I have sent an email to the Florence, the experience was dismal. I took my mum for her 83rd birthday, as she has been using that pub for 40 years! We kept being told our tables we were sitting on were booked! I saw people on a table with a baby from when my mum arrived at 3.20, up until the time we had to leave just about 8.30, as we had to stand in the back garden for 30 minutes drinking our drink, then got chased by 2 staff asking if our bill had been settled! Which was embarrassing and unjust, as we had difficulty catching any staff members attention ALL day. Not a pleasant experience at all.
I had been to the Florence once before last year, the Sunday roast was great. However we were sat in an odd location which took away from the experience. Last Sunday when I went again, we were sat in a dark corner by the DJ after I asked to see if there were any other tables available. This was a bit depressing again to be sat in a location that was not so great. The Sunday roast was okay. The lady serving us, however was really nice and helpful. I would not go back if this situation were to happen again. If I were perhaps, i'd go for something else on the menu rather than a Sunday Roast
This was my first visit to this pub and I would most certainly go back again. It had an excellent food and drink menu, with some very nice wines on the specials board. The staff were very warm and friendly and could not do enough for us. I would certainly recommend it for any occasion.
Nice, relaxed place to meet Friends.
Food is ok. Brunch available most of the day.
Nice decor and excellent food but a bit overpriced (pint turned out to be over £7 with service)
The Florence is a comfortable pub with a laid back vibe and friendly staff. Always a pleasure to hang out there.
amazing waiters, listening to your needs and special diet requirement. Very nice people
Decent food, pleasant service, overall good experience
My friend and I are both visually impaired, staff were accommodating welcoming and friendly.
Tables was meticulously clean, staff managed to get me another table when I arrived late for my booking - Thank you so much. Food and service was really good.
Lovely meal and felt safe especially in the unprecedented times
Not great service a few times I’ve been now. Food has been better too.
We were keen to continue the EOTHO in September so went here on Wednesday evening. I’d been to a MPCo pub for lunch in town three days before so I was keen to try a more local one.
The Covid procedures were thorough and the tables felt well distanced.
We weren’t in a hurry so the fact we had to call over a server at each stage of the meal to either clear away or order the next course wasn’t too much of a drama but it did become slightly irritating. Having said that though, each server who came to our table was friendly, with a little banter - which I like, and made for a nice atmosphere.
The food was tasty but not always properly cooked: the mac’n’cheese balls starter were fridge-cold on the inside though deep fried in bread crumbs; the broccoli which came with the katsu curry had a grey hue because it was overcooked while the cabbage with the main course pie, was quite genuinely uncooked … raw …. not steamed or blanched, but raw. The food that surrounded the cooking errors though, was really tasty and the crumble and chocolate brownie were utterly delicious.
We were promised a slight reduction in the bill for the raw cabbage but it didn’t happen and we didn’t mention it.
We would recommend-ish The Florence with the slight caveat re the cooking. Would we go back after EOTHO - maybe.
The pub itself is nice and the team were applying covid measure, which was reassuring, but the process for ordering a drink was tortuous. To the extent that we preferred to leave after the first drink, rather than go through the whole process again. Also the prices on the website did not match the prices that came up on the order app. As a result, I paid £11.40 for one large glass of average rose wine!! Not what I've come to expect from the Florence.
They have handled the Covid 19 situation very well. Really good welcome and service. Felt comfortable throughout.
Food was tasty and there’s a nice outside area. The inside is spacious and well decorated. Good social distancing adjustments. My dog was very welcomed!
Most food on menu not available just ended up having burger and chips. Very noisy in conservatory section as the door bangs extremely loudly every time someone goes in or out and shakes the external frame of conservatory.
We were recommended by a friend so had high expectations however unfortunately were quiet disappointed. From start to finish service was very poor, we were taken to our table which was around the corner out of sight, and given no explanation on how to order etc. After a reasonable wait on food, our roasts were cold, and our extra gravy we asked for arrived after we finished eating. This was a shame because the food was nice, especially the cauliflower cheese! The staff were not very welcoming, and seemed like they were in a rush all the time. All in all despite these things there was a nice atmosphere in the pub.
Food was great and came quickly, service wasn't the greatest and a little inconsistent but all in all good experience.
A fabulous pub. We felt safe eating in pub garden- excellant social distancing measures, tables are sanitised between customers, staff wear a visor, food & drink ordered via an app. Staff were pleasant & friendly. Food usual chain grub with good portions. woukd be a tad expensive if not for Chancellors £10 deal.
Some of the table and chairs were a bit close together considering the situation with Covid but otherwise a great time.
Good food, nice staff, well organized , very nice pub.
Had an excellent dinner here with my parents - food was delicious, all staff were very friendly and efficient, and it was well organised for COVID safety. Will definitely be back!
Lovely place , friendly staff . Will be back again
It was all perfect. Social distance and the staff wearing masks. All the staff is really friendly
Great location and has a garden bar! Would recommend for a drink if you are in the neighbourhood.
Lovely evening, well organised and felt safe. Great vibes
A really good quality Sunday roast with a hearty portions of meat - good value overall in an enjoyable environment
Will definitely be going back, great service and great food. Despite the social distancing/safety measures staff/service were great and made for a relaxed and enjoyable evening.
The first time we'd been back to the Florence post lockdown. The pub have handled everything really well keeping to the guidelines and everywhere very clean. Ordering was easy from our table, the food was nice - we just had nibbles - and the staff were super helpful and fun! A good time had.
Fortunate enough to get seated in the garden during a sunny evening, which helped with the chilled laid back ambiance in this place. Staff were very friendly and helpful, everywhere was clean and the pub was well spaced out which felt safe during these wild weird covid days
I had my first date with a hottie and this boozer helped me win her over for a second date, which has lead to a third etc ....PM me for me details hun
Food was really good, great choice of drinks i will definitely return (hopefully with the same date)
Roast dinners are delicious. The veggie wellington was flavourful with lots of yummy pastry - which was a nice surprise as lots of veggie wellingtons are wet and flavourless. The staff were friendly and attentive. Overall a perfect first pub roast since lockdown.
Lovely pub with great atmosphere and perfect location next to the park. Would come back for drinks with friends but the roast dinner was disappointing.
Had a delicious Sunday lunch with the family in the garden.
Just a little surprised they never took my details for possible track and trace in these covid times. It was mentioned when we arrived but our details were not taken
Lovely vegan burger and fantastic service. Great place to eat/drink.
Really pleasant place as usual serving tasty food and drink.
The real credit goes to the staff for managing their guests so professionally while still maintaining a warm welcome in what are still very trying times
Went there on a Sunday afternoon for a Sunday roast date with my partner.
Food was amazing (as usual) the staff is great, friendly and funny and they really look after customers. A proper treat, we left happy and relaxed! Thank you so much!
Service wasn’t good, not very attentive. Average food
Lovely place, would recommend. Tasty food too and dog friendly
Friendly Staff, lovely atmosphere and quiet well laid out for social distancing, even indoors.
