Thank you for the amazing service. Tasty food. Fab cocktails and overall excellent experience. See you soon
Really good food, the bar was very loud and noisy and dark, but glad to have booked a table and be seated in the restaurant away where it was a quieter. Good happy hour on cocktails and would recommend for dim sum and cocktails on happy hour!
As always the food at Drunken Monkey was really good. Fortunately sat on a table at the back, which is quieter than sitting in the front. Great Happy Hour cocktails too!! A must if you love dimsum and cocktails!
We half considered cancelling the reservation for the devastating reviews on Google Maps. It was actually quite nice though. Service was all right and the food was good. The music is way too loud though. Next to impossible to have a conversation on one of the larger tables.
Terrible to see what has happened to my once favourite restaurant. Visited on a Saturday at 8.30pm.
Far too hot, far too loud, slow service, majority of draught beer was sold out, several dishes unavailable, tables were enormous so chatting over the loud music was impossible.
Brought my girlfriend for dinner and left incredibly disappointed/embarrassed.
Really yummy food, would definitely go back! I had the drunken noodles and have been fancying them ever since! Please open one in south east London! Our waitress was really lovely and made our experience even better!
Stuck in a small side room where staff kept forgetting us.
Service charge automatically added to bill even though I complained 3 times about the service.
Food is not good, place looks dirty.
Unfortunately i did not have the greatest experience here, compared to many restaurants that exceed great customer service. First of all the waitress did not seem aware of the menu or familiar with which food was suitable for someone with milk intolerance. Apparently the only vegetarian options available without milk would be the vegetable section only. As an oriental customer at a chinese restaurant, i tend to be familiar with what has milk in and what hasnt (i always double check just incase) and unfortunately she had to get the manager after i questioned her on her knowledge. Not to my surprise i was correct with ordering noodles with vegetables and lettuce veggie wraps. Food was quite bland which is surprising as asian cuisine normally has great flavour and seasoning.
Our waitress didnt seem too keen to return to our table, so i had to make my way upstairs to order drinks from the manager.. who shockingly replied 'there are stairs for you to come order here if you want' when i told him i wanted to order a drink from a waitress ignoring my attention.
Overall I didnt feel valued, and made to feel like i was aburden due to my food specialities, nor did i feel secure from my waitress and her knowledge. I shall not be recommending as i know plenty of other asian cuisines that will happily cater to my needs
I went to Drunken Monkey with a group of ladies for a catch up. The initial waitress who was dealing with us was very helpful and directed us to the set menu which is good value for money. However, another waitress (who we later found out was the manager) came along with the bottle of proscesco that we had ordered and proceeded to pop the bottle in front of us. We kindly asked her to pop the bottle away from the table and her response was extremely abrupt. Instead of popping the bottle, she decided to walk away and direct another member of staff to us.
The food came out in one big rush and was crammed onto the table which was extremely tight for 6 people. When we asked for cutlery, it took another 10 minutes to arrive after several requests for them.
Overall, the food was to an okay standard but the service was shocking to say the least!
The staff were constantly rushing around grabbing plates as soon as they were emptying and had multiple staff members coming to check if we have finished our meal as if there were running out of plates and didnt give off a friendly vibe to diners
Really enjoyed our lunch and delicious cocktail. We'd definitely recommended it!
Amazing restaurant, friendly staff, great ambience, great food, lots to choose from whether it's a taster or a big meal. Good price for food usual 10% service charge added. I can't wait to go back again!
Loved this place, pleasantly surprised. I will go again
Awful service and poor food. Went here for dinner for our Anniversary hoping it would be a lovely evening but it turned out to be a bit of a shamble. It took us over 15 minutes to get served and there didn't seem enough staff to look after all the tables. When we did finally get to order the food was below average. The spring rolls were like the ones you buy frozen in a supermarket and the rest of the food was rather bland. I would not reccomend this to anyone looking to have a nice evening with decent food and service. Expect long delays and average food.
Been here several times and food is good, this time the service wasn't the best and we were left at the bar to wait for our food table but was forgotten. A few dishes weren't avalible (vegetarian) which made it limited to pick from. Would recommend from previous times I have been.
Service isn’t great but food is out of this world
Card machine not working and not told until after seated and ordering drinks so people had to leave to find a cash machine that does charge £2.00 to get own cash out. Other than that food was spot on.
Friend was told we didn't have a reservation even though we had open table confirmation- fair enough, mistakes happen so let it go. Stood by the bar for over 5 minutes whilst the many bar staff ignored us- despite the bar being nearly empty. I ended up walking out and nobody even batted an eyelid. Won't be going back again.
I have been to the Drunken Monkey a number of times with my friends, so this is a regular place for me and a firm favourite. The Dim Sum menu is very well put together and the quality is lovely.
Because we normally go around early lunchtime, we generally are one of the only tables of people there, so it is hard to gauge ambiance, although the service is always fast, efficient and not to mention friendly. The people working there are a real credit to the establishment. Many thanks and I look forward to visiting you all again!
It was a nice dinner...and very friendly!
I would definitely recommend it.
This is my boyfriend's favourite restaurant in London so for our date night I thought I'd surprise him with a booking here on Saturday.
