Nice food and service although pricey deserts. What was poor was being given an uncomfortable bench to sit on and a door as a table - it looked like everyone else had proper tables and chairs - and we had booked.
good local pub with great menu and good atmosphere
The best Sunday lunch for miles around in a fabulous place, lovely decor, atmosphere, relaxed ambiance, friendly staff and the most delicious food. Love it!
Enjoyed our lunch at the Foresters. Food was lovely and good value. Only point to note was that from our table we could jear the Chef being less than pleasant to the kitchen and waiting staff. This did somewhat spoil the atmosphere as the pub itself is nice and cozy.
Amazing fun evening with good food and friendly staff. Live music really made our night and we spent 3 hours over dinner with some dancing after. Not the cheapest night out but we did enjoy a few cocktails!
We will be back, my girlfriends pie was to die for as was the soft shell crab starter.
Consistently good food, and their vegan nut loaf (unfortunately now only served on Sundays) is fantastic. However, their veggie burger is not very good and their on-tap beer selection average.
Food was expensive
Very good all round ! Thanks very much for a super Sunday roast!
Really very good food and friendly and efficient service. We will return.
Food was lovely! Perfect pub for a Saturday lunchtime celebration
Went along for Sunday lunch as it had been recommended by a Surrey website. Luch was really very nice indeed. Proper slices of meat with a good choice, homemade roasties and a great selection of vegetables. Drinks choice was excellent. Service was efficient and professional. The only downside was parking, there isn't any, and the roads surrounding the pub are residents only.
Myself and 2 friends booked a table for Sunday lunch and I have to say it was one of the best we have ever had, the ingredients were high quality and everything was cooked to perfection, on top of that the service was outstanding, friendly, welcoming and attentive, I look forward to my next visit
We've been here before and liked it a lot, hence we returned. We were made to feel very welcome on arrival and our order was taken swiftly. The bread and olives (pre-starter) arrived quickly, followed by the wine and the starter but it was nearly an hour after before the main courses were served; it appeared people on other tables who arrived after us were getting their food served earlier. We ordered another bottle of wine to keep us going in the meantime but, unfortunately, it never made it to our table. The main course, when it arrived, was good (as on previous occasions) but the wait had sort of taken the edge off of our hunger pangs.
We hope this was just a one-off hiccup. There was a small service charge included in the bill which we paid but we would usually bump it up a bit. Sorry but we didn't feel it was justified on this occasion.
Food and service were both excellent. Definately reccomend the food, it was delicious. Great atmosphere.
Restaurant was empty - never a good sign! Ordered starters that were then not available, then two of the main courses that we ordered weren't available due to the fridge temperature not being cold enough. The poor waitress seemed very embarrassed and gave us our first round of drinks on the house. Two of us ordered the battered cod which was well done on the outside but undercooked inside and the potatoes on another dish weren't cooked either. Deserts were OK and service was good but we would never eat there again!
Fabulous as ever! Exceptional, perfectly balanced service, amazing food in a relaxed atmosphere
Went here for lunch with a group of friends on a Saturday, service and food were superb
We enjoy going to the foresters as they do one amazing Sunday lunch. The service is very personal and very helpful. We would diffentey recommend this place. As long as we still get a table when we want to go:) 😉
Lovely food , great atmosphere and very friendly attentive staff. I will be returning very soon and have already been recommending The Foresters to friends.
Second time I've been here and it really is a hidden gem. The menu and calibre of the food served is on par with any restaurant in Covent Garden (but without the insufferable pretension or selfie sticks).
The menu is wonderfully diverse and real care has been put into the food in terms of cooking and presentation (goes to show there is a big difference between a cook and a chef).
The venue itself has a charming atmosphere, intimate without being claustrophobic, make sure you catch the live music nights!
Lastly, the gentleman serving us (I believe the manager?) was great, friendly and full of good humour without being overbearing, really made the dining experience that little bit more memorable.
Long story short, when I'm asked for a restaurant recommendation, I only think of one place!
Our table was ready for us when we arrived, and we were provided with excellent service throughout our visit. The staff were attentive but not intrusive. We found the menu offered a wide selection that all four of us dining could choose from with ease. The food was delicious, hot and tasty. Good selection of wines. No doubt we will be back.
