The Crown at Bray
We have been busy re-arranging our marquee for the season ahead, creating a large and airy enclosed, heated space with views of our beer garden. There is plenty of space to ensure you can relax whilst maintaining social distancing whether you are looking to enjoy a drink or dine with friends.
Tables for dining in our Garden Marquee must be reserved. We also have tables available on first come first serve basis in our original Pub, available on request.
All tables whether for reservations or drinks will have table service only.
We must advise that payment must be by card only.
The menu has also had a seasonal makeover.
The Crown at Bray retains a traditional village pub atmosphere while offering a modern pub menu, drinks selection and service style.

Fish & Chips
Crushed Peas & Homemade Tartar Sauce, Haddock
with Pastrami & Smoked Cheese, Mustard, Pickles & Fries
Very pricey for not well cooked food. Duck confit so over cooked it was mostly hard meat and the mash was so sticky would have made good wallpaper paste.
Atmosphere in the tent is sort of canteen like. Only saving Grace was the service
The wigwam setting is lovely and the staff were really friendly - but the food was pretty poor and expensive. The tabbouleh was weird; more like arborio rice, than bulgar wheat - and the proportion of grain to herb was way off, so it wasn’t fragrant at all; like eating a like warm, dry, risotto. The courgette fritti were not the crisp matchsticks we had hoped for, instead they were basically fat, soft, courgette chips. We ordered five small plates and shared a bottle of wine for £100. Definitely feels like a high premium has been applied, but it’s pretty audacious to assume people are satisfied to pay it because of a name above the door. There are so many better local pubs to eat in, where the food fulfils the basic requirement of resembling what is detailed on the menu and tastes good.
Typically the service is warm and hospitable but on this occasion it was very disappointing. The Crown is the children’s favourite place and burgers and they were not up to the usual standard.
Excellent meal. Good value. Lovely atmosphere.
Food very disappointing
Delicious food, I had the burger, cooked to perfection.
Delightful outdoor space.
Will definitely come back!
Great service, loved the marquee and enjoyed the burger.
ensure to get a table far from the kitchen otherwise can be a bit smelly.
food not as good as I remembered.
Rushed, average food and over priced.
Won't be going again
VFM poor I’m afraid
Reasonable pub food but nothing special
Valentine’s Day. Nice food. Not such an interesting wine selection and the fire wasn’t on.
What a lovely pub with gorgeous food. We love going there when we have a chance and always had an amazing service and food.
Great food and great service
We had a lovely evening at the Crown.
The welcome from the lovely bar manager and knowledgeable advice regarding wine was very well received.
Lovely service and delicious quality food. Well worth the extra few pounds for a ‘pub’ dinner.
Would definitely return.
Excellent upmarket pub, very nice very simple
Best beef carpaccio ever and wild mushroom risotto rich in flavours and textures - it keeps on getting better each time we return!
My son who attends school nearby and I always enjoy our Saturday lunches at this gastro pub. We love the food of course - from delicious classics like hamburgers to seasonal specialities like wild mushroom risotto - but also the typical decor and great company.
Wrong wine served
Watery chicken and mushroom pie, thin crust
Oil dripping fish and chips
Linguine overly oily
Ordered sourdough bread and served brown .. no explanation
Bloody awful and overly priced, disappointing as we were entertaining guests from overseas. Regrettably mislead by the Heston name. Never again.
Last night of our vacation in England!
We had the turkey lunch, and although what we had was delicious, we only had 4 sprout leaves and no carrots at all. The pub had 2 open fires which were not lit, hence it was quite chilly.
Met with friends for food and drinks in the garden really good atmosphere lovely day and great service
Over the last few years we have eaten at The Crown a half dozen times and always been happy with the quality and service. Last Friday was unfortunately not up to the previous visits. A side dish was missed off the order and so delivered late, the food was not great and when the bill came it was wrong. Didn't get a great response from our server when we raised any of these points!! As I say, its been very good before but not this time.
Great please for lunch or dinner. The food is always amazing.
Sadly, the menu for this pub doesn't change often enough and it has been brought to the attention of the owner and head chef on many occasions by numerous people. The pub is no longer affiliated with Heston Blumenthal, yet they still give the impression it is and charge the same prices. This is a pub that has no celebrity chef and is very misleading. The service can be hit and miss but generally ok. The food is generally good, however with a menu that has been the same for years and is boring.
Good quality Sunday lunch. Loved it and would definitely recommend
Simple food but done exceptionally well! My steak was the best steak I have had to date, perfectly cooked and the sauce was beautiful. Service was also very good, we had a very attentive waiter, all dishes and finished glasses were quickly cleared away. Al staff we encountered were very polite and friendly.
Very good ambiance super staff attitude a credit to the establishment .
We had a fantastic time at the Crown this weekend. Food was superb, wine as well, and staff was just perfect in every way (pro, efficient, friendly, helpful...). I strongly recommend the Crown.
Always excellent. All the members of the team are so welcoming and always remember us. A family favourite
Better food available elsewhere at a much cheaper price. Also a very poor attitude to foid allergies.
pleasant atmosphere, nice food but not exceptional, quite good service but overall pricy. 1 x alcohol free beer, Soup, fish and chips, creme brûlée, coffee @ £62.00. AC
The Crown has a genuine old English pub feel, low beams, friendly atmosphere, interesting menu with a few surprises and presumably Heston’s take on some pub classics. Highly recommended
A lovely Sunday lunch
Needed a decent local place to take visiting friends, so it was a great chance to try the Crown which has been on the to-do list for a while. We were seated in a nice, quieter area away from the bar which was perfect for dinner. Welcome and service was warm and friendly, seated immediately and offered water whilst we selected drinks.
Wine menu is extensive and reasonably priced, a slight shame that they had very low stock on the wine we were most interested in, but we just sampled a few different wines during the evening instead.
Food was sublime, particularly the Tomahawk Steak that two of us shared. The group all reported excellent meals. Cheeseboard slightly disappointing value for money, but nice nonetheless.
Overall a really enjoyable evening, fantastic food, wine and service. Can't wait to go back.
Very enjoyable Saturday lunch. Looking forward to our next visit.
Something has changed! Not necessarily for the better. The previously outstanding prwN cocktail has rather lost its twist. Presentation no longer special thanks to a change in stemware. Lettuce suffers as a consequence. The rib eye steak was truly excellent, a real triumph. The chunky chips and the fries were bothe very good, but what happened to the fish from the fish and chips. This was a standout, but the last couple of times it has been poor. The batter was floaty and brittle, lacking that all important mouth feel. The haddock inside was mediocre. A small piece that rather dried out. Not up to standard, despite it being a very quiet night.
What a great place and amazing food highly recommended to everyone if I was going to be real picky then the Yorkshires were a little greasy but the rest of the meal (3 course) was incredible
Fish and chips ok, too much mint in mushy peas. Risotto ok but at best a ten pound meal. 45 quid for proseco - complete rip off as well 19 quid for a coffee liqueur - and the 12.5 service charge is not required when u hike up the drinks prices like this. Great service , lovely waitress 10/10 for her. Value for money is poor - would recommend 10 others pubs which provide better food and reasonable prices
