What Insiders Are Saying
The Delaunay is the restaurant you want to be in when you just want to feel good. Sit in the amazing dining room or hit the cafe for a quick one.
Delaunay much enjoyed, and as with other visits, a great place to bring friends for a meal. Its always busy, atmospheric, and an impressive setting for any occasion. The menu is one of those 'has something for everyone' but those somethings are all interesting, slightly different, worth trying. Wine list errs on the expensive but our viognier (a cheaper choice) slipped down our throats and has us pulling out the bottle to see the details. Waiters are helpful, attentive and the evening a delight.
Service was a bit rushed (I hate the constant topping up of wine glasses after you’ve taken one sip) but the food and ambience was reliably good. Always good for celebrity sightings (not Dua Lipa-type celebrities but novelists, MPs and business leaders). It has the lighting just right: dark enough to create an atmosphere but bright enough to be able to read the menu without the light on your iPhone.
I love this place and have visited many many times for one of the best brunches in London.
Today however I noticed a £2 per head “brunch cover charge” on top of the 12.5% service charge. I’ve never noticed this before, so don’t know if it is a new concept but seems strange as surely it is the same as a service charge? It’s not like we were eating off the menu so diners beware of this hidden charge.
It's always a treat to return to The Delaunay. Schnitzels + champagne = a perfectly hedonistic lunch. The lighting, ambiance, service and food here all add up to a wonderful pampering package.
We like a bit of Austrian flavour, so the Delaunay was a must-visit after Fischers. And it's better than the Marylebone eaterie on almost every score. Excellent and generous steak tartare starters, traditionally large schnitzel and a really very nice spatchcock chicken were highlights. The menu isn't tricksy or complex - but I much prefer places that settle on a relatively limited selection of standards and execute well, rather than try a menu that's too big or too flashy to deliver reliably. I didn't choose particularly well on the wine - a Gruner Veltliner that was a little on the tart side and an Austrian Pinot Noire that was a pretty underwhelming for the price - but that might be more my inexpert use of the wine menu than over-pricing by the restaurant. We'd definitely go back - but choose more wisely on the booze!
Good value for afternoon tea in central, the tea was great but the cakes were average.
Service was okay.
Dine at The Delauney regularly and always enjoy it. Very reliable with great service and decent food of Brasserie versus fine dining quality. It represents told value for money and is always a nice evening out.
Great place for business breakfast, staff are friendly and the food is very good.
Delightful as always but the service was WAY OFF and nots its usual 5-star experience
Fantastic service, great food but best of all there was no pressure on us to move despite the fact that they were really busy. We left after 3 hours having enjoyed our visit very much.
A magnificent Art Deco style Viennese grand cafe with fantastic food (I had the Wiener Schnitzel) and polished yet friendly service. Excellent Sommelier too. Would go again tomorrow.
Excellent breakfast the eggs Benedict amongst the best I’ve had
Fantastic London breakfast spot
Great food service and no pressure to vacate the table.
Very enjoyable and the service was superb
The perfect restaurant to go to after the
We booked very last minute and still managed to get a table. Very good food and atmosphere. Great service too!
Great place, very classy and friendly service...
Definitely recommend this venue
Food was up to it’s normal high standards but the service was very disappointing
Outstanding as always! There is not thing I could fault.
Beautiful surroundings in a more informal environment than its sister The Wolesely. Service was pleasant and a tiny bit more attention to detail would be great. The fries were cold and they served me the wrong tea. Otherwise, the desserts were scrumptious and it was a good place for a catch-up with the girls.
Cant fault it! Service and Food were perfect:-)
Absolutely superb food. Service could have been a little more timely but overall an excellent experience.
Very enjoyable pre dinner before theatre
Great pre theatre dinner with familly. Consistently good
Appetizer was excellent (pumpkin and goat cheese pierogi)
Beef goulash was not as good as we hoped for, but entrees were still good
Dessert was great
Overall very pleased with the experience!
We did the afternoon tea here at the Delaunay. It was a terrific experience. The service was amazing. The create a very relaxing environment where we were able to enjoy our time together with a delicious spread of afternoon delights.
Lovely afternoon tea which was really good value. The room was lovely and the service excellent.
Amazing. I’ve been trying to get here for a while and it didn’t disappoint.
There was a good selection on the menu for all tastes and the quality was lovely. We all left empty plates.
The ambience was relaxed and informal.
I can’t wait to go again
I love this place, it ticks so many boxes. Interestingly the spatchcock chicken here is far better than the one in Fischers (cousin)
The Tarte Flambe is simply essential as a taster to share
Delicious “beef straganouf”🙈
A lovely meal - good food, good service, good location.
Everything you could want for a dinner out. There is a reason or rather very many reasons why The Delaunay is one of our favourite restaurants and why we go back again and again. Quality food cooked very well and served with old fashioned manners, style and class.
Friendly and professional service, lively atmosphere and well judged food. Always delivers a stylish taste of middle European civility.
I must say it was my first tine at The Delaunay, although the restaurant was very busy, the afternoon tea was amazing!, service was amazing! The price was very reasonable! It was so good that I will surely come back again soon.
Thank you so much for a lovely experience!
Kept waiting for a booked table. No where to sit so just left standing by the welcome desk. Seemed to be chaotic. All this for £350 for four people is not acceptable.
Lovely Austrian fare served in a very buzzy dining room. Everything we ate was delicious, though we felt the starters were a little overpriced. Lunch for 2 with wine was £180 so it’s not cheap! (No puddings were eaten)
Splendid dinner once again at Delaunay for a party of four. Despite being very busy service was exemplary as usual and the food and drink excellent. Everyone enjoyed themselves immensely. Highly recommended.
One of my favourite places in London. It's cosy, civilised and the service is outstanding. It's how I imagine 1920s Vienna to have been... a retreat from the hurly-burly of the 21st century where one can genuinely relax.
Good atmosphere and retro decor. Had to wait 15 mins for our table and the food was good but not memorable, would suit a casual laid back meal for friends.