Fabulous pub! Great food, great atmosphere and wonderful service with a smile!
Honestly, this was the best roast dinner i've had thats not at Mum's. The quality of the food was phenomenal and very reasonably priced. They also provide an amazing vegan option which was perfect for my fiancé. The staff we're so kind, enthusiastic, and pleasant. Excellent selection of beers, wines, and spirits. Can't wait to come back again.
I was tempted not to write a review because we want to keep this place all to ourselves as an amazing best-kept secret! That's because The Forester's is absolutely fabulous - from its totally unexpected, slightly eccentric and luscious decor, to its friendly, attentive, efficient staff, to its rather splendid manageress, to undoubtedly the best Sunday lunch either of us have ever had. It's a real gem & I really hope the masses don't find out about it!!!
Lovely food and the friendliest staff!
Great atmosphere. Will be back.
AMAZING meal. We went for lunch on bank holiday Monday and were not disappointed. It's a really cute little pub, with tasteful decor and the food is incredible. I had a delicious lamb pie and my partner had balti sausages with coriander mash. There was also a divine, cheesy crusty garlic bread - best garlic bread i've ever had. Will definitely be coming back!
Having had Sunday lunch here many times (and no hesitation in recommending it), we were very disappointed by our Friday lunchtime meal. The pie of the day (lamb with mozzarella and filo pastry) was ok, but nothing special. The veggie burger was dry and grainy, disintegrating as I ate it. Only an extra helping of guacamole made it edible, to be honest. And no salad in the bun to help it down. Such a shame. We'll stick to Sunday lunchtimes in future.
I love the atmosphere and decor in here, really cosy and atmospheric, a perfect setting for Sunday lunch. The staff were amazing, very attentative and energetic.
We enjoyed our roast dinner and our table was right by the fire which was lovely.
The service was too slow, but the food was as excellent as always.
Great atmosphere and food. Service was also good. Braised Ox cheeks were very tasty.
Lovely meal and wine, reasonable prices and lovely ambience and service.
Service asked us to move the chairs more far away from the fire so customers can walk to the bathroom. But right behind me was easily access the bathroom. So since Waitress mention me her complaint i felt not comortable anymote.Restaurant had only one full table other tables were empty. Daily soup tasted horrible. Better I have not tried the second meal.
There is one thing I don't like on this menu: the mint sauce. I like the authentic stuff; fresh mint chopped on a wooden board, with good, raw cane sugar, etc......the way my dad taught me to make it.
The context, though, is that this is the only criticism I've ever had of this perfect pub, in many years of eating there. We've probably had a dozen Sunday dinners, often with walking chums, with family and with children who liked fine dining..........
A welcome, here, is a proper pub welcome, from a guvnor who knows what he's doing. Young staff are friendly and chatty with customers.
And the Sunday roast is perfect; beef is melting, roasties are crunchy and the gravy is narcotic.
The wine list is great. The music is never less than excellent - unobtrusive but high quality and mellow.
Now, does anyone want to come and visit us, or walk with us, every weekend in 2018, so's we always have an excuse to go here? I thank you.
Loved once again to be here
Valentines dinner with live music
Perfect in all aspects
Obrigado Thank You
Lovely service, lovely food, lovely night out. Given plenty of time to enjoy but well cared for.
Fantastic food and wine and the staff looked after us throughout the afternoon.
Lovely little snug area for relaxing after the meal
My partner and I had the Sunday lunch at The Foresters. And it's the best Sunday roast I have had in a long time. I had the lamb and my partner had the nut roast. The considering how busy it was - they also provided a good service.
Lovely Sunday lunch here with the kids. Only Sunday lunches are offered on Sundays (with a fish and veggie option), so the kids were disappointed not to have chicken nuggets (!), but they both loved their mini roasts. The staff were all great, just the right amount of attentive and very helpful. Puddings were delicious and a nice selection. Good wine list. Love the ambience in the Foresters - will certainly be going back.
Great Sunday Lunch venue, very chilled atmosphere - will be back!!
We booked for Friday 7.15pm and really enjoyed a tasty, well presented, and fairly priced meal. We certainly plan to go back. It was the first time we had been there having been recommended it and we weren’t disappointed. Great find 👍🏻
