What Insiders Are Saying
The Delaunay is the restaurant you want to be in when you just want to feel good. Sit in the amazing dining room or hit the cafe for a quick one.
A very nice brunch experience with friends on the day of arrival in London! Highly recommended!
Fabulous ambiance. Great food, and staff. Special
Excellent food and service 👍🏻👍🏻
Perfection Great room. Great ambience.
Mi experiencia con el afternoon tea fué altamente positiva. Calidad ( scones deliciosos) cantidad, servicio y relación calidad/precio. Volveré sin duda
Great food. Excellent service. Very good ambiance.
As always, the Delaunay is now my default choice for lunch with friends and business colleagues. The menu is just what I want - mainstream food with a wide choice and in particular, excellent seafood and favourites such as kedgeree and sea trout. Excellent wine list with some really interesting wines (excellent Riesling).
As usual. a most enjoyable meal in an relaxing environment.
Fairly disappointed by a £2 per person "brunch" charge, next to the general 12.5% service charge. When asking for the reasoning behind this £2 charge, the explanation was rather vague and did not make any sense ("This will allow us to keep the overview within the restaurant for the people who enjoy our brunch and to rectify the price of the menu"). In my opinion, there is no balance between the service charge/tip (£ 4.50 p.p) and the actual cost of the dish ~£10. The waitress deducted the service charge, but it still left a bittersweet feeling behind. Why would you charge 12.5% service over the brunch charge. That is tip on top of tip. Ridiculous!
Absolutely loved it! Perfect from the start. Great service, delicious food and very welcoming. Also not forgetting the smiley door man! We will definitely be back.
Very good pre-thetre meal. Reception welcomed us and we were sat immediately. Professional and consistent service and the food was excellent. It is a large room and a bit loud. Perfect location.
Took my husband for our anniversary. I had been several times before with friends and it’s always my top choice for my birthday. Can’t fault it. My husband was very impressed and that takes some doing. When booking we were asked if it was a special occasion and as a result were treated to a little celebratory after dinner surprise. Only trouble was that the portions are massive. We should have shared a starter as we just couldn’t manage a pudding by the end of it. We shall definitely be back !
Excellent everything for a pre theatre and in my view any other meal. It looks good, it tastes good and it is charming form beginning to end - my favourite of the Corbin and King stable.
Great downtown place for pre or post theater (or whatever). Been twice & l’ll be back again
Great breakfast in London by far. Only 5-star hotels will compare.
The food at the Delaunay is 'Germanic' hearty robust but very tasty and well done. We have eaten here a number of times and like it for its comfort food style and also for the great ambience which is a restaurant with a genteel buzz. Service is good wines are good its great for a brunch or lazy lunch in our opinion, admittedly we haven't tried dinner yet and its smarter than a lot of other brunch venues.
as always fantastic service and food, always a winner
Booked a theatre/dinner deal which was good value - set menu was limited but nice. We both had the salmon tartare to start which was really divine; the chicken schnitzel was MASSIVE (we seriously could have shared one portion) and nice but served with just a green salad and VERY green dressing so a bit dry after a while. Lovely glass of Corbieres though to wash it down. I would love to go back and try more of the menu - it's a gorgeous venue.
Good food in a quite noisy environment. Good for a business lunch
Excellent as ALWAYS and I particularly like the "feel good factor" regarding the ambience.
Very good food. Good service. Everything was very very good.
My safe bet for years, this is the place you go to when you're meeting the parents for the first time or want to impress your date. Actually no excuse is needed to visit The Delaunay, because the food is delicious, the service impeccable, the surroundings gorgeous. It never fails to impress.
As always a superb location for breakfast with excellent service and food
A wonderful place to go and soak up the atmosphere as well as the best afternoon tea ever.
All good as usual, I could strongly recommend
Fabulous ambiance, food lovely and service efficient and friendly. Would recommend it!
I visit the Delaunay fairly regularly - faultless service, superb food. I invited two guests from Italy to enjoy a quintessential afternoon tea.
On arriving I was told my table was not ready (I arrived 5 mins before time) but walk in tables of the same party size were seated.
I was asked to wait at the bar; my guests then arrived who they then sat at the table without telling me, and I had to go to reception and ask where they were as they had messaged me to say they were at the table, and where was I. When I asked the receptionist why this happened she grimaced.
We then ordered two afternoon teas, and one tea. The tea arrived promptly, and at the same time a couple were sat an adjacent table. After 15 mins, the adjacent table had relieved not only their tea but their afternoon tea as well. We still did not have our own afternoon teas. After a further ten minutes we asked the waiter where our tea was, to be told it was being made. They then brought three afternoon teas, not two.
When we repeated that we only wanted one two afternoon teas, and asked them to take one of them away (my female guest didn’t want to eat, which is why we had ordered two in the first place) we were told “we will gift you a cup of tea”.
This missed the point: I didn’t want anything gifted, I wanted faultless service - and this was a car crash at a venue that I had specially selected for my visitors, and had said at some length in advance how special it was.
I left feeling very upset indeed. Anyone can make a mistake, two at an utter push, but this was like faulty towers from start to finish.
I now question whether I will return again, which is a shame as this was previously a favourite
Delaunay always at the top, food and service-wise! Great place for a business lunch, afternoon tea with your mother or a romantic date night. Love the Delaunay artistic theme
We visited Delaunay ‘s for Mothers day last Sunday. We were met with pleasant smiles and curteous attention. There were lots of people there, creating an exciting buzz but it was not so noisy that our own conversations were disrupted. We were given advice on the menu and cocktails not listed on the menus were made available when asked for. My son and husband enjoyed the peppered steak which they praised continuously on the journey home. Most unusual for my husband to have such high praise for restaurant food. We had such a pleasant evening.
Sadly we were far too full to sample anything from the desert menu, but I now have an excuse to return. And return I shal...
Thank you for a perfectly enjoyable Mothers day
We very much enjoyed our first visit, to this venue with its stylish decor, very professional service and generally well dressed clientel.
We enjoyed the fish, and the range of choice from the vegiterian menu. A well mixed dry martini to wash down some meaty oysters, made the evening a real treat
As always the food and service was excellent. Lovely evening and look forward to coming back soon!
We had a lovely lunch, excellent service and very good food, let down by the noise level, which was quite high but the staff very considerately gave us a table by the window which had a somewhat reduced noise problem. Wouldn't stop us from a return visit!
Terrific food in a lovely setting. The staff are great too, very welcoming and very good service.
Supreme breakfast fit for a king excellent from front of house to food served
Went here to celebrate a birthday. Everything was great! Attentive service, great food and nice atmosphere. Highly recommended !
Excellent food, relaxed atmosphere
The restaurant location, ambience, decor and layout is very good. The front of house service is also good, however the table service was disinterested at best and hard to get attention of waiters most times. None of the questions around if any help was needed with the menu, how the food was, any eye contact during service or any attention to see if we wanted to order food or drink. Given the clients to waiters ratio seemed okay for a Fri night, was disappointed with this.
Food wise, starters were good and main course was okay. I may continue going for coffee catch ups and breakfast meetings but unlikely to frequent for dinner in future.
