Warm red walls, original mixed wooden tables and chairs, proper linen napkins, stylish wine glasses, magazine covers on the walls, history books on bookcases...stone and wood floors..and in winter a real wood burning fire...all combines to make this restaurant elegant and stylish, yet comfortable and informal.
On Bank Holiday Sundays we are open, and closed on Bank Holiday Mondays
We have eaten here before and wanted to entertain some special friends. This was our choice and they loved it. The menu was varied and the food perfectly prepared.
Excellent restaurant, lovely historic room with a strong coastal theme. Food was creatively presented and to a high standard. Excellent value of money considering the high service throughout.
First visit to this establishment
We most definitely will be dining here again
Great food, and impeccable service from Emma as usual.
Lovely Sunday lunch with two imaginative veggie options for each course.
We ate in the bar area which is both more intimate than the main restaurant and quieter. I could not have asked for better service. It was efficient and timely without ever being intrusive. We never felt that we were being rushed. On the contrary, because each course is prepared freshly, there was plenty of time to savour each course properly. We find with most restaurants in this area that the quantity of each course is too much but not here; we could both eat three courses and not feel over full at the end of the meal. Each dish used the best ingredients, was cooked to perfection and presented elegantly. My thanks to the beautiful Danni for making our dining experience even more special.
Lovely ambience, warm and welcoming. Food excellent and beautifully presented. Service friendly and discreet.
Excellent last minute booking, fantastic food, absolutely delicious. Highly recommend this restaurant
Great food and wine, fantastic service. Been a few times now and always consistent. Emma is exceptional.
Found various great reviews on Trip Advisor so thought we'd try The Empire Room out. Delightful basement setting with quirky, somewhat old fashioned furniture. Busy Saturday evening over a bank holiday but booked online with no problem. Served by charming, unobtrusive waitress. Had three courses, all of which were beautifully presented and mouth watering, smoked fish starter and cod main for me followed by tangy lemon posset. My partner loved his main of lamb and local cheese board to finish. What a gem, will definitely reccomend to friends and will be returning.
The food at Easter Sunday lunch was lovely. This restaurant has always been lovely. I have visited on a few occasions and would recommend it.
Second visit in a few weeks. The standard of food was consistently good. Lunch offered a suitable range of options at each course using local ingredients, with an emphasis on fish. A good buzz of conversation and everyone seemed to be enjoying the food. Well recommended. Be aware, though, that the approach by steep narrow steps may be difficult if your mobility is restricted.
We had the set evening menu, as ever the food was excellent and great value for money.
A refreshing surprise for Thanet. By far the best food I have had, having sampled many bars and restaurants. Well done James and your brilliant chef! Absolutely delicious. I rarely finish a meal or clean a plate but this was pure joy!
Cannot fault this restaurant, staff are happy and attentive.
Food is always very good and comes out hot, great value for money.
A real gem for Ramsgate, I highly recommend this place to anyone.
We were craving some fresh fish and we couldn't have found a better meal. Lovely decor, friendly service and delicious food charmed this Londoner and her mother!
The food was delicious, the chef catered happily for my mum who has a gluten free diet. My vegetarian choice wasn't huge but it was lovely and cooked beautifully. The deserts were amazing- difficult to choose from as they all sounded so nice. My mum was given a decorated plate with chocolates on to celebrate her birthday which was a very nice touch.
Amazing food albeit rather pricy. A shame that you either have to have two or three courses as some people are happy to have solely a main course.
Enjoyed the food and wine. Service is prompt and efficient. Room is unusual with its theme of the Empire.
First visit based on good reviews including in national press. Well worth the drive. Good modern British food with a good choice on the set lunch menu. Well cooked and presented. Service friendly but not obtrusive. Definitely recommended.
Wow what a surprise, thought I'd arrived at some dingy basement jazz club but once inside more like some old-school private club.
Good varied menu, great food and excellent service. Will definitely be back soon.
