow fish stew. I will go again.
Seafood and salad fresh and tasty. Very good value for money
One of my favorite places, never disappoints. Recommended!
very good pub food and impressed by barman Pedro who put the Timothy Taylor beer back on and it was excellent
I can’t fault The Cow, the service was impeccable, the food was INCREDIBLE! I will definitely be back again. We were the only people in the restaurant, but that was quite nice and it was a sunny day so most people were enjoying the weather.
If you have nothing else order a pint of prawns They are to die for!
I had a lovely time. We had a nice little table upstairs in front of the window. The food was nice and so the service. Definitely recommended.
It’s great so don’t go there as I might not be able to get a table next time :) the chicken Kiev is the best accompanied by a pint of quality Guinness. Enjoy.
Service was not good at the restaurant
I really love this place. It is perfect for dining with a small group of friends or just for inviting your girlfriend.
We had the visit of the chef at our table, and in general service is really perfect. Seafood was very good
No one in the place on a Monday night so little atmosphere and too much loud music and shouting from downstairs. Welcome very unfriendly
Excellent service by waitstaff that seem to be happy to work there. Very helpful in describing the dishes. As its predominately a seafood menu it isn't going to be cheap. The half/pint of prawns is great albeit it fiddly to eat. I had the Sunday roast which was perfectly cooked.
Just as expected
This is my favourite food pub in London.
Had a lovely dinner with my husband and as they were out of one type of oysters we ordered they gave us two extras of the ones they did have! Always a great place that gives you two extra oysters..! Thanks The Cow from the Cowells xxx
A fantastic night had by all, food and service was top notch, old fashioned pub that needs no gimmicks , loved it.
One of the best meals I have had in London for a long time. Very good service and very good value. Quite a loud room.
The Fish Stew was the outstanding entree among several excellent offerings. This small cozy dining room above a boisterous neighborhood pub was a lucky find.
The GM was a lovely man, he added to our special evening. Thank you. Loved our meals, ambience was great. Recommended by another US friend, well worth going to!
Group of very drunk/high men in restaurant that the staff could not control. Should have moved them to bar after they had finished eating. Instead the staff admitted they thought it was easier and non confrontational to leave them alone - not good for the other diners. Shame as food was excellent but impossible to have a conversation across the table
Old fashioned in a good way and with a local neighbourhood feel
Too many such pubs are disappearing ie di burgers so let’s support The Cow
fantastic food and the staff were superb, great buzz in the pub downstairs before and after
Nice, friendly atmosphere. Perfect pasta. Lovely choice of English cheese. Good wine list.
Wonderful!! The best Sunday roast We ever ate!! Excelente ambience and staff.
Great food. Great staff. Quirky decor. Loved it all.
Great venue and well cooked food. Saw a couple of the seafood 'spectaculars' being delivered to other tables and these really were impressive. Not cheap but great service.
Fabulous local gastro pub.. sublime oysters & wine list... Chicken Kiev also highly recommended