We were greeted by the hostess who was all over the place. In fact she pointed at our table and didn't bring menus or ask if we wanted to get a drink.
Waited 5 minutes....had to ask again....still nothing. Asked a few different servers and eventually ordered drinks and food. Our food came before the drinks did.
The food was nice but it wasn't as good as usual. Not sure what happened this weekend but hopefully they were just having a 'bad day' as I'd hate to not go back.
Love love love drunken monkey! Happy hour is always fab and atmosphere great! :) Food is amazing!
Super slow service, waiters forgetting the order, delayed food and drinks, dirty glasses! Awful!!
Very loud neighboor
I do love the Drunken Monkey as their food cannot be faulted. However, the service on this occasion was awful. Bad communication and we had to wait ages to order our drinks and food. They also asked us to leave after 2 hours, which is fine.. but the way they asked was very rude and abrupt!
The waitress was rude and had no idea on the menu. She was giving me the vegetarian food and the meat to my vegan friend. Not a great experience at all!
We visited The Drunken Monkey based on a desire for Dim Sum. First impression was okay, perhaps a bit too noisy, but that was more because of the customers.
We ordered five dim sum dishes from our kind waitress, and the food arrived very quickly (which is a good thing).
However, it turned out that the food was poorly prepared and some elements, such as the prawn dumplings, where straight-out distasteful. Key take-aways from the dinner: The satay sauce were far too salty, the crispy duck were almost cold and obviously not fresh, the beforementioned dumplings where horrible, the almond-cooked broccoli were okay, but far too expensive compared to what you got.
Unfortunately, The Drunken Monkey served us the worst meal we had in our five-day stay in London. I strongly advise against eating at this restaurant.
I love this place, I bring all my out of towners here...its addictive.
Good value, awesome food, friendly staff....what more do u need ?
As a frequent diner at Drunken Monkey, I never thought it possible that a favourite could go downhill so rapidly.
On arrival no one seated us- I stood at the bar waiting for staff for 10+ minutes. The bar staff engaged in conversations with other staff. I seated myself as I had a booking. At this point staff acknowledged the presence of a customer. The cleaning guy did. 10 minutes later, After flagging down a waiter via the cleaner. Our order was taken.
The restaurant was empty.
We were served drinks in dirty glasses covered in lipstick. At this Point i Complained. The manager/waiter didn't return to resolve the issue. We departed and went to Dishoom instead. Better service, atmosphere and great food.
The most terrible service I've ever experienced within any London restaurant. Staff were rude, putting up a hand when calling for assistance, looking at you as though you are an inconvenience. Waited 45 minutes for a cocktail which never arrived, waited 30 minutes for additional sauce which never arrived and had to order water for the table on three separate occasions before it arrived. Not worth it in the slightest. Honestly shocking.
Very slow service with very few other diners
Great food. This was a last minute "I fancy dim sum" and it didn't disappoint. Great service and the food was gorgeous. Great value for money and really good portion sizes. Great for friendly get togethers, not quite date night. Highly recommend!
This was simply the most awful restaurant I have ever dined in. There are several reasons for this, which I list below:
1) The food. We ordered beef fried rice and what appeared on the table looked as if it had been reheated at least three times. It was very dry and overcooked and lacked any flavouring whatsoever. It looked so bad that my friends and I were reluctant to consume more than a few spoonfuls. The other dishes were less bad, but didn't leave much to be desired. The chicken Singaporean noodles was half decent, but certainly not of better quality than a similar dish from any Chinese buffet.
2) The ambience. The table we were seated on was right by the large speakers. The music was turned very loud and we could barely hear each other from across the table, we asked if this could be turned down. One of the waiters kindly obliged, but a few minutes later someone else had turned the volume back up to full. Additionally, there was a table with 15 guests right by us. The amount of noise generated by this group was astonishing, all of the tables around us looked visibly disturbed- and yet the waiters failed to act on this.
3) The service. The bill came back with a much higher sum than expected. On closer inspection we found that several cocktails had been added to our bill (none of which we had ordered) so we had to point this out to the waiter for correction.
Overall a terrible experience, but if you want something very cheap then fair enough. Just make sure you stay away from the rice as it's suspicious whether anything here is freshlycooked, most foods arrived at our table within minutes of ordering. (I should point out that it's easier to pick up gastroenteritis from reheated rice than noodles, therefore if you're going here then stick with noodles.)
Food was good but the service was really bad. We turned up on Friday night after having booked and were shifted between different staff and trailed about the restaurant for them to find our seat. Once our table was finally sourced we waited ages to have our order taken. My brother ordered chicken satay and it didn't turn up. He said to another waitress and her reply was that he should tell our waitress when he saw her... just poor.
Food was very tasty, I ordered the drunken ribs, duck spring rolls and egg fried rice, everything was cooked very nice. The service from the staff was excellent they were very friendly and attentive. Definitely worth the money.
Came here after it was recommended by a friend. Food was really tasty, lots of choice, and reasonably priced. Will definitely be coming back!
Food was okay, starters better than mains. Cool vibe and very good service.
Great evening, great happy hour! Food was good but wasn't very hot, overall a good evening! Was quiet when we came in but there were reserved signs everywhere and a party was being set up. Will be back
