Ewe and Lamb do great food and it is a lovely location. I feel like they are still finding their feet in organising outdoor seating. We had a 2 year old and were seated in the drinking area by the car park even though we'd booked for food. The website indicated food bookings would be in the covered bit at the back which has access to children's play area and protects children from car park and road. So we had to take turns leaving the table to go into the play area when my son got bored. I think where we were may have contributed to slower than usual service. Don't get me wrong, Ewe and Lamb is a great place with a lovely menu and staff did try their best to work under difficult constraints. They just need to refine the arrangement.
Beautiful food - great weather for outside and the kids were well entertained on the play area.
What I’ve slightly marked down is based on the wait to be seated and for our bill to arrived (asked 3 times!)
My husband was also a bit disappointed that they’d ran out of his choice of main and then his choice of starter- so book earlier in the day if you want Fish!
Fantadtic staff and food, could not fault how good everything was. Perfect.
Fantastic food, best roast dinner I have had so far
We arrived and we were told our table was out the front, I explained I didn’t want this as I had a young child and it would be too dangerous by the car park etc. The pub was very busy and the manager did her best to accommodate me and swapped a few tables to get me out the back where it’s more secure. The outside area is ace (covid times) and there’s a lovely little play area for the kids. The food was lovely and everyone left happy and FULL!
First lovely meal after a very long lockdown.
Well done Guys
Lovely to be back at our favourite local pub. Great food and service.
Good food. Nice if unreliable service. But full of young adults getting wasted and jumping the fence to get in without appointment
Booked weeks in advance to be told there was no vodka, tequila, gin or jagerbombs. There was not a drinks menu to know prices and was charged for 6 smirnoff vodka’s that we were told were not smirnoff as had ran out and also charged for a jagerbomb that no one had ordered? Wouldn’t recommend to a friend
We have been loyal regulars for many year and have always given */ ratings after every visit and in recent times have always made a point of supporting post lockdown re-openings. We have always enjoyed great food and service from Claire and team till now.....
The recent visit was booked 6 weeks in advance and included in the booking was a request for a table in the marquee because of the uncertain April weather. On our arrival we were shown to a table in the drinkers area in the "constant" shade which was freezing cold. Despite my protestations I was told the marquee was fully booked (even though requests for it were not guaranteed). As this was a birthday celebration (as noted on the booking) we proceeded to order. Its fair to say the food was of the usual standard but hot meals quickly go cold in what was an outside fridge. All four of us were frozen to the marrow. £165 spent on a meal should be a happy celebration and not a cold miserable experience.
Its also noted that the Ewe and Lamb have increased prices right across the board since they closed at the last lockdown. The Pintora savignon blanc has been replaced with an inferior wine and a £2 hike. A pint of Carling is now £4.50 and a pint of guiness is only 10p more which is nonsense. The set menu has been discarded and the new "garden menu" is uninspiring and over-priced. We all know the hospitality business has had a very tough year but there is Govt help for these businesesses and the Ewe & Lamb need to recognise that many of their customers have been hit hard by the pandemic (I've not worked in over a year and was sent my P45 two weeks ago).
I hate to complain like this but feel let down by the way my loyalty has been rewarded.
Can tell team have not yet got to grips with working after Covid. We were put in the covered markee however, it was difficult to get attention of waiting staff to order extra drinks dessert or water. Staff could have been more attentive and utilised skills to see when customers needed drinks etc. Was left for long periods of time waiting to catch some ones attention. Service was so bad I really couldn't leave a tip, but felt very mean in not doing do.
Food excellent pity about the service, however, with more planning and training this obstacle could be overcome.
Lovely food, beautiful area . Friendly staff . Will definitely book again.
Excellent food and service. I would highly recommend and will definitely visit again.
Great to be back. Service was a little slow but it is completely expected with all the new regulations and staff. Food was yummy.
Fantastic service and very covid safe. Food was outstanding as always
Enjoyed breakfast outside, attention paid to keep area clean between customers
Excellent staff, very helpful. This was the first place out and a great choice.
Took an hour for our starter to come. About the same time for mains. Needed more staff. No one check how our food was. Staff were friendly and helpful but not around to check or inform us of the wait on the food
We requested the Gluten Free option, as my partner has coeliac disease and we explained this to all of our servers. However, we were presented with a gluten dish, which the server was adamant was gluten free. However, It was only when I queried it further that another server noticed the onion rings and chips were not gluten free, and changed the meal. This was unfortunate as my partner is significantly sensitive to gluten and could have been hospitalised if he consumed the dish.
Had patio heaters but not on so very cold and wanted to leave quickly, service was slow and staff looked miserable
I know the pubs are only just opening up but the service was the slowest we have ever had. I did wonder if they had taken too many bookings for the staff to actually handle. It was very cold with limited heating. The food was delicious when it finally arrived so may be they just need to get used to the reopening of venues & practise with hopefully make perfect. Staff were lovely and friendly.
Very lovely meal for my birthday with my family we had a lovely time
It is advertised that eating tables have heating outdoors but if you are a table of 5 you are put on a drinking table no heat no blankets
Excellent food and service. Have always found the Ewe and Lamb to be consistently good. Our go to when we want to go out to eat.
The service was outstanding and then food was even better!
It was a very relaxed and enjoyable evening with attentive and helpful staff. It was marred. however. towards the end of our stay when most of the diners were heading home. A very noisy and inconsiderate group apparently from some company came in and started dragging tables and chairs together making totally unreasonable noise and certainly not complying with any social distancing requirements. As your staff had been careful to ensure that your customers throughout the evening did comply this was far from satisfactory and created an unnecessary risk in addition to the unecessary and unpleasant disruption. This was quite clearly unacceptable.
The food was excellent and table service very prompt and unobtrusive. Great location and good outside seating areas to suit families; couples or groups.
Excellent meal and service as always. It was so lovely to be back after lockdown. Heaters and blankets made it comfortable to be outside.
Really really lovely outdoor space, they’ve done a great job!
We had a super evening, the food was beautiful. Unfortunately the gas heater was too close to the chair at our table and my head got burnt. I hadn’t realised the heat on my head whilst we were sitting as it was so cold sitting outside but as I got up to leave I felt my head was hot.
I ended up having heat stroke in the middle of the night ending in sickness unfortunately and a very sore scalp for a couple of days. So my only advice would be to be aware of the position and closeness of the lamps.
I understand also that the pubs are working very hard to ensure everyone is as warm as possible due to Covid restrictions. It was very unfortunate.
Easy parking, nice food, good beer and good helpful service
I'm writing this review following recent visit for a meal with my friend.
Very nice pub, outdoor dining was organised very well, also the area for drinks only in the garden was pleasant.
Food was excellent, I recommend prawns pil pil - delicious. All dishes beautifully presented and very tasty.
Staff was helpful and friendly, also Covid arrangements made us feel safe.
We had a lovely time - thank you very much !
Absolutely superb food. Table not in a good position but that was due to us arriving late on. There are better ones but they were full.
Very good though. Would highly recommend. Try the chicken Kiev!
It was my second visit with my friend. The food was lovely and the service was good too. I will definitely be back!
The food was good with good atmosphere with lovely drinks
Excellent food and service, excellent venue with outside seating
Thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Staff were brilliant and food was absolutely delicious.
Would have preferred a table in the rear garden, as it was an engagement celebration, but, it was a very enjoyable couple of hours.
Great food and service ... very well organised for COVID safety
Excellent food, good set up, friendly professional service
