Had a nice meal for my birthday good food good value
We had a lovely meal for new years eve. There was a lovely atmosphere with a peaky blinders theme. The food was delicious which we ate being a chicken and chorizo burger with salad and chips, and my boyfriend had fish and chips. Sadly felt a little let down on the time it took to order our dessert as the staff were becoming rather busy with big tables. And then we ordered a cheesecake which was vanilla and was very well enjoyed halved between us, along with a profiteroles the same again halved but sadly not as enjoyed. They didn't seem to have much cream in the centre of any. But otherwise would have been perfect. Always enjoy coming here though and will definitely be coming back.
Disappointed not to be offered the special menu . Apparently if you book this way it's not offered .not happen espically after live chat the person wasn't at all interested in what I had to say . Won't be going back
A really good value for money Dinner, noting that I took advantage of their November 'special'.
We visited for dinner on a Saturday night. We had a chicken tartlet to start. It had pastry that was so soggy we had to send it back. I think it had just been microwaved. For mains we had a fish risotto that was just mush and disintegrated in the mouth. We also had the small steak that was about 1/3 inedible fat. The puddings were however good. The service was really inattentive. They left us with our mains for 30 mins after we had finished. There were only about 10 other people in the restaurant, so it was really just a case of the staff not really being interested.
Busy place but good food and nice atmosphere. We had Sunday lunch and it was busy but in the evening much quieter. We stayed overnight in room 503. Biiiig room lovely.
Nice pub/restaurant near iow ferry terminal. Quite busy on a Sunday lunch time. Sunday roast and normal pub menu available. Service quick and efficient, but puzzled that you have to order at the the bar , somewhat takes the edge off of a "luxury" lunch. Having said, enjoyable and would recommend.
A good pub with a good selection on standard and more refined dishes. We had the fish dishes and they were delicious! V accommodating with the kids too, serving their food first.
Monday must be a bad day! We had to wait over half an hour for food , long waits for other service and we were given someone else’s bill. Not a good experience..
Sunday afternoon and they must of run out of vegetables from Sunday lunch as all of our meals were lacking , the vegetarian option was rice with some curry sauce . No vegetables so it went back
Lovely setting for a quick delicious meal. Staff friendly and efficient. Food came quick and was tasty. I am gluten free and they have a great selection of foods
Very overpriced, Mediocre food. Our meals were cold. Staff sullen. Altogether a never to be repeated experience!
Have been there several times on way to ferry, usually when too early for busy ferry. This was a planned visit, but plans went awry. Arrived VERY early, but that didn't faze them at all. Our table was reserved and we sat down. I had the lambs' liver - cooked just right, pink. Wife had the bangers & mash (small portion - 2 massive very tasty sausages.) Excellent meal, service and staff, we will definitely return.
Great food and decor/ambience. Service very good. Reasonable menu variety Although desert options did not appeal to me apart from the cheese board which I thought was expensive
Arrived slightly early but was welcomed by 2 members of the staff - shown to our table - went to the bar for drinks.
Attentive staff - ordered dinner an acceptable wait. Food was presented well and was very good - deserts lovely - just about perfect for an evening meal out.
Great menu lots of choice
Excellent friendly staff
Would highly recommend
Only complaint was waiting to pay bill with ferry to catch. Otherwise excellent and delicious food.
Lovely inn with friendly staff. Fish excellent. Nice for family and friends.
First two choices of food from the main menu were not available, having your third choice isn’t ideal!
Pay as you go when seated outside (i.e. no tab), even for food - the reason given was ‘due to recent data protection legislation’, I think someone has had some poor GDPR guidance!!!
Food was good, value reasonable.
Great food as always. Nice atmosphere and good selection of Food & drink. Peaceful
We had a fantastic meal for my partners birthday, really couldn't fault a thing. Our starters, mains and desert were all superb, I would definitely recommend the steak with a blue cheese sauce. It won't be too long before we are back I'm sure
Food excellent but let down by inattentive service. This was on a busy Friday night but still no excuse when waitresses were chatting and not watching tables....and we were close to the bar.