Booked here for Mother's Day with my partner and our 6month out child, the staff were very accommodating and had a high chair waiting for us and some little bits for her to chew on while we ate. The food was fantastic, I've not had a better roast and the service was perfect, will be going back very soon!
We had the 2 course set menu which lived up to expectation. Well cooked, lovely sauce with the skate, vegetables just right
We went to celebrate a special birthday and we were glad we did. The ambience was delightful . The menu was different and varied and the food was exceptionally well prepared. We were so impressed that we booked instantly to go back. I forgot to mention that it was very reasonably priced.
Had an amazing meal on Saturday everything was perfect, thank you so much
In fact I am now going to book my birthday meals, hopefully we will get in.
a cosy restaurant, well cooked delicious dinner.
The fish was fresh , well cooked, with a delicious sauce.
My first time visit to The Empire Rooms for lunch with family and I was pleasantly surprised. Really good food, great value and lovely surroundings! Good wines to choose from too. Will definitely go back for an evening meal, as I'm sure it's even better at night. Good service as well! Really was impressed!
We were staying at the adjoining hotel for the weekend, so decided to book in for Saturday night dinner. We ate from the a la carte menu. We loved the fact that there were not too many choices - justs two meat, two fish and one vegetarian, and a good choice of starters. We opted for the sharing platter of desserts, which was very tasty. The house Sauvignon Blanc is well-priced and was very good. Nothing to complain about at all. We would return!
We had an excellent lunch with very good service .
The food was very tasty it also had a couple of really nice surprises.
We lunch as the Silver Surfers every month all over thanet and I am pleased to say The Empire Room was is in the top 10%.
My wife & I had a great Saturday lunch here with attentive staff and fantastic food.
After lunch we were shown around the hotel upstairs - nothing seemed too much trouble
Hi we had a very enjoyable meal only 2 courses and then made it in good time to the Granville cinema. There seemed no need to 'dress-up' at the Empire but you could if you wanted to- we were cycling over from Sandwich so no dressing up for us. The waitress didn't seem to mind our state helping us put coats and helmets away! The lemon sole and pork belly were yummy with fresh local veg at no extra cost unlike some other local restaurants in Deal- they know who they are. The mackerel was moist and delicious, the crumpet entree also delicious. However, the outstanding part of the evening was the superb Ortega English wine. Thank you we' ll be back .
Really excellent food - down to every single bite. Cosy, quiet, classy yet not stuffy atmosphere, and very kind service if a bit young/inexperienced (brought another table's dishes a few times). Perfect for a relaxing, delicious meal.
We have had a lovely dining experience at the Empire Room. The service was great and attentive without being intrusive. The food was absolutely fantastic and for its quality fairly priced. The menu is not cheap but is worth what you are paying for it. The wine list is short but good and even the wines of a lower price were of great quality. The ambience was lovely even though the chairs were a bit battered and not as comfortable to sit on for a long period. Overall a great dinner out and we will certainly return.
Food terrific and good value, service friendly but the room was FREEZING I would only go back there in warm weather!
We heard a Radio Kent program that was broadcast from there over the Xmas period, liked the sound of it, checked it out on Trip Adviser, liked the reviews and booked it up.
We loved it, the lunch menu was limited but better for it great value, very tasty and something to suit us all and the service was excellent.
We will return even though it was an eighty mile round trip and have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone, a little gem.
Went for the vegan pop up weekend.
The service was brilliant and the food was extremely good value for money.
The chef came out before every course to talk about how its made and where its from, which was a nice touch.
Nice atmosphere and an interesting historic decor.
Lovely tasting menu to ring in the New Year
Excellent food and service! The ambiance was calm and attentive. Excellent for eating good food with friends.
pleasant waiter, good size table, excellent food and good atmosphere
A really excellent dining experience. Unpretentious menu, really flavoursome food and very good service. Looking forward to returning to try the dinner menu.
