The Exhibition Rooms
Our menu reflects the multicultural nature of modern Britain and utilises the finest British seasonal produce.
Whether it’s lamb in the spring or game in the autumn, our menu looks to the seasons for inspiration and often features dishes that don’t appear elsewhere.
The upstairs dining room with its long bar, leafy plants and polished dark wood floors provides a comfortable and relaxed environment that compliments our menu, and our Cocktail Lounge Bar and adjoining Courtyard offer a unique local venue for all types of private parties and social events.

Great new menu. Food was beautifully cooked and presented. The restaurant is under new ownership and deserves to be a success.
The roast dinners we had were very tasty and generous. All 4 of us were impressed with the food and cocktails. A lovely setting. The only slight negative was the service at times could be a little impersonal and slow. However, all in all we had a great meal.
Food was poor and service was absent. Plates were literally dropped on the table without asking if we required anything, food was cold and of poor quality, chicken was tough and unpleasant to look at.
We went on Mothers day which we know is a particularly time and feel that sitting down and no one coming over for 15 minutes was poor. we went and got a waiter to be asked what we wanted to order when he came over. we had no menus and no drinks. These were ordered and although took a while did not mind. We waited over a hour and a half for our food and then was told that there had been a mix up. we got the 7 meals of which all were warm not hot. We sent 3 back and they took away a steak which never came back The 3 dinners came back as they left just being put in the microwave which then made the beef not edible. We only really had 2 good dinners out the 7 and to be fair we only paid for 2. considering the restaurant was not full up the service was shocking and the quality of the dinners was really poor. Would not recommend at all ?? at the end no one even appologised, poor customer service
The food was good and the atmosphere pleasant. However, service was far too slow. The waitress was pleasant and efficient but it took too lunch for the food to arrive.
Sunday lunch was shockingly bad. Sadly the food has deteriorated dramatically. With so much choice in the area there's no need to go back again
Hi sotosg and thanks for your review. I'm aware of a couple of issues - which I resolved amicably at the time with those diners - as I try to ensure everyone has a great time at Exhibition Rooms... I'd be most grateful if you could contact me directly and give me a chance to get to the reasons behind your review so I can improve future experiences for everyone? Thanks.
Pretty awful throughout in truth. Couldn’t find any positives to detail. Food was bland and poorly prepared. Service was slack and disinterested.
Hi Amroussi, our Sunday lunch is by far our most popular and successful service and I think I spoke to each of the 120+ diners who joined us last weekend. I'd be delighted to discuss this with you further to get a better understanding of the issues so I can improve the experience for future customers. Please feel free to contact me directly so I'm able to do that? Thanks.
The staff seemed confused when we walked in, didn’t know who to go to for our reservation. The waitress was good, very friendly. The food was not good. Triple cooked chips were more like reheated kebab chips and the risotto was bland. Far too expensive. Won’t go again
Really disappointed that you had such a poor experience Alice, though I'll confess I'm a tad confused as we don't have triple cooked chips on our menu and haven't since I took over on 1st February.
The staff were lovely, so sorry for a crap review. On booking, we weren’t told that their license had expired, so birthday drinks were off the cards. The food was average. Pretty disappointing all in all, apart from the staff, again, lovely.
Hi Ross, thanks for the opportunity to update everyone on our License situation. We are in the process of applying for a full alcohol license for the new business - we've been under new management since 1st February and the red tape takes time - but we're close and I hope to make a positive announcement soon. I'm glad the team looked after you well.
Fairly average. No liquor license but only told this after we were seated despite booking ages ago. Bare walls, pop music. It has no identity and no ambience. Food was ok but not great and very slow coming. Wouldn’t return.
Food was cold. Took an hour to from ordering food to it being delivered then served cold, was not impressed.
Main food was warm, but tasted nice and was of a good portion. Waited 20 minuted for someone to take our dessert order after being provided with menus. Had to flag a member of staff down. 25 minutes later, still waiting. Flagged down another member of staff to chase. Went away and came back and said another 5 minutes. There is a new chef and there are problems. Not really a good enough reason. 45 minutes for a dessert is unacceptable anywhere. Had to leave as the car was on a timer.
Not the best of places, but thought to try as hadnt before. Will not rush back, but will keep as a contender if stuck for options.
