Very impressed, had a lovely afternoon tea. The food was excellent and we were offered more sandwiches which was nice! Got to try 2 different pots of tea and they were both equally good. It was expensive but I’d say it was well worth the money! A great way to spend a couple of hours in the very well kept and well presented gardens.
The perfect lunch venue. Everything was perfect, especially the food. We had a beautiful autumn day so were able to sit in the garden.
Visited yesterday for a afternoon tea with a friend - the service was very poor.
I’ve been to the crescent numerous occasions for afternoon tea over the years and it’s really gone downhill, especially the attention to detail.
When we arrived, someone spotted us and said they would see to us in a second.. left us standing there for a long time waiting to be seated and presumed we would sit outside, albeit 10 minutes later the heavens opened and everyone came inside soaking. We requested to sit inside so a table was laid for us. We spent ten minutes trying to get the attention of a waiter or waitress to request more tea.
When we got the tea, 15/20 minutes later, we were not given new mugs and had cold tea sat in the old mug so had to track someone down again for a clear mug.
We were served water from a half filled and dirty jug when we arrived.. when the waiter poured it he was clearly in a rush and on both occasions, spilt the water over the table and on our plates.
No one talked us through the cake selection either which would have been a nice touch, as staff used to do.
Wasn’t a very personal experience and service really slacked which is a real shame.
Afternoon tea is one of the best I have ever had. Very good value for money. The whole experience is heaven and in a beautiful setting. Can’t wait to go again. Well done to The Royal Crescent.
Had a lovely afternoon tea in the gardens. The service was excellent, we had a lovely guy who’d only been with them seven weeks. He was so attentive and knowledgeable a real credit to them. The food was good and we had a great time. I would definitely recommend and hope to come back in due course and stay next time.
The setting is lovely, especially if the day is warm and you can sit outside and enjoy the beautiful garden.
The food is really good and very well presented and the service was excellent.
It was a Monday and very quiet, not many diners, so it didn't create a bustling ambience.
Dinner at the Dower House Restaurant is worth every penny not only for the exquisite food but also for the experience of the building and the service. Only small gripe would be the placing of the tables. My partner was placed next to me facing a stark wall and the couple behind us were place so that they were faced right towards me looking at me, making it somewhat uncomfortable. We also couldn’t move round the table as it was against the wall. Seemed odd.
Enjoyed every minute at the hotel from entering to leaving. Alas the weather was not good enough for us to sit in the gardens.
Exceptional professionalism and service. Delicious afternoon tea.
As usual, atmosphere, food, service, superb .
Dining at The Dower House was everything you might imagine. The ambience - including the garden and surrounding architecture is stunningly beautiful. The food was outstanding and the service was impeccable. All in all, an extremely memorable experience.
We visited to celebrate some special birthday’s From the minute we walked through the door until we left, the staff were attentive and approachable. The atmosphere was peaceful in the beautiful gardens. We were lucky to have one of the best summer days. The food was delicious too, all in all everything was perfect and I look forward to returning.
Fantastic afternoon tea, ( it did help the weather was lovely for sitting out in the beautiful gardens), the service was fantastic, nothing was too much bother, and the the food was divine.
Great food and absolutely charming staff. Thanks
The best afternoon tea we have ever had.
Lovely food and a good choice with starter or main options . You could even have a toasted cheese sandwich !!!!
One slight disappointment was the wine waiter topped up individual glasses without sharing the wine equally . One guest had an empty glass on two occasions . I think they just wanted us to order more wine !!
Very friendly staff, will recommend
Beautiful setting, attentive staff, Gluten free afternoon tea was amazing.
We had our afternoon tea in the gorgeous garden. The food and service was excellent.
We come here every year to celebrate my mums Birthday and it is outstanding every time. The food, the gardens the vibe. We love it so much. The staff are so kind and helpful. A special place. Thank you
We had afternoon tea which was delicious! I was provided with a lactose free version which was just as good as the real thing, absolutely delicious. The staff could not do enough for us, the atmosphere and restaurant were really lovely. Would definitely recommend. We did however feel the price a bit steep at £37.50 per head, however as we had a gift voucher we didn’t pay a penny!
Had afternoon tea in the garden. Lovely setting. Food great, service great.
Really nice would definitely recommend afternoon tea.
Lovely garden setting behind the iconic crescent of Georgian houses. Afternoon tea was pretty good. Sandwiches, tea and scones were excellent but cakes looked better than they tasted.
We spent the day in Royal Bath, it's a beautiful city. I wanted to treat my daughter to afternoon tea. The Royal Crescent Hotel being my first choice. It's a lovely setting and a little bit of indulgence made the experience memorable. Thank you.
My third time having tea there and it’s been amazing every time. The food is excellent quality and the sandwiches and cakes are crowd pleasers not odd modern ones and they are all delicious!
Clotted cream and jam is also amazing quality and the scones are served warm which is the best thing!
Enjoyed afternoon tea in garden area, lovely venue, good tea, sandwiches and cakes☺
Once our tea was brought we were left to it: no further service. Had to get up and find someone to order more tea. Unhelpful with my friend who doesn’t like nuts.
I arrived at the royal crescent on Wednesday with my mum for a special occasion, we were greeted by the staff and then on our table. We then ordered after a couple of minutes with a gentleman who wasn’t the friendliest. The drinks and food arrived - they were average for the price, the sandwiches were so small and the glass of champagne was just over a mouthful for the extra price of £15.
We then were completely left to our own devices, no check back on the food, no offer of another drink.
We then asked for the bill, however, we hadn’t managed to finish the food so we were going to take it with us. The gentleman who took our order brought over two unmade boxes for us to put together and pack ourselves.
To my shock we were still met with a 12.5% service charge which I didn’t realise had been added until I had paid.
We barely received any service at all.
Won’t be looking to return if that is the normal standard at the Royal crescent.
Fantastic afternoon tea in the beautiful garden with excellent servic.
From the moment you enter the Royal Crescent Hotel, you are treated to an indulgent experience of the highest standard. Beautiful setting, impeccable service and the most delicious afternoon tea.
My wife and myself enjoyed afternoon tea at the Royal Cresent Hotel a few years ago. We decided on a replay for last Sunday to include a few friends and yet again, the experience was spot on.
Food was excellent, as was ambiance - but the service was a massive let down. We ordered the 5 course tasting menu - however the service staff made us feel extremely rushed, which ruined the enjoyment of the meal. They brought us the first dish before we’d even finished our pre-dinner drinks, and before the wine arrived! As soon as we were finished, plates were grabbed and new dishes arrived - no time to digest or chat!
The worst happened on the 3rd course, when my partners plate was taken away while I was still eating! They don’t do this in TGI Fridays, so the fact it happened in a fine dining restaurant is really disappointing.
The staff were friendly and the food was excellent, but making us feel so rushed really ruined the experience.
Beautiful gardens to relax, unwind and enjoy the delicious afternoon tea at the Royal Crescent.
Sandwiches were ok nothing special, cakes and scones were excellent. Experience let down by poor service. Ordered coffee and after 15 mins had to order again. Also was given the bill but waited almost half an hour and had to ask twice for someone to come and let us pay.
Beautiful place , food was excellent and plentiful although I think more savoury options should be included. It is on the pricier end for an afternoon tea but was lovely. Champagne very expensive . Staff exceptional and couldn’t be faulted
The staff were amazing , food fantastic and the ambience wonderful
Fantastic place for a superior lunchtime dinning experience. Great service not too fussy, but just enough.
Impeccable as always. Quite simply my favourite hotel in the UK.
Slighly more attentive service and would it like to be offered more food
