Food was just incredible and a memorable long lunch. Staff were very busy, but at no point did we feel pressured. The pub itself was just beautiful too and we loved sitting where we could see the wood-fired pizzas going in and out to the small courtyard with all the plants inside and out. Just perfect.
The Crown has taken over from the Kings Arms as the place to have Sunday lunch in Woodstock! Its modern inside, well managed, friendly efficient staff and good food. Popular, and a good ambience. Don't think of anywhere else for pub food in Woodstock, just go here!
I love this pub. ... The waiting staff and the ambience are great. But the food seems to be getting worse. Pizza's shouldn't have a really burned underside and my last Sunday lunch there was tasteless, dry chicken. I think they need to up the ante a bit with quality control: it could be so great!
Nice atmosphere and very friendly staff. Unfortunately the food was hit and miss. Gnocchi was good as was the lamb shank, the seafood stew was very poor, basically tinned tomatoes with a few mussels and prawns. Very good walking distance to Blenheim Palace.
Lovely food and service unfortunately had run out of quite a few starters and some sides by 8pm but I put that down to it being xmas/bank holidays etc.
We were disappointed that our first 3 choices had all finished and it was only 7.30pm. When asking the waiter to explain what was in a certain starter, they had no idea! The pizzas were reasonably small and thick based. Not normally of the standard produced by a wood fired oven. Our experience didn’t match the reviews I had read. It could have been because it was the busy Christmas period but I would have thought this should have been even more the case to stock up on ingredients!
Most friendly staff in town
What a brilliant evening. Everyone from the bar to the table were cheerful and efficient. Thank you. Great, prompt service of excellent food and wine.
Such a shame - the pub itself is lovely and has friendly staff. The food was absolutely awful, Sunday dinner - over cooked veg, couldn’t eat the potatoes and the pork was so tough and the Yorkshire pudding was store brought. Very expensive for what is was and we drove 1.5 hours to come to this pub we were very disappointed.
Food was average and most things on the menu not available. Ordered side of chips but arrived to the table late so were more of a desert. Ordered a drink but came in a dirty glass with lipstick round the rim. Will not be returning here
Consistently fab food and service. Great times always had here!
Extremely helpful and knowledge member of staff looked after us really well. My friends allergy requests were all adapted and catered for too. Excellent lunch time menu with lots of choice and all freshly prepared.
Me and my husband travelled out to have a meal at the crown after looking online at the menu. However they didn’t have anything we wanted to eat as they had seemed to have run out. They didn’t seem bothered that every meal was unavailable so you would think that they would attempt to make the experience a bit better with a complimentary dish or drink or even discount but I don’t think they see service as an important aspect of dining. Huge disappointment for our experience.
Great menu and great atmosphere. Staff very friendly and efficient. Highly recommended.
The room was beautiful, a bit of noise from the road. The restaurant food was not great. I ordered a beef roast. The beef was chewy and parts inedible and the roast potatoes dry inside and not crispy. They tasted like warmed up frozen potatoes, which for £18 was very disappointing. I would not eat in the restaurant again. I did point out the meal was not good and it was not deducted from the bill. I was offered another meal but I wanted a roast beef, so no point bringing out more of the same.
The continental breakfast in the morning was good. Nice coffee, orange, juice and lovely croissants. The cooked breakfast was a let down. My partners fried egg looked totally inedible, again the standard was low.
There is good and not so good aspects of this place. With some extra thought around food quality and presentation it could be really good. At the moment it is just okay in my opinion.
Lovely pub & great food - would be nice to have a few more non alcoholic drink options.
We had dinner here for my partners birthday with 4 of our friends. Great atmosphere and fantastic food! We will definitely return!
Lovely meal and atmosphere. Will definitely be going back.
Really nice food in a very atmospheric and lively pub restaurant. Very friendly and attentive staff.
Delicious fresh bread just out of the oven - yum! Aubergine salad was surprisingly boring and a bit difficult to get through (but plenty of it - and we'd ordered small ones as mains!) Service friendly. Will be back.
Always a good bet for a nice lunch - a nice menu and good cooking in a bright, clean setting
Didn’t like the conservatory booked well in advance and shoved out the back with noises kids
Very good choice of starters and mains. There were 4 of us and we each had different dishes. We all enjoyed our choices.
We arrived to partake in a a few cocktails at happy hour and then ate yummy pizzas from the wood fired oven.
The conservatory is a pleasant eating area, with a lovely sociable atmosphere, later we enjoyed drinks in the lively bar area.
Once again, the innovative menu, quality of food is as good as it always is. So consistent. A great atmosphere, very reasonably priced, good service.
We will be back
Charming pub / restaurant. Very nicely decorated. Staff all very helpful and friendly. Very good portion sizes and the food was very tasty.
Service very poor - over an hour from sitting at the table to the first food arriving.
Food (mains) okay but nothing special.
Desserts variable - Apple crumble good, ice cream very poor.
Having been here in the past and had a really good experience this was a big let down.
Ok but pretty ordinary food and service. The other pubs and restaurants were full. The Crown was virtually empty, and with good reason.
It was OK really, rather than good. Quite expensive for what we got. The roast my girlfriend had was nice. I had Cod. The butter beans were cold and the green beans raw. The portion of cod was tiny. The sorbet was even smaller. The desert was really not worth the money.
We met with friends we hadn’t seen for ages. We had a great time
Waitress excellent. Food good. Wine waiter very miserable and offhand and didn’t know how to open the wine carefully
Great pub. Have eaten here before. Nice atmosphere on a Friday evening. Staff were lovely. Food was great. Padron peppers on the menu are always welcome.
nice venue child and dog friendly plenty of space , not exorbitant given it's location ..Near Blenheim Palace
We booked in advance for dinner on Thurs 1st August. There was nothing on the menu section to indicate that it would be a Spanish night and that the normal menu wouldn't be available. We chose the paella which was served tepid and we sent it back to be heated. It tasted very bland and there wasn't any seafood in it even thoughit was described and as seafood and meat paella. Very disappointing.
Consistent service and food. Friendly informal atmosphere. Contemporary menu and furnishings but in a traditional building.
We had a Sunday Lunch the meat was very good quality and the veg was good too.
Good service with a smile and a good atmosphere . Would go back again .
Excellent restaurant with attentive staff and great food
Good quality food, fresh and well cooked. Excellent beers as you’d expect from a pub. Service pleasant but a little confused on a busy Sat evening. If you’re in the area I am sure you could do far worse.
Second time here and had a great experience. Also been to the anchor their sister pub which is also good.
Varied menu and seem to cover all tastes
