We arrived to partake in a a few cocktails at happy hour and then ate yummy pizzas from the wood fired oven.
The conservatory is a pleasant eating area, with a lovely sociable atmosphere, later we enjoyed drinks in the lively bar area.
Once again, the innovative menu, quality of food is as good as it always is. So consistent. A great atmosphere, very reasonably priced, good service.
We will be back
Charming pub / restaurant. Very nicely decorated. Staff all very helpful and friendly. Very good portion sizes and the food was very tasty.
Service very poor - over an hour from sitting at the table to the first food arriving.
Food (mains) okay but nothing special.
Desserts variable - Apple crumble good, ice cream very poor.
Having been here in the past and had a really good experience this was a big let down.
Ok but pretty ordinary food and service. The other pubs and restaurants were full. The Crown was virtually empty, and with good reason.
It was OK really, rather than good. Quite expensive for what we got. The roast my girlfriend had was nice. I had Cod. The butter beans were cold and the green beans raw. The portion of cod was tiny. The sorbet was even smaller. The desert was really not worth the money.
We met with friends we hadn’t seen for ages. We had a great time
Waitress excellent. Food good. Wine waiter very miserable and offhand and didn’t know how to open the wine carefully
Great pub. Have eaten here before. Nice atmosphere on a Friday evening. Staff were lovely. Food was great. Padron peppers on the menu are always welcome.
nice venue child and dog friendly plenty of space , not exorbitant given it's location ..Near Blenheim Palace
We booked in advance for dinner on Thurs 1st August. There was nothing on the menu section to indicate that it would be a Spanish night and that the normal menu wouldn't be available. We chose the paella which was served tepid and we sent it back to be heated. It tasted very bland and there wasn't any seafood in it even thoughit was described and as seafood and meat paella. Very disappointing.
Consistent service and food. Friendly informal atmosphere. Contemporary menu and furnishings but in a traditional building.
We had a Sunday Lunch the meat was very good quality and the veg was good too.
Good service with a smile and a good atmosphere . Would go back again .
Excellent restaurant with attentive staff and great food
Good quality food, fresh and well cooked. Excellent beers as you’d expect from a pub. Service pleasant but a little confused on a busy Sat evening. If you’re in the area I am sure you could do far worse.
Second time here and had a great experience. Also been to the anchor their sister pub which is also good.
Varied menu and seem to cover all tastes
Enjoyable meal with excellent service.
An all-round lovely experience: great setting, excellent menu and perfect service (attentive but not invasive)
An excellent meal which we both really enjoyed. We opted for the Sunday roast and were delighted we did.
The service was first class and we would certainly visit again if we were in the area
Nothing special but nice food with quick service and attentive waiter
Not enough selection of desserts. Bit limited.
The food was great, fantastic service and atmosphere.
but the Wood Fire Gambas were not great. £8/9 and only 3 prawns, all of which weren’t cleaned properly and didn’t taste great
Great family Sunday lunch venue. Efficient staff and great roasts! Buzzy atmosphere and different areas of the pub/restaurant to sit in.
Handy for a work dinner, good gin menu! The food was well presented.
We were a bit disappointed with the main courses compared with our past experiences, especially the slow cooked lamb dish. This was supposed to come with caponata but we were told upon ordering that it would come with quinoa and green beans instead, which sounded OK. What arrived was a bowl full of plain quinoa with small pieces of lamb scattered on top and some green beans mixed in. We expected the lamb to be a whole piece, like a shank. The dish was a bit like something you make yourself from leftovers at home. It was unclear why the kitchen wasn't able to provide a sauce with it. We did mention this to the waitress at the end of the meal but we don't know if this was passed on to the kitchen.
Other than that, the food and wine was good.
Excellent and excellent service. Really nice atmosphere.
We love The Crown - the ambience etc. Love going there. But this is the second time we've had badly cooked food. My Paella was almost inedible. Massively overcooked with meat you could take a hacksaw to. I had to leave most of it. Sorry Crown - you need a new cook
Very good food, good value, attentive and helpful staff
Lovely venue and great staff, but food all prepared dry and cooked through (especially salmon couscous and chicken dishes)
Good food, good company, good fun, would come again.
Brought my father in law and his wife here for a thank you dinner, so while it wasn't a very special occasion, we wanted to treat them to something nice. The Crown is the perfect place for a casual special dinner providing a laid back atmosphere with fantastic food. We all had pizzas which were outstanding. My partner and father in law both had the meatballs to start which were also delicious. I was a little disappointed by the calamari which was a little bland and extremely oily, but everything else was on point. Service was also friendly and all the servers were attentive. Will definitely return!
Friendly staff and good quality food. Close to Blenheim palace
A very lovely building and nice decor. Food was very nice and the waiting staff were very helpful. The only thing that brought it down was half way through our meal, a large group came in, swearing and rowdy which ruined it a little. We hurried up our main course and drinks to get out of there. Also the bar staff should probably take their drug taking memoirs behind closed doors and not in front of customers at the bar.
We enjoyed our meal and the service was very good.
We were asked to specify the reason for coming to The Crown when we booked and I said it was for a birthday celebration ....there was however nothing festive about the table we were given next to the door of the well used store room ....
I really love coming to the Crown it's a lovely pub in Woodstock, which is nice to have a little walk around. The service at the Crown is always good.
Fabulous evening again.. food was lovely..
Service and friendliness of staff was excellent..
A lively evening..
Very good vibe and good pizza. The manager kindly intervened when we were being pestered by a customer who had clearly had too much to drink!
Cosy pub with great food. Cod meal I had was delicious. Service was excellent and staff friendly and welcoming.
A wonderful local eatery with outstanding management and service.
Solid restaurant in great location. Nice, light & airy, helpful staff and nice interior.
Having been to the sister pub - The Anchor, this was something of a disappointment based on 2 issues;
1) the Sunday roast beef - described as ‘medium rare’ was over-cooked and tough
2) the ‘cheese plate’ had one cheddar-like variety(ie no variation) cut into triangles - very 1980s!