Had a great seafood meal here. Not too busy and not too noisy.
Apart from the salty sautéed potatoes served with my wife’s main course from the special’s board the meal was ok! They did bring my wife additional potatoes when she mentioned this. The staff were also a bit noisy, one in particular who had an annoying laugh! They we’re admittingly very attentive and polite during service. We would definitely visit again when here on holiday in the future.
Very happy to get a table instantly by booking on line! Lovely food and great local gins to try. Warm and cosy!
The food was ok nothing special, but it was busy and the bar staff could not cope with the demand, took ages to order and ages to pay. Also changed to an afternoon menu at 2 :30 with limited choice and only ice cream pudding there was nothing on the web site when we booked it.
We visited for lunch on Easter Sunday. Had to ask for the special Easter menu and there was a long queue to order, - though that’s to be expected on such a busy day it was a bit annoying to then have to wait again to order drinks separately. Roasts were very tasty, though our first potatoes were completely black - not crispy, just burnt. We asked for them to be replaced and got very pale, anaemic ones instead with no crunch to them at all. Everything else was very nice including the puddings. The staff were all friendly so all in all we had a nice time.
The food was lovely, with plenty of gluten free options. Nice setting and relaxed comfortable atmosphere. Lovely service from the staff who appeared happy in their work. Would recommend to others.
I have always loved the setting of the Fishbourne Inn whatever the season . It is looking the best I have seen it in years . The food was fabulous and the service excellent . One small criticism , I asked for a "nice" table setting for maximum privacy as it was what would have been my Fathers 75th Birthday. ( He passed away 2 yrs ago on the eve of his 73rd Birthday ) Intially we were directed to a table which would have seated the four of us but next to us was a table for 2 . I just felt my request had been overlooked on line . Although the table was pre booked we were only offered one menu and not the special 2for1 offer .
We enjoyed our meal at The Fishbourne this week. Nice to find a Vegan choice as it can be difficult to eat out at times. Good hot food and reasonably priced.
Excellent meal and service, though is was January, thoroughly enjoyed it.
Well pleased with recent visit will go again soon will try sunday lounch next time
We like the Fishbourne in for the ambience and friendly staff, hence we chose it for a pre Christmas get together. On arrival we were shown to our table. We were a little disappointed that items on the online menu were not available on the printed menu and the specials board had a very limited selection. Our main meal was a bit disappointing. We both chose the pork loin steak and were surprised that this meal is not served with vegetables and was an extra £2.95 per portion. Also one of the sweets was a chocolate pot which was supposed to be served with raspberries and strawberries but instead came with black currants. Overall the meal was tasty although the loin chops were a little tough.
Very good service nice atmosphere very clean and great food.
The Fishbourne is one of those rare pubs, where you are made to feel welcome by the staff,
who are well trained ( which makes a change) it's just great value for money.
Myself and friends met up for lunch -The Fishbourne has very attentive friendly staff. Great Customer Service. The food was delicious, so pleased they actually did smaller sized meals. We were not hassled to move once we had finished our meal and actually sat for 2 1/2 hours chatting. Not sure if this is the norm, although there was a good stream of people arriving and leaving. Will definitely make the Fishbourne our go to place with other friends.
Lovely Sunday lunch, meat cooked to perfection after speaking to the lovely gentlemen when ordering. Have been here before food always good, lovely atmosphere, charming setting.
Very pleased to say it’s our local and we've had some wonderful meals there, especially under this management. I’ve only given 4 stars for food as the liver was a little under done for my husband's taste, but that’s a very personal view. My meal was delicious 😋.
Staff were very friendly, and really appreciated the choice of large plates or small. Food was well cooked and presented. All that was lacking was a real log fire to make use of the decorative wood store!
Ambiance was more pub-like than I expected with a name like Inn. But that was a detail, food was very good and service attentive. And prices reasonable. Definitely worth a visit.