Food was good but arrived cold and gravy had already dried on the plate as though it had been waiting on the pass a long time.
I was very disappointed with the food. For the starters, my partner and I had the ox cheek and pork terrine which tasted lovely however, for the main which was sirloin steak, we found this to be so fatty it was inedible!
I advised the manager that I wouldn't be eating the sirloin to which he replied 'all steak has fat in it' I advised I was aware of that however steak shouldn't have that much fat in it!
Our order was changed to a chicken sandwich and sea bass fillet. By the time the food arrived we had lost our appetite. When I bit into the chicken sandwich it was pink inside.
Suffice to say, we left after that.
Amazing Sunday roast dinner best Iv ever eaten out. Gorgeous starter aswell the chef is definitely excellent, great service
I have been here many times before for various events. The food was always top standard and service swift. However, I have to say i was left disappointed this time round, the service was still great bu tthere wa salso no one else to wait on as the place was empty. The food has always been great and was shocked at the food i recieved this time round, it had not much flavour and very dry with not much variety on the menu. I cant complain too much as it was a 2for1 deal through tastecard, but if i had to pay full price i would have been upset. Not to sure what has happened to this place.
Went with 2 friends for Sunday Roast. Was a lovely afternoon. Food was good. Service was good. Place was warm and cosy. Nice
Went for s meal with family & it was delicious, it was very quiet as they were preparing for an event. The staff were very attentive & the cocktails were to die for! Definitely recommend
I’ve been to this restaurant many times now and it has never disappointed. The staff are terrifically friendly and helpful. The food is first division at great prices and the room is very welcoming. One niggle - I wish there had been a light dessert on the menu but that is a minor quibble. All in all, a first class experience.
Table was booked for 20.15pm finally got to sit down at 21.00pm. Service very slow overall disappointing night
We have eaten there a couple of times now and there Sunday roast/lunch is excellent and good value. Great restaurant, food is delicious, staff are friendly and attentive.
Staff were very helpful and accommodating and the ambiance was just what we like.
I have eaten here in small groups of family or friends (6+) several times in the last few years in the early evening on weekdays.
I return here more than other restaurants in Crystal Palace as we enjoy the early bird specials: 2 for 1 cocktails and the early bird prices/choices from the a la carte menu.
-The Tuesday steak night menu is also great value for money.
The food is always good. Perhaps the menu isn’t exhaustively long but maybe that is why what arrives on the plates is delicious. No one I have dined with has ever complained about their choices, except sometimes that the battered fish portions are too large!
I look forward to eating there again soon.
We moved to the area just over 1 year ago and eventually got around to booking The Exhibition Rooms for Sunday lunch. The restaurant was busy and buzzy, which we thought was a good sign. We ordered a large bottle of sparkling water and 2 Virgin Marys. They didn’t have either but that wasn’t a deal breaker. We ordered olives which never arrived, and we waited 50mins for our food, which wasn’t particularly flavoursome nor hot, and sadly not worth the wait. I asked for gravy on the side and it came swimming in it. They offered to change it but as we waited so long first time around we declined. We really wanted to like the place as it could have made it on to our local/recommend list. We might give it another go, as we think it deserves another chance. That said it was decidedly average on this occasion and not a great Sunday lunch destination.
I went here about two years ago and absolutely loved it. Went this time on a groupon Boucher and the whole experience was mediocre! It wasn’t bad but the food was just okay and the steak we both had tasted “aged” like it had been there a while! Just wasn’t how nice I had remembered it previously! To the restaurant: please put the dime bar cheesecake back on the menu! It was amazing and sorely missed!
When we arrived we were pointed to a table so we sat down. We waited for around 10 minutes, during which time nobody brought us any menus, nor were we offered a drink. I asked if there was a gluten free menu as i am coeliac, and was told there was only one menu. I asked for gluten free bread but there wasn't any, even though I booked early and told the restaurant I had to have gluten free. Disappointing, as we have been keen to eat here for a while. The food was quite nice but the other issues spoiled the evening.
