A return visit and yet again it does no disappoint. I love this place for its coziness, really lovely and hospitable service. The fabulous food is faultless. Kuba is a genius. Even though we had the roast beef which is a traditional roast, there’s always a slight surprise inside the yourkahire pudding and the passion fruit soufflés are to die for. My favourite restaurant and after Sunday still a favourite. I’m be returning very soon. Thank you!!
Our favorite place to eat. The service and food at the Feathered Nest is immaculate. The welcome from the staff is genuine and warm.
First time to visit and we will definitely be back! Incredible food with well educated, informative staff. All went together to create a wonderful meal in stunning surroundings.
Food was excellent and matched our expectations having read other reviews. Service, although very polite, needs to be improved as it was quite slow. 3-course lunch meal should not take 2.5 hours.
The welcome from Carl was extremely warm and friendly yet equally very professional. His manner and style set the tone and the excellent atmosphere which was relaxed yet extremely knowledgable on the wine and food menu’s
We loved the menu with all dishes just mouth watering - the Sika cappacio, Kid and Boar were unbelievable and when you thought it couldn’t get any better the sweets wowed you with the Chocolate and Ovaltine just top. Top restaurant with right blend of Fine Dining in warm friendly atmosphere. Carl and the team - Thank you
Not the best or worse food I’ve had, arrived at 7.45 and got to our table gone 9pm, left restaurant at 11.20, don’t think the current system in place works, if dining there be prepared for a long evening, chairs in restaurant very uncomfortable, acquired taste food wise. Expensive for taster portions . ‘James Martin go back and try the menu now 7/4/18 and let me know my friends in Icomb did say don’t bother .
Excellent service and food - as ever .
Love the new menu
Wonderful food, beautiful presentation of every dish and all tasted absolutely delicious. Couldn’t fault it. Really excellent value for money.
HOWEVER, the service is terrible. When we arrived our table wasn’t ready (despite booking 2 months before and having 2 confirmation calls in the week prior) and 15 minutes later we were sat, but still had to wait another 15 to have our table actually laid and our order taken. We explained that we would prefer our meals to come as soon as possible as we had our baby with us, but 1 hour after arriving we just got our starter. The waiters were either clueless or arrogant and rude. None were at all warm, friendly or apologetic for the situation.
Real shame as the food is so good but I doubt we’d return after our experience.
Fantastic food, brilliant service. Expensive but worth it.
My first visit but definately will not be my last.5
Excellent service warm welcome and food that was beautifully presented and tasted heavenly.
A fabulous experience all round. Thank you
from when we arrived we were made so welcome, the service was exceptional and what can i say about the food apart from it being outstanding.
the ambience was so relaxing. cant wait until our visit
We went to celebrate my wife and her twin sisters birthdays and we all had the most wonderful meal and dining experience. From the canapés in the bar to the tasting menu with matching wines it was a fantastic.
The staff were attentive and extremely knowledgeable and couldn’t do more for us.
This is the second time we have been and both times were exceptional.
What a fantastic experience. The Feathered Nest gets everything absolutely spot on, from the personal call from Carl the day before to check on food allergies, the warm cosy bar, the stunning views, the friendly knowledgeable staff (with just the right level of attentiveness) the quality of the wine list, the incredible, delicious, inventive menu to our jackets being gently warmed in front of the log fire for our departure. Absolutely perfect!
The food was excellent, the staff were amazing. A very snug and cosy restaurant.
Absolutely excellent evening at the Feathered Nest! The food was superb - we had the 6 course Nest menu which was top notch. The 4 course would have been enough food but the menu was too good to not experience 6 each. We were greeted with canapes in the bar, amuse bouche after being seated and fresh bread before the menu even started! I think the food is Michelin starred standard! The pub setting is also great, not stuffy or pretentious with roaring log fire before and after the meal. The dining room did seem a bit quiet for a Saturday evening which was surprising, but the service was perfect and general ambiance was otherwise good. We would definitely return to have lunch (we didn't get to see the supposedly great views in the dark) and I would recommend to any food lovers!
Absolutely fabulous food and wine. Was here for my husband’s birthday with friends after being invited with some friends last year decided to share the experience with some friends too. Great service, had the tasting menu and it was just beautiful. Highly recommend this place.
Had set menu Starter and pudding fantastic but we both independently felt the main cours lamb was a bit fatty
Exceptional food and service. Not been for a long time and did not enjoy our previous visit but what a great meal. Delicious bread and home made butter, a lovely butternut squash soup. The curried hens egg starter was wonderful and everyone enjoyed the roast beef. Desserts were amazing, as were the petit fours. Top class
First class as always..one of if not my favourite place it eat
Food great, service slow. Took two hours for starters to arrive. Ended up having to rush the end of the meal. Waiter did a good job to speed up once we spoke to them. Lovely meal but little touches let it down.
