We ordered our food but it came out incredibly quickly, to the point we wondered if it had been sat on standby. . . The beetroot burger had one slice of tomato and one leaf inside. Nothing else which was a bit of a shame. The fries also came out underdone, and didnt look very cooked. Skin on fries would have added to the overall dish. For the burger to also not come with chips as a standard, was a bit cheeky to then charge £11 for. Especially considering the burger didnt come with anything "interesting" or unique within it.
A little bit more effort could be applied to thinking of interesting concepts for vegetarian food, but overall the place was good fun.
Food was really bad, booking was at 9:30( dinner time) and we could order more food after 10.. really bad, only 2 dessert available out of 4, drinks presentation( gin tonic) really poor presentation on a small glass. Honestly I was expecting more fron drake and morgan..
Lovely place. Pretty busy and loud but manageable for a Friday night dinner.
Good morning, Thank you for your review. We appreciate your feedback. The Folly x
I've always loved the breakfast menu at The Folly, but this time around it just seemed a bit less amazing; fried egg wasn't great, black pudding was tiny etc. It was still OK, but I feel like it used to be way better in the past. I guess Brexit is making everything more expensive so they're cutting back on quality and quantity. It'll be the same story everywhere.
Beautiful restaurant but very poor food quality. Dry, Salty, not fresh, wouldn't eat there again. But would go for drinks!
Always a pleasant, relaxing environment. The service is attentive without being oppressive, he food is fresh and tasty and not pricey. All in all, a great place to meet friends or to have a business lunch
Good afternoon, Thank you for your lovely review. We appreciate your feedback. We hope to see you soon. The Folly x
Great menu, and scrummy food in a huge bar with a great ambience. Only thing I didn't like is the automatic 12.5% tip. Should be discretionary.
Good evening Wobi, Thank you for providing us with your feedback. We hope to see you soon. The Folly x
The restaurant is a good place to have a business lunch as well as having a family meal, the vibe is perfect for any occasion, the food was amazing the staff were friendly. Would definitely go again. highly recommend it.
The dish I ordered was strikingly too small and both the rice and the bread too dry (I had fish curry)
Food was pleasant but there was a horrible smell where we were sitting which was unappealing - smelt like rubbish. The balsamic chicken was nice, flatbread was tasteless and the dough was not cooked all the way through.
We went for a b-day dinner, were seated at a long table, after notifying the hostess about a couple of dropouts, she was very nice and moved us to a desired table immediately.
We were served by a supervisor ?, he kept getting our drinks orders wrong, or forgot to put them through entirely, or brought over drinks that we never ordered & left them on the bill, left us at the table with empty plates for 20 minutes and when finally got to clear the table, we asked for dessert menus which he immediately forgot as we seen him walking around, speaking to other staff, etc... thank god for another waiter who we managed to grab and he was very sweet and prompt to take our order.
Maybe we just went on a wrong night or it was a bad day for the supervisor but we left a bit disappointed as it’s not what we’re normally used to at any other Drake & Morgan site.
Terrible service. Firstly ordered a round of drinks to the table, two of the drinks consisted of one dark rum and one southern comfort. The rum was correct, however the other drink was not Southern Comfort. I told the waiter this, he told me it was and that I had just mixed the drinks around (i had already checked both drinks to figure out which one was which). I told him again that it wasn't southern comfort, he then went to the bar and asked, he came back and told me it was southern comfort and told me again that I had mixed up the two drinks. My mum has been drinking southern comfort for 45 years, she knows it was not southern comfort! I told him again it was not southern comfort (I spoke to him calmly, there was no argumentative tone), he went to the bar again, came back and told me it was, but the glass down and just walked away. Absolutely terrible, so rude, I just couldn't believe it! My mum didn't want a fuss so just drank whatever it was that was in the glass. I was so angry but didn't pursue it any further as we had already wasted a few minutes at this point.
We ordered starters and mains, one of the starters that was brought out was wrong but this was changed without a fuss. One of the steaks was cooked at wrong temperature, we ordered two medium steaks, one came out well done, the other cooked perfectly medium as ordered. I called the same waiter to show him, he proceeded to tell me that it was medium until I showed and compared the other medium steak to him. He took it back to the kitchen, I told him I didn't want a replacement meal.
Such a shame the staff behaved like this as its actually a lovely looking restaurant with a good food and drinks selection. We commented on both when we first arrived and we're genuinely happy to have chosen The Folly to celebrate a birthday. Unfortunately this feeling was short lived. I've worked in many restaurants & managed two bars in my time and know this is not a way to treat customers. Disappointing.
Easy for a work lunch, good menu and reasonably priced
I've been to the Folly a number of times and the service is always a little on the slow side during lunchtimes as it's always busy however I was really disappointed by the servie on this visit. My friend's food arrived and the waiter walked away without advising whether mine was on it's way. About 5 minutes later I managed to get the waiters attention to let him know I hadn't received my food, without an apology I was told that it would be one minute. About 10 minutes later my food arrived (again, no apology for the delay) without the chips I had ordered, which took another 5 minutes. I understand that lunchtime servie is a busy time however I felt that the way the waiter was rude in the way he handled it. The food was cold and dry but to be fair I didn't complain about this as I just wanted to eat and get back to work!
