The food and service was fine but the restaurant was cold and we had to move tables to nearer the fire.
Not visited the Cricketers for a couple of years, last experience was a bit disappointing but this visit was a pleasant surprise. The Sunday lunch was very good and filling. Maybe a touch pricey? Will certainly be returning.
It was too cold where we were eating. Had to have a blanket on my knees. One meal had to go back as not eatable
Disappointed with Menu, did not seem a large choice as I remember from the past, and was quiet chilly where we sat, down the far end
Unfortunately the food was cold and bland, two of the desserts were inedible and service was very slow. Staff were lovely and it’s always a lovely setting, however, the food on this occasion was a huge letdown
Food was excellent.
Our table was a little crammed in - but that’s just probably because it was so busy.
Thought the wine was a little pricey but we would still definitely go back. Best roast dinner in ages! Thanks.
This time I was thoroughly disappointed with the value and atmosphere in the restaurant
The area inside was freezing cold as staff kept leaving the outside door open and customers going in and out
Food was average but prices exhort it’s the whole a starter on average £9
Little choice for mail meal I presume this was because it was a Sunday A glass of wine £9-50 a bit over the top
A shame as previous occasions good luck👎👎👎👎
Jaz at the bar gave a warm welcome and kindly ensured request re ventilation /window was met.
Sophie, our waitress, was helpful, friendly and thoughtful.
A lovely building with beautiful beams. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming.
Had a reasonable table in the middle a little drafty at time service was good but the food was just average probably wouldn’t go back only because food wasn’t great it wasn’t bad either just average
I had the corned beef hash and it was delicious, my mother had the prawns and thought they were delicious too. My only complaint is I ordered a berry cider and it arrived in a pint glass call me old fashioned but I do not enjoy drinking from pints being female also we ordered cheesy garlic bread for the table for starters which arrived with the main meal and whilst cheesy had very little garlic flavour if any and was cold. These are two small things which did not spoil the lunch. The staff were accommodating and attentive.
Very nice venue. Staff were excellent and food was great.
started to add a service charge to the bill.........
Great food and service as always.Lovely atmosphere .
Great food, cosy ambiance, excellent service. Was quiet, as it was only 12pm on a Wednesday.
We had a lovely lunch with friends but wish we hadn’t been placed near outside door which kept opening as people had to use it to go to the toilet too and was quite cold. By the time people had started using it we had already got our starter (also only fire which wasn’t lit which didn’t help). Service and food was very good and would certainly come again
Fabulous pub, revisited after 45 years! Staff were polite and attentive. Food was amazing, portions were enormous. A lovely pub with a great atmosphere.
Waitress and hostess were amazing, food was stunning and portions were fabulous.. Can’t fault it. Thank you
Ambience was very cozy but would have been extra cozy with the fire on 😍!!
Excellent food and service all round. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the vegan fish and chips and I loved the shin of beef stew. Having had a starter too we were too full for dessert!! We will definitely return
Great venue for girls get together lovely staff good food and good value
Great food, service with a smile and we will return.
Our meal was delicious. We enjoyed the sausage, mash and onion rings. My only one criticism and, I know they’re applying to government regulations, but it was cold in the restaurant especially as it’s so open plan that’s why I haven’t given 4 stars for ‘Overall’.
Great service and food as always
great to be back after many years, with a lovely set of staff in Halloween gear.
Food was ok, service was good.
It was very quiet for a Saturday night and Saturday and we had a choice of tables when we booked, while all other local pubs and the local restaurant was fully booked. Now I understand why.
Extremely poor service due to the inexperienced staff and lack of management. We had to keep asking at the bar to order drinks or food as no staff gave us any attention. When we did get drinks, no empty glasses were taken away from the table and the mess simply grew. The food was cold, bland, dry and very overpriced for what it was. Toilets were unclean and the general ambience was lacking.
We are village locals and, having not been here since before covid due to previous unsatisfactory experiences, we hoped to be impressed this time. Sadly, the whole evening was worse than we expected and we will not return. A bill of £180 for 4 people to be served poor quality food by unmanaged staff was infuriating. From the number of empty tables on a Saturday night, it is clear that the locals have voted with their feet and not booked to dine at this venue. We will be doing the same. I will not go back to a pub in this chain.
Not sure why, but when I ordered bacon, brie and cranberry on ciabata it came as a cold sandwich with not the freshest of white bread. I asked if it could be toasted if no ciabata was available and it was taken back to the kitchen.
When my food came back it was hot and on ciabata and it was delicious...
Very poor service, staff could not wait for us to leave after we had finished eating. We left at 9.45pm!
Menu was limited, little choice for a healthy light supper
Good and friendly service. Food was good overall. Good local beer.
The staff were quite sour, not horrible but not at all engaging. The food menu itself was daubed in old food. The food choice was pretty much a roast with some options. The quality of the food was very average nothing special and overcooked generally. We had to chase for drinks.
Overall just not very impressed, we were the last our at 9:30pm.
Usually very good for food and service but this time the service was terrible.
A lovely country pub that we hadn’t been to for a while so decided to head here for my Wife’s birthday. Bit disappointed with the standard of the food compared to previous experiences dining here. Wife ordered the beef hash but it came up as shredded beef on top of cabbage. Not what we expected for an order of beef hash. I had the pie of the day which was good. The kids beef burger that came with skinny fries was quite small which was fine for our daughter but at £8.50 I think it is overpriced for what you get. Will be back in the future but probably for Sunday dinner as the food has always been excellent when we have visited previously on that day.
service was excellent, friendly staff, good meal..
Nice venue, menu was disappointing and food was bland
As always our go to pub where you know food abs drinks will be good! Another fantastic meal!
The attention from all the staff could not have been bettered, however the food was not up to previous experiences at this establishment. The soup was not piping hot and although the Menu said that the sausages were collected daily from the Butchers, it did not say that they were then cooked that day and reheated the next day, a big disappointment. I have not discussed the meal with my friend, but I do know that he found his main course a little dry. If I do book again, it will be because of the Cricketers location and hopefully they still have the same staff.
Food was OK, expensive for the quality.
Was rather unimpressed when the waitress collected out dessert plates and told us they need the table back in 10 minutes!
Seriously rude! We had only been there 1.5hrs! No after dessert coffee or drink was offered, or even if we wanted it we were pretty much kicked out!
We swiftly moved from our table to the tiny bar which was jam packed with no where to stand let alone sit!
Ended up having to cut our evening short snd went for a drink at the George Inn down the road, who were more than welcoming.
Very poor experience here tonight.
Everything was very nice, and the staff were extremely friendly. Perhaps the only downside was the rather long wait for drinks then food to arrive at the table. More staff need l think.
My wife and I enjoyed our meal at The Cricketers, the only thing that spoiled it was the fact that the door leading to the outside area kept being left open and the draught from the outside made it uncomfortable to enjoy the meal.
Gourmet burger was dry and overcooked. Bun was hard. Nepalese beef curry had three pieces of beef, the rest was potatoes and sauce.
Was given a pint of bitter instead of shandy. Was a 5pm booking so they wasnt busy. Very disappointed. NOT what i think a gastro pub is….
Lovely traditional looking pub with a pretty garden over looking a windmill. Food was excellent, a really nice selection of food. Chose this place for its location and menu different to the usual pub grub. Definitely will return. Service brilliant.