This was not our first visit to The Feathered Nest and we had yet another fantastic meal. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The monkfish starter and wild boar were delicious and wonderfully presented. The cauliflower cheese dish was amazing & my husband who doesn’t normally eat cauliflower said he would happily eat it every week! Also the roaring open fires we just what we needed when we arrived - to warm up on a cold evening. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend a meal at The Feathered Nest.
A welcome return to the Feathered Nest, our favourite restaurant. We visited with our close friend and to celebrate my husbands birthday. The food as normal was exceptional. Key highlights were the grouse and stone bass, finished by their fabulous bramble soufflé. The TLC that goes into this food is amazing. Love love love this place. It's like a wonderful home from home with fabulous service. We'll be back.
Very good food, excellent service. Great decor.
Our reservation was for 7pm...we arrived at 6.40 and ordered a cocktail. Cocktail served at 6.50....we were given menus and asked to slow things down,...at Seven we were asked to order as our reservation was for 7pm. The Restaurtant was all but empty...hence no real ambience.
The food was fine...not over the top...as the prices were....we have eaten in the top Ten restaurants in the world...we understand good food and fine dining
Feathered Nest is our favourite Cotswold restaurant, in many years of visiting it has never disappointed!
The views are the icing on the cake!
Absolutely fabulous food! We celebrated our wedding anniversary there and it was the best dinner we had in our lives. The Chef is amazing – he came up with special dishes that took into account a long list of my wife's allergies (incl. gluten, milk, eggs, …) and still the food was delicious! The service was very nice and we love the place in general. We will certainly be back!
We had a lovely Evening at the Feathered Nest celebrating our 6 year anniversary. The food, service and ambiance was sublime!
A favorite restaurant where the food, service and ambiance never disappoints.
Great service good food but very expensive. Probably a special occasion place.
Best place we went in Cotswolds. Stunning location and food top top class. Will go back immediately when we return to the area - and intend to stay there this time as the accommodation looks superb.
A fantastic evening at the Feathered Nest on Saturday, 12th August. My request in advance for a table with a view was acknowledged and we had a wonderful view of the Cotswold hills as the sun was setting. The food was excellent and came with just the right amount of time between courses to settle a bit and enjoy the fine wines we had ordered.
Friendly and knowledgeable wait staff.
A wonderful night out with good friends.
Delicious food with an amazing view
This is so much more than just a great pub restaurant, and gastropub does not do it justice. It is a pub - with a beautiful location and a warm welcome (and great beer). But it's also a restaurant where the food is exquisite, without being pretentious. The staff are friendly, attentive, knowledgeable and genuinely care about your experience.
This is our go-to for a special occasion. It's half an hour's drive for us and we are lucky to be surrounded by great pub food on our doorstep. Sit in the garden for a pre-dinner drink and you find yourself drinking in the view as well as the aperitif. Go there hungry as there are plenty of extra touches and tasters between courses. Make sure you order coffee as the nest of chocolates are an unexpected and delicious surprise. Oh, and there is an extensive wine list for all tastes and budgets.
I know this sounds like a travel brochure, but it really is that good!
We have never had anything other than a perfect meal here and we adore it!
Wanted to eat here since I heard about the chef, so on a trip to Monmouth we took the opportunity for a cheeky lunch stop. We just had the set lunch (ceviche trout and tomatoe bresaola followed by quail and hake) with a bottle of gorgeous South African Sauvignon blanc (Stone of Life?). All came to about £120 which was a steal for the quality, view and service.
Excellent evening, starter of Sea Trout was light and flavoursome, Roe Deer was amazing, mains were Hake, red rice, prawns, beautiful, and the special of wagu steak. Desserts raspberry tart, and sticky toffee pudding.. great flavours, bold flavours, excellent bread, lots of extras.. had a great evening
The only minus thing here is the service. It does not match what they offer.
But then again, this could be because they sat us in the pub area and therefore, did not attend to us reasonably. Also, what's the point of having the longest wine list ever if there is no one to even recommend or discuss your choices/interests?
There, I have said my peace.
Back to the food. This place if worth the drive. An excellent addition to your cotswolds visit.
They have us salivating with every dish. Go in a group, so you can sample more.
I had a 30days aged beef with bone marrow and I can't even remember the rest of the accompaniment. It was as tender as marshmallow. Perfectly pink. My taste buds were rioting.
The starters were exquisite. The seafood ravioli and the pigeon were to die for.
This place has definitely entered my favourite spots for food.
fabulous Sunday lunch as ever! Highly recommended!