Used to be a nice restaurant but they’re clearly having trouble getting any business. We went there with a groupon deal - steak meal for two with a bottle of wine (up to the value of £26!) for £30! Superb deal. But food was very average. Over-cooked our steaks and the sides were tiny. They didn’t have three of the wines we had wanted so was stuck with a below average Pinot noir. We ordered deserts which they gave us for free as the steaks were over cooked. There were only two other tables!!! I’m not surprised they’re losing business. The place was deserted and no atmosphere. Very disappointed as we were there to celebrate a birthday. Will not be going back.
I booked a table for a birthday celebration and the restaurant was closed when we arrived.
lovely staff, straight forward food with the odd creative flourish. Nothing flash but good place to take the missus or meet pals.
My friends and I had a wonderful meal on Friday.
The food was delcious and cooked to perfection with elegant presentation.
It was an unexpected find . The staff could not have been more attentive and we didnt feel rushed. Excellent value for money.
Just wish I lived nearer.
The meal was ok, we ordered a cheese plate after the meal, we were later told that the cheese was no good, so obviously couldn't have it, which was somewhat disappointing, but these things happen
I took my parent's to the restaurant for Father's Day. The menu was not overly extensive but we all found dishes that we were happy with. My parent's being older didn't want a large meal which the Sunday lunch seemed to offer. The waitress was knowledgeable and the actual size of the duck dish they ordered was just the right for them. There are no soft furnishings to absorb the sound so the restaurant, although not full it was quite noisy. My parents are both hard of hearing and although at my request the music was turned down slightly, they found it quite hard to hear the conversation. We waited about an hour for our food but when it came we were not disappointed. The meals were nicely presented and very tasty. The waitress did forget to bring the wine we ordered but after a quick reminder, they arrived just after our meal.
Overall a pleasant experience and we would be happy to go again.
They didn't have a delivery of ingredients and there was only 2 options on the menu on that day! I understand these things happen but I would appreciated a call during the day so I could have had an opportunity to make alternative arrangements! We had to rush to find a different restaurant! It was my birthday as well! Wasn't impressed!
Really great spot. Great value for money, lovely service, a real neighbourhood gem.
Love coming here.
A staff member at the restaurant called in the afternoon before my booking to tell me they were actually closed and so I did not have a table for the evening. I asked for the manager to call me back, but I was not contacted.
Appaling.. What has happened to t his place . Been quite a few times . Never ever again.
Went for Mothers day . Asked for cocktail menu , to be told no we are not doing cocktails ( dont forget this place advertises as restaurant/ cocktailbar. Imagine our surprise not long after the barman was shaking cocktails .. Point 1
Pont 2 . 3 starters ordered . 2 arrived , no sign of the 3rd ( which just happened to be the mothers day starter ) asked surly staff on several occasions where it was and met with stubborn silence. We finished our starters to finally see the 3rd arrive. Advertised as a hot starter .. stone cold inside . Told them we are not paying for that
Point 3 . 2 roasts ordered (menu states beef/ pork/ chicken comes with variety of sides including stuffing) roasts arrive no stuffing. We call surly waitress over again , to be told Beef doesnt come with stuffing. Half way through a dish of stuffing is plonked down on the table .
Point 4 . We were sat by the door to the downstairs bar. We lost count of the times we had to get up to close the door as a strong draft was coming through. Staff saw us doing this and made no attempt to move us when the restaurant was no where near full.
Point 5 . Still awaiting a response from them following on from a direct e mail sent Monday .
I now know why they still had spaces for mothers day when other restaurants were fully booked.
With the amount of good restaurants available around Crystal palace , this place needs to pull its socks up
Superb. Delicious. Wonderful. Never, ever disappoints.
Really disappointing having been a few times before and loved it. We are unlikely to go back again. The Sunday roast at their best were excellent but several of the same roast dinners came out on cold plates, 10-15 minutes before vegetables, not as ordered in several respects. There were simply not enough staff, and not enough people who knew how to run the place on the day. Quite sad.
Not sure whether I would recommend to a friend. Food was very good but shame about atmosphere. We booked for 1.30pm on a Sunday and we were the only table there for a long while so atmosphere wasn't great. I felt the two waitresses were not overly welcoming and friendly. Certainly didn't greet with a smile. They spent a lot of time playing on their phones behind the bar which is a pet hate of mine.
The food and decor is absolutely lovely and the place has a great atmosphere. There could be a few more staff working there however as service was a little slow.
