The Drapers Arms
Very much a pub we are as welcoming to one person sitting with a beer and a paper as to a group having a special meal. In an informal and relaxing atmosphere we nonetheless take our food, drink and service seriously. Well chosen and carefully tended ales (Harveys Sussex and two on rotation) and wines (18 available by the glass) add to a range of authentic lagers, spirits and soft drinks.
Our food is all freshly prepared and our menu changes every day and across the seasons. With a focus on being enjoyable, honest and seasonal we are also affordable - we were very pleased in our first year to receive a 'Bib Gourmand' by Michelin for 'Good food at affordable prices'.
Our upstairs dining room can accommodate weddings, christenings and parties and is among the finest private hire options in London.

What Insiders Are Saying
The Drapers Arms is an isolated pub in Islington with a bar downstairs, a dining room upstairs, and a garden you should take advantage of.
Cold steaks x 2 that were just reheated and no offer of free dessert or even a bowl of chips to compensate.
It’s not cheap but they might have been having a bad or busy night
Good food and comfy atmosphere as always!
Brilliant meal, as always. And particularly great to have all the takings from our V Day dinner go to a charity for victims of domestic violence.
Wonderful setting for sunday roast: perfect relaxed ambiance; attentive service and delicious food. Would recommend highly.
We go to our local, The Drapers Arms, quite regularly but on arrival always wonder why. The welcome is always spiky and difficult. The waitresses (more than the waiters) are usually rude. A lot of the roasts are always sold out by tea time. However, once we get past ordering and actually get our food, we are always happy with the standard of the food and drinks. It would be nice to feel more welcome.
The Drapers Arms is one of my favourite places to have a Sunday roast - their sharing platters are amazing to spend a lazy Sunday eating. Great local pub (+ great selection of wine as well).
Food took nearly an hour to arrive, my partners food was then cold. So waited 15 minutes only for it to arrive over cooked and inedible.
It was removed from the bill but as we had waited an hour to receive our meal he didn’t have enough time to re-order.
I doubt we will be going back
Poor food not cooked to our requirements
Long wait for food
Waitress very apologetic
Loved our meal out here. It was very friendly and welcoming on a very cold night. Excellent food but not stuffy at all. Wine very good too. Service was great and ambience perfect for upmarket pub.
Incredible vibe - one of my favourite pubs in London. Ideal for a catch up with friends, a laid back date and good to take your parents too as well! The pub boasts a seriously impressive wine list and beers and ales on draft. In terms of the food - head down on a Sunday and grab one of the sharing roasts for 2/3 people. They seriously nail their sea food options as well. Great Front of House as well - attentive, vibey and you can tell that the staff enjoy working there which is a seriously good sign. Totally recommend.
roast was a little fatty, but the room is great and the ambience very nice for a Sunday.
Food was sublime if a little bit on the pricey side. Atmosphere was energetic although it was Saturday night and there were three separate party groups booked in. Overall, a lovely experience.
Great evening, lovely food - three of us shared the steak and it was great. Fantastic wine selection.
A thoroughly enjoyable long boozy lunch with outstanding food.
Our favourite roast in London!
Being a Sunday in a chilly January we all chose their sharing roasts, which were described as suiting 2 to 3 people. All 9 of us enjoyed it. There was plenty of meat, a good size home made yorkshire pudding each, well prepared selection of vegetables and yummy roast potatoes, but not many of those so we asked for more and another portion was promptly provided. A bit slow with condiments but worth the wait - great quality horseradish and the English mustard. (Our waitress was a delight, efficient and working hard, but we were peak time and I think they were a bit stretched).
Tables were a bit small to accommodate the large, china platters that the roasts were served on, but we managed. Desserts were similarly tasty and felt home made, and well presented. Good wine list but not cheap. Jugs of water on the table and readily topped up.
With half a bottle of wine each and coffees cost was about £46 per head. We ate upstairs, which was described as quieter than the ground floor but, with a tiled floor and happy, chatty tables of diners don't expect a monastery.
Service excellent and food very good.
We were upstairs and very noisy stag night spoiled the atmosphere.
Our meal took 1hr 20mins to arrive and we had to chase. The meal delay was the biggest let down and a shame really, we had two pregnant ladies in our group which made things tricky. The food quality was great and the waiter did try his best to hurry things along for us. I would visit the pub again but not for food unfortunately.
Excellent food- we were a party of 10 & everybody’s food was delicious. We’ll definitely be going back!
We had a fantastic time and definitely will be going back. Food, service and ambience were all brilliant.
Service was slow but it was ok since it felt homey and welcoming. Terrible bathrooms. Everything else is about an 8 or a 10 but the bathrooms drop the ranking severely
Excellent rib of beef
Great food in a relaxed atmosphere. Ideal for a pre-match meal with family.
Delicious roast, as usual. Service slow, as usual, lovely staff run off their feet.
Very disappointed. Slow service. No childrens menu but after a discussion with the waitress they did accommodate us. Menu not great. No vegetarian roast option.
There was a massive group of lads having a Christmas Party so we couldn't hear ourselves think! Didn't think Drapers Arms were that type of pub to let those large groups in.
Good quality food that is reasonably priced
Food was for the most part too salty and / or too greasy. Ordered turkey pie, duck cassoulet and cheese spring rolls. Burger was apparently good though!
Service and atmosphere great though. Great pub for drinking, perhaps not so much eating.
Amazing experience . Good recommendations and lovely food.
I was disappointed with the table location right beside the draughty entrance and the service was patchy and slow.
Everything is really nice . But the food on Tuesday last week was way too salted .
Great lunch served by helpful and pleasant staff. Thank you
Great meal as always friendly service and tasty food!
Great Food. Excellent service.. would definitely comeback for more..
Very busy and chaotic when we arrived. When we eventually got seated to our booked table the food was amazing, the best roast in London!
We had looked forward to our Sunday lunch, booking sometime ago based on the high recommendation and best pork crackling in town - a fitting pre-Christmas get together. But the crackling was soft and roast potatoes had that reheated taste... service was slow and yes it was busy but no excuse - it was disappointing and mediocre
Booked well in advance and sat at a table downstairs with huge groups either side and it was just too noisy. A table for 2 suggests it's not a party get together and should have been seated in a your quieter area - upstairs I think. Then 4 I think they were Polish people came in and the lady in full view started to breast feed her child who was not a baby. There was no covering of breast and no care if she offended others as it was not discreet. None of your staff told her to cover up. I am a woman myself but find this overt behaviour distasteful. Mankind has been going for 1000s of years and women have miraculously managed to raise kids and feed them without this public display. It was just too rowdy and laddish but I think you need to consider placement if it is a table for 2. The food was nice and suggests a nicer place. But there is so much competition in Islington for good food in gastro pubs that I'd rather go to Pig&Butcher, [bar side], that has a lively atmosphere but is classier somehow.
Great for a big group over Christmas. Some mains came out cold and had to be sent back. Toilets were filthy and not cleaned for the duration of our meal (3hrs)
Very good, amazing food! Will go again