The meal was absolutely lovely. High quality food and an amazing atmosphere.
A little accident happened. I had my margarita spilled on my phone and the table by the waiter and I expected some sort of reimbursement as it was still half full. Unfortunately I did not revived a new one and I had to pay for the one I have not finished.
Service was super fast. Burgers ok but nothing special. Chips were good. Would return
Lovely restaurant setting, but poor service all round, the waiter got multiple orders wrong, and the parts of our brunch that we’ren’t black and burnt were soggy and fatty. A few side orders arrived just before we asked for the bill as opposed to when we were eating. Not a great experience at all. Food is not value for money, especially with their full English!
The food was terrible. We had chicken and salmon for dinner, and it was awful. The chicken was dry and crumbling. Salmon was soso but i would not recommend it to anyone. We ordered beverage which was written as 'orange' on the menu. But it was not orange or whatsoever. The ambience and service was good. However overall experience at the folly was just horrible.
Loved it. Definitely coming back. Great atmosphere, good food and drinks
We really enjoyed ! Staff lovely , some small misunderstanding because of the noise and rush for some staff but overall great !
Pancakes were incredibly sweet, and this is coming from someone who has a sweet tooth! Almost inedible I had to mop up the syrup but atmosphere service etc was great as always
Great atmosphere. Food was great.
Totally recommend it.
First experience wasn't great. Batter on fish (fish and chips main) was very oily and more batter than fish. After waiting for 20 minutes, we had to ask if our order could be taken. Ordered gins after our meal that we chased twice (another 20 minute wait).
Would come back to see if we just came on a bad day!
Had a brilliant time with my friends. Food was great and service was super. Even though table was booked for a following seating we were not rushed, the staff kindly found us a lovely seat so we could continue drinking and chatting. Great evening.
The folly is beautifully decorated. It is just difficult to appreciate it when you are put on a table with a massive pillar behind you and wall in front.
The food was delicious, it came out quite quickly!
Staff seemed rushed off their feet. Had to ask three times for water and it took ages to place our orders.
Good place to meet old colleagues in the city, great service.
We stumbled across The Folly and went in for a drink which we found very reasonably priced for London. We decided we would book a table for breakfast the next day. Again very reasonably priced and the food was incredible. We enjoyed it that much we decided to go back for lunch which we were still on the area and the roast chicken dinner was delicious. 100% recommend and would definitely go back again
Just after finishing our food we saw a mouse running across the restaurant. Reported it to staff and their attitude was awful. I quote “this is London it happens” and laughed at us! He was really rude to us!!! I mentioned trading standards and environmental health they offered us free pudding, cocktails and we refused and said wed rather leave! They gave us 50 % of our bill . If there’s mice on the restaurant floor I can’t begin to think what there food storage cellars are like
Service was incredibly slow which unfortunately hampered our overall experience, as the food was actually very nice.
A good place to go for lunch in the City.
Service can feel a little rushed but they are catering for a lot of lunch hours.
Food is good if unspectacular.
Takes you out of the City and into a village like community
A very popular place, particularly at lunch times. There is a wide range of food to suite most people and at "reasonable" London prices, good selection of drinks as well. To ensure a table, it is wise to book, for any time from 12.30pm it is difficult to guarantee one.
I would recommend the Folly as beside the food & drinks, the service is generally quick.
Another 'Drake & Morgan' pub turned food venue with a visually appealing back drop. Food was okay and the menu the same as all the other Drake & Morgan venues, however, service was really slow.
Service was poor. Unfriendly and unfocused waitress.
I would recommend but with a slight reservation - it's really noisy, best to go later when it is quieter if you want to have a conversation. Food was ok, but we only just got it in time as a waiter forgot to take our order for main meals luckily the kitchen had not closed (but nearly), am sure it was only about 9.30 which is quite early to close. Having said that waiting staff were friendly and did get this sorted quickly. It's reasonable value and good location but probably wouldn't rush back, but equally would not avoid.
Very slow service and average food. We waited ages to get served initially and I had to wave to get any sort of attention from the staff. We then had to wait an age for drinks to turn up. Food appeared very quickly which felt a little suspicious, as though it was already sitting on a plate (it wasn't but I doubt it was freshly prepared in the kitchens). Anyway, worth going there for a beer if you can collect your drinks from the bar but not a destination foodie venue by any means.
Andere menu kaart dan online, niks op voorraad, zelfs bediening schaamde zich voor de slechte service. Niet de moeite nemen om er naar toe te gaan!
Really great place with lovely food and a great atmosphere but the toilets really let it down.
Fantastic friendly restaurant staff were great food was amazing great start to our London break and it looks so nice.
Music too loud it was impossible to talk. Nice and testy food but service was poor : a number if issues and we even got the bill of another table.
