What Insiders Are Saying
The Delaunay is the restaurant you want to be in when you just want to feel good. Sit in the amazing dining room or hit the cafe for a quick one.
The food quality has gone down. This is my usual safe option to meet business contacts and friends. But the food was just ok, did they change chefs? My grilled chicken was super oily. Thank goodness service was still ok.
Excellent service and delicious food.
Good choice on the menu, and wines.
Would be happy to visit again.
Came across this restaurant by chance. Very pleasant experience. We were celebrating our anniversary and were given complimentary chocolates. Nice gesture.
Delaunay is great just like his siblings Wolseley and Fischer’s.
Warm and friendly front-of-house, lovely ambience and even better food that never disappoints.
They make one of the best kedgeree with a just perfect oozy poached egg.
Their sorbet is really pretty with two leaves of pistachio biscuits and dehydrated pineapple!
Wonderful service, yummy food and delicious wine. An evening well spent.
Our family of four had a wonderful evening before seeing Tina at the Aldwych Theatre. The restaurant's location is perfect. Most of all the service was impeccable and the food was delicious. The ambiance was unique to what other places we visited during our week in London. I give this 5 stars!
Very attentive staff and lovely food. Good value for the quality
Super food, taken care of well and a great time to celebrate an anniversary brunch
Always a pleasure, that why I regularly return. A small but perfect menu. It excels in its consistency food and staff.
A large room but one that has a good atmosphere, just the right amount of noise and bustle. Service is attentive but the food takes a while to emerge. Worth the wait, though
Excellent meal . Excellent discreet high quality service. Good buzzy atmosphere. Recommended
Extremely good Sunday Roast with all the traditional trimmings. We loved it.
Lovely ambience and vibe in the restaurant. Nice to show my wife one of my regular spots
Great meal and wonderful ambience.
It’s a special restaurant for a special treat! First class good old fashioned service
In spite of mucking up our order the food, it was only ok when it arrived. It’s a nice venue and the service was friendly but not very efficient! Hence the 50% rating
It is a shame that a restaurant with such a German/ Austrian menu does not have a beer menu to match. That said: a great meal in a lovely location.
Well what a place! Loved it. Fine dining indeed, fabulous decor and style.
Great wine list
Having been to the Wolsey I can see the similarity
Food was fantastic
Will be back for sure
Would probably opt for private dining as rather noisy when busy
Too marks all round
A superb restaurant! Extraordinary menu and wine list of best of well-known European cuisines (strudels, dobos torte, Riesling, Tokaji etc.). Timely services, attentive and friendly staff and chefs. Pre-show perfect. Perhaps a little booster than we would’ve liked, but not disturbing (it was a full house). Will visit each time when in London, for sure!
Very nice venue and food .
Just a little eager to clear finished items from table
Fabulous as always. Impeccable service, great food and exquisite surroundings.
Wonderful food. Service was ok. Good experience all around.
Delaunay much enjoyed, and as with other visits, a great place to bring friends for a meal. Its always busy, atmospheric, and an impressive setting for any occasion. The menu is one of those 'has something for everyone' but those somethings are all interesting, slightly different, worth trying. Wine list errs on the expensive but our viognier (a cheaper choice) slipped down our throats and has us pulling out the bottle to see the details. Waiters are helpful, attentive and the evening a delight.
Service was a bit rushed (I hate the constant topping up of wine glasses after you’ve taken one sip) but the food and ambience was reliably good. Always good for celebrity sightings (not Dua Lipa-type celebrities but novelists, MPs and business leaders). It has the lighting just right: dark enough to create an atmosphere but bright enough to be able to read the menu without the light on your iPhone.
I love this place and have visited many many times for one of the best brunches in London.
Today however I noticed a £2 per head “brunch cover charge” on top of the 12.5% service charge. I’ve never noticed this before, so don’t know if it is a new concept but seems strange as surely it is the same as a service charge? It’s not like we were eating off the menu so diners beware of this hidden charge.
It's always a treat to return to The Delaunay. Schnitzels + champagne = a perfectly hedonistic lunch. The lighting, ambiance, service and food here all add up to a wonderful pampering package.
We like a bit of Austrian flavour, so the Delaunay was a must-visit after Fischers. And it's better than the Marylebone eaterie on almost every score. Excellent and generous steak tartare starters, traditionally large schnitzel and a really very nice spatchcock chicken were highlights. The menu isn't tricksy or complex - but I much prefer places that settle on a relatively limited selection of standards and execute well, rather than try a menu that's too big or too flashy to deliver reliably. I didn't choose particularly well on the wine - a Gruner Veltliner that was a little on the tart side and an Austrian Pinot Noire that was a pretty underwhelming for the price - but that might be more my inexpert use of the wine menu than over-pricing by the restaurant. We'd definitely go back - but choose more wisely on the booze!
Good value for afternoon tea in central, the tea was great but the cakes were average.
Service was okay.
Dine at The Delauney regularly and always enjoy it. Very reliable with great service and decent food of Brasserie versus fine dining quality. It represents told value for money and is always a nice evening out.
Great place for business breakfast, staff are friendly and the food is very good.
Delightful as always but the service was WAY OFF and nots its usual 5-star experience
Fantastic service, great food but best of all there was no pressure on us to move despite the fact that they were really busy. We left after 3 hours having enjoyed our visit very much.
A magnificent Art Deco style Viennese grand cafe with fantastic food (I had the Wiener Schnitzel) and polished yet friendly service. Excellent Sommelier too. Would go again tomorrow.
Excellent breakfast the eggs Benedict amongst the best I’ve had
Fantastic London breakfast spot
Great food service and no pressure to vacate the table.
Very enjoyable and the service was superb
The perfect restaurant to go to after the
We booked very last minute and still managed to get a table. Very good food and atmosphere. Great service too!
Great place, very classy and friendly service...
Definitely recommend this venue
