Fabulous food, lovely ambience and very cosy. Very good value for money. We live in London and definitely go back just to eat here. Perfect place for date night and quiet enough to be able to have a chat with your partner. Could not recommend enough. The staff really go all out to ensure you are well looked after and are very attentive to the customer.

The food was superb but unfortunately we had a very long delay getting our main course which took some of the gloss off the experience. Delay aside the service was superb and they really made us and our toddler very welcome. Excellent food though and if we hadn't had our toddler with us the delay wouldn't have been as much of an issue.

We would definitely recommend this lovely gastro pub. Our only slight concern was that we felt a little rushed through our lunch, almost the second we finished anything plates, bottles, even the salt and pepper were whisked away from us, causing us to halt mid conversation. It felt disappointing as everything else was so lovely, great food, beautiful decor and attention to every detail, wonderful menus and a lovely location. Our wish would be, let us take our time and wait for us to indicate that we are not mid conversation before reaching across us to take things away.

A very fine Sunday roast enjoyed by all. Beef cooked as it should be, nice and pink! Beautifully prepared and presented. Super service, I couldn’t fault a thing. Well worth a lengthy drive to get there. We’ll be back.

We enjoyed an excellent meal and the service was very good. The pub was very busy and the seating in the bar area very limited. We will certainly be returning, soon I hope!

It was as good as ever and I took my son who is an expert in fine dining and he gave you 10 out of 10.
They kindly moved us into Joni’s bar where there was very little noise and it was perfect. I find the conservatory a little noisy. I have a mutual interest with Mrs Greenhall in Duncombe Park in Helmsley and Ampleforth should you send her a copy of this please remember me to her. Peter Tams

Good restaurants/pubs with a good atmosphere and ambiance are hard to find, and having passed the Duncombe Arms on numerous occassions decided to give it a try for our anniversary. To say the least, it did not disappoint. It was a nice warm feel with a good back ground of people enjoying themselves. We will certainly be re-visiting.

Our dining experience was very enjoyable, the service was perfect attentive but not intrusive. The staff all appeared to care. The food was very good and sufficient choice to satisfy most tastes. The ambience was just right but quite intimate so we couldn’t avoid the rather noisy birthday party on a nearby table.
We stopped overnight in the attached Walnut House and that was excellent too. Breakfast in the restaurant was one of the best in many I have eaten with very good choices.
Would definitely recommend.

My partner (who's birthday we were celebrating) ordered the rack of lamb. What came were two tiny lamb pieces and a 2 mini carrots and not much else. This was charged at £25. He complained and supplemented with a side order of chips and red cabbage. The waitress waived the charge for the chips (thank you) but in doing so totally failed to address the lack of meat and cost of the main plate. Disappointing and we won't be back.

Lovely food in a pleasant atmosphere. We tend to visit the Duncombe arms for special meals and this time it was a Valentine's day lunch. We had a choice of a the lunchtime 'Market menu' as well as the 'A la carte' selection and we chose items from both. The food was delicious and the service very good although we were kept waiting a while at the end of our meal for our bill. Our table was cosy with ample space and ample cushions to soften one of the pew-style seats. There was an occasional cool draft through an opening from the bar when the front door was opened which meant that we didn't really feel the warmth of the log burner in the room but this wasn't sufficient to warrant moving, however we would probably ask to avoid this place setting on future visits. All in all a lovely meal and enjoyable experience.

Having visited here previously for Sunday Lunch I was looking forward to trying out the main menu in an evening setting; needless to say it didn't disappoint. We were greeted courteously on arrival, shown to the bar whilst our table was confirmed and then taken straight through.

The lighting was perfect allowing for a feeling of intimacy but not too dark to strain the eyes. The menu selections were varied and suitable for most palates and the staff were friendly, knowledgeable and eager to please.

The food when it arrived was extremely well presented and perfectly cooked. Portions were decently sized and the puddings were decidedly moreish.

Overall it was a lovely experience and left us with a desire to return and try the Sunday evening supper menu

We booked the nearest restaurant next to our hotel for a bit of difference ....
On arrival we was welcomed by Raina, then she accommodate us to our lovely table. Brought menu, drinks, bread etc..
Unfortunately we wasn't so hungry and did a small lunch if i can call it so !

She explained to us all the menu as we was interested for dinner !
The main think you'll love is that everything are home made !
However by any reason we hasn't got enough time to do it but we'll be back next time !!!!
Really professional staff and luxury local interior.

Highly recommended !
