The Cumin Restaurant
Opened in 2007, the Cumin is situated just a stone’s throw from the Market Square and the castle. The restaurant offers a true taste of North Indian and Punjabi Cuisine.
The Cumin’s attained many awards over the years, Best Newcomer, Best in Midlands by Pat Chapman & the Cobra Guide for 2013 - 2014, shortlisted for the British Curry Awards 2014-2015 and receiving 5 star Metro rating are just a few.
These awards come from amazing cuisine, service & passion for the restaurant. Sunny who looks after front of house ensures all his guests are looked after, while our award winning executive chef Shelley brings the spices, aroma & flavors of North Indian Punjabi cuisine with a twist of his own skills & flare.
We had a fabulous meal. Excellent service - friendly and efficient. The menu is small but very authentic. We really enjoyed the food
Alway good food and very friendly staff.servie was brilliant
Great food, on the spicy side but very tasty and enjoyable. Lots of options and able to adapt the menu. Good wine selection and great atmosphere. Will be back!
Very friendly and attentive staff, a little more expensive than I 'm used to but it was in the centre of town.Food was delicious and arrived quickly
Excellent food and service. Could not fault the restaurant as a whole. We had a group of eight for a stag do having dinner and they were very welcoming considering the energy a few of the party bought to the atmosphere. Quick service with outstanding food and friendly staff. Would wholeheartedly recommend.
Went for a meal Monday night and it was great . Great service very friendly . The food was fantastic . Came away very full . An enjoyable evening
We have been going to try the cumin on several occasions whilst staying in Nottingham for weekend, finally made it last Saturday and wish we had been before, the food and service were excellent, it was a little pricey but sometimes you get what you pay for and this was worth every penny.
Very lively restaurant. The food was first class and the service was very good. The staff were very friendly. I would highly recommend the restaurant for those that enjoy high quality Indian food.
Great authentic Indian food. Good quality and value.
My wife & I went for our anniversary, without a doubt the best Indian restaurant I’ve ever been to. The food was outstanding. Highly recommended
Very good food and fast service but the main course portions were a little too small. We didn't order any starters and the main courses came very quickly despite the restaurant being quite busy because we went on a Saturday night. There were a few large parties which made the room was very noisy but apart from that it was a pleasant experience.
Each dish was delicious
Will definitely be returning
Managed to book in with a party of 15 for a stag do, very good food plenty of beer and good service. Excellent dishes enjoy by all.
Cumin is a great place to eat food always great, staff brilliant so friendly.we will definitely go again
Food was as lovely , staff great
Very nice meal thank you x
Really good Indian food. Really fresh, nicely spiced, perfectly cooked fish starter set the tone, but all the following dishes were pretty much as good. Highly recommend the birianis, with their pastry sealed lids opened at the table; this seems to successfully have the effect of trapping in the moisture and producing a full=of=flavour dish. Service is welcoming, friendly and efficient. There’s a few good Indian restaurants in Nottingham at the moment, but Cumin is one of the best.
It was a great meal with friendly staff. The service was very good went for 2 birthdays and both got a cake. The only negative comment was a little bit chilly so would wear a jumper would not put me off going again
Our favourite Indian restaurant! Food and service always excellent.
Everything is excellent. The food is exquisite and the specials are worth a try.
Amazing food, nice friendly staff, not the poshest date night type place but really enjoyed it, thanks!
Always visit this restaurant when in Nottingham. Excellent food. Friendly family run place.
As per usual great food service and ambience thanks until next time
Absolutely loved my evening at Cumin. Amazing food unlike any other curry place I've ever been, can't wait to go back and explore more of the menu! It is limited but this makes it taste amazing as you know is very fresh. Would recommend for a date night or family dinner
Our table for 2 was a little cramped and very close to other guests either side. Poppadom pickles were very mild and the portions of starter (onion bhaji) and main course (rice and curry) were on the small side, however everything was very tasty and the service excellent - will probably try again.
Found this restaurant on Trip advisor and we were not disappointed. We reserved a table online and the table was ready prepared when we arrived even though they were very busy. Staff are very friendly and attentive and will talk through the menu with you. We went as a party of four and all thoroughly enjoyed our food. Service extremely efficient and the food served was fresh and hot. Would definitely recommend.
Service excellent, could not have been more helpful. Great tasty food and excellent value.
Absolutely amazing food, best indian we have ever had. Service superb, definitely will be returning, thank you for a lovely evening
Excellent food. Great service. There's a lot of places in nottingham to get a decent curry but I would say the one I had from the Cumin was the best.
Very welcoming atmosphere and attentive staff. Managed a large group well!
A friend and I were the first to arrive in the evening and were greeted and initially well looked after. I have been here before and the food was up to its usual very high standard. Two large groups of people arrived while we were eating our main course and then for us the standard of service dipped substantially. After finishing the main course we would have liked to have ordered dessert and coffee but were ignored by the staff so we paid the bill and left.
Not the biggest of portions for big lads and curry connoisseurs, brilliant staff. Thanks again Sonny
3rd time back at the cumin, would definitely recommend it. The service is the thing that impresses me the most. Food is very authentic too! Will definitely go back
I have eaten here a few times now and every time it's amazing. The staff are really friendly and the food is really nice. I would recommend to anyone.
Enjoyed the meal very much, in particular the Hyderabad Biryani which is something special.
Most enjoyable food. Discrete service. Would dine there again !
Very good and friendly service. Good quality food.
The restaurant was very busy but the service didn't suffer as the waiter kept us informed throughout, food quality was fantastic
Very tasty main course. Chicken was perfectly cooked and full of flavour. Good garlic naan bread too. Would welcome a greater selection of chutneys and pickles to accompany the popadoms. Would eat here again for sure
Read excellent reviews about this restaurant on Trip Advisor and so, as my husband and I fancied a night out in a quiet restaurant I booked. We had a wonderful evening! The staff are so welcoming and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The food was incredible! I was not expecting it to be on a par with places such as Laguna or Calcutta Club but it easily matched, and maybe excelled them?! The lamb chops for our starter were mouth-watering. We really enjoyed our main courses too, I had prawn goan curry - the thing that really struck me was the lightness and flavour of the lime rice - how do they do that?? As a Prosecco lover I was pleased that the single bottles were of a good standard - usually they don't have a good flavour - but this choice was really good.
My only (very small) observation would be to change the chairs to make the place a feel a little more sumptuous. But, hey, if eating lovely food and having a happy evening I suppose more comfortable chairs aren't top of the list!
We will definitely be going back soon. Just hope the word doesn't spread to quick so we can get a table!!
Thank you to the Cumin staff and chefs for a top notch evening :)
Food was outstanding the wait was a little long but that's expected as it was very fresh
