Four of us enjoyed a delightful three-course lunch. The food was full of flavour and beautifully presented. Service was unobtrusively attentive. We sat indoors and felt entirely comfortable with the Covid-19 measures in place.

We sat outside in the glorious sunshine but inside is equally as pretty.
Beautiful food (the lobster was delicious maybe slightly overcooked if I’m being fussy), lovely wine choices (the pink champagne was perfect) and the staff are attentive and quick.
We stumbled upon this place after a long walk in the peaks but we are already planning the 2 hour drive to come back and stay over.

Our first meal out since lockdown and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We had visited last year for the first time and we really impressed with the food, the presentation and the service, making a mental note to return - this experience was just as positive and we will definitely be back. Exquisite food, beautifully presented and very good service. A little bit pricey but you get what you pay for and that is quality of the highest order.

We ate outside on the 3 occasions that we visited. We were impressed with the COVID security measures and it made our first foray into pub life during the current pandemic enjoyable and reassuring.

What the heck has gone wrong with the Duncombe Arms. Asked for water twice never received it, sent food in the shape of a £28 veal chop (lovely)with a potato terrine which was inedible. We have been many times before 3 of us £150 meal did not enjoy it at all. Really disappointed. Only good thing my vegetarian daughter’s potato Gnocchi was delicious.

Our first night out in a year and though we enjoyed ourselves the experience was a little disappointing. After hearing amazing things about the place and only living 5 miles away, we thought we’d give The Duncombe a go. The food was good, however our bread and olives were forgotten. On reflection we think we were actually charged for these as well but didn’t look at the time. Drinks are expensive but I don’t mind paying for a decent glass of wine as I don’t drink much. Seemed a poor selection of ales or those mentioned by the waitress as there wasn’t a drinks menu.

Our waitress was lovely and took the time to chat to us and make us feel welcome.

The toilets although lovely, were not clean. My husband mentioned to staff about the mens cubicle overflowing, this was eventually sorted by the poor bar man (not nice to sort when you’re supposed to be there to serve drinks). The ladies wasn’t great, with no toilet roll in one and then no hand towels at the sink. Given the current situation we expected more on this front.

In terms of atmosphere, it was busy and felt pretty much normal to be out other than spacing between the tables which was great.

I think on reflection they hadn’t got enough staff, which is probably because they need to keep overheads down following the impact of the lockdown closure. Although not a bad experience, it wasn’t great and there are better places to eat in the surrounding area. We may visit again and haven’t written the place off.

Nice pub, nice staff, nice (if expensive) food. A place to go for a leisurely meal as ordering and receiving food is slow. Fine if you aren’t in a hurry and have time to just enjoy a good meal. Check your bill. We had several incorrect items that were taken off.

We've been here many times. It's one of our favourite pubs.Lovely location with beautiful views from the outdoor seating area. Very pleasant quiet atmosphere and good food, a cut or two above the usual pub fare. Service rather slow on this occasion.
