The Four Lanterns
Cosy and comfy restaurant with relaxing atmosphere. Very good quality food, generous portions and reasonable prices. Great location.
Food is ok. Just the service of the waiter was truly rude, first time i've not tipped in years!
Wouldn't recommend it.
Charming old world Greek with an entertaining own. Good pricing, in particular on wines. Busy with locals, always a good sign. Some of the specials unavailable but still plenty of choice.
Went on a Saturday evening and apart from our table of 4 the restaurant was quiet with no atmosphere. We were having a girls night out so enjoyed ourselves regardless.
Great menu choices, went for a selection of starters to share and enjoyed everything especially the sausages and dolmades (vine leaves).
My main course of Lamb was beautifully cooked but only came with 3 roast potatoes and no vegetables.
I cant comment on dessert because we were not given any dessert menus. We sat talking for quite a while but were not asked if we wanted anything else so decided to leave.
Overall the food was good but I have been to better Greek restaurants. If I was in the area again I would probably return but wouldn't make special journey to do so.
I have used this restaurant for many a year. My wife and I had our wedding reception here. Staff are always attentive and nothing is to much trouble.
Rustic restaurant with friendly service, good selection of dishes and the food didn’t disappoint! Lots of flaviour and the meat was tender falling off the bone. Excellent.
Food was fantastic. Service was poor - the waiter was grumpy and acted like he didn't want our business
Adequate food and pleasant outdoor seating. But since we were the only lunch guests, the non-existent service left much to be desired.
Wonderful entertaining evening for September Dining Club. Great food, reasonably priced, cosey friendly atmosphere with a very entertaining owner! If this was local to me, I would be popping in all the time!
Food was very average. One waiter was on his first night and the owner who was pleasant enough.
Ok for a quick bite but nothing special at all.
Chef was having to be told how to cook from the owner.
Pleasant but average. Food freshly cooked.
Authentic Greek restaurant. Great laid back ambience. Tables outside on the pavement which was wonderful on a sultry Thursday night. Great food and proper Greek wine. Lovely. Will go back again, very nice.
We used The Four Lanterns as pre gig meal for 7 of us. The write ups suggested a friendly family run restaurant.... and it absolutely was. A lively joking "dad" runs the service... and the food was good as well. Will definitely use again.
A very amiable and nice restaurant in the Marylebone area. It was obviously a neighbour favorite as it seems most people knew eachother from before. This only made the experience more interesting as I had dinner on my own. This place is just great for that as everything happening around you made you feel a natural part of the scene.
The food was good, but not outstanding. As was the service. But the owner was a character and made everyone feel at home. So go there for good value food and a nice atmosphere. You will enjoy it.
Peter on good form: food excellent as usual.
We keep going back...
I went here on Valentine's day. The food was on the low end of acceptable, meat was slightly dry, rice was anything but homemade, it was just like the uncle ben's microwave rice I have at home, dry and processed. Pitta bread was burned. Chips were extremely oily. The service was slow and disappointing. Not the place you want to go to get your greek food.
We were a group of 4 and hab a great night at The four lantern. The waiter (which might have been the owner) made us laught the entire evening and he took really good care of us.
The food was delicious as well with a good range of choices.
A wonderful walk back in time to when Greek Restaurants were warm cozy and genuine with no gimmicks. There are few of these places left in London more is the pity. The food is excellent, prices reasonable and service attentive.
We had dinner in this authentic Greek restaurant on Saturday. We really loved the food and the staff made our experience enjoyable. The owner is very very friendly and funny. I recommend the restaurant, fresh food, nice staff, cosy ambience and definitely a must if you want some great greek food in London. We will definitely go again!
We had an excellent lunch at the Four Lanterns last week. The food was delicious, piping hot and there was plenty of it. Our waiter, Tassos, recommended a Greek white wine which was excellent and he let us try it first to see if we would like it. He was very personable and friendly throughout the meal and provided excellent service. The chef was also friendly and as we were in no rush they gave us a break during courses asking when we were ready for the main course. i will definitely go back!
Works Xmas lunch - delicious
I booked this restaurant for ten people to celebrate two birthdays. An issue with their booking system meant that they didn't have a table for us and we were consequently moved downstairs, in the dark, to be seated among a 50 strong rugby get together. Our tabled were positioned in a dark corner and across a fire exit. The waitress was confused with what dishes she was giving us and brought us the wrong items.
Fortunately, we were able to see through this and had a good time but I wouldn't recommend this restaurant.
We loved the four lanterns. The food was very tasty and good. The service absolutely great.
Good authentic Greek Cypriot restaurant, all the classics on the menu, excellent sardines, mixed mezes and grilled souvlaki.
Strong and reasonably priced Greek wine list.
Service was quick, friendly and attentive.
We came here as a previous reviews from trip advisor and honesty it was delicious and worth a visit definitely....warm welcome from staff and quick attentive service despite they are very busy...food was stunning fresh and perfectly cooked...highly recommended place
We all love greek food and being from Australia we missed our favourite greek restaurant. Well the four lanterns has just become our favourite in London. Not only did it cater for all our choice dishes but the whole atmosphere of the venue reminded us of home in a funny way. The food was amazing and the staff were very accomodating. It was an all round great meal at an amazing hidden gem of London. 5 stars all round.
The clientele are locals - not tourists it exists on good food , good service and reasonable prices! They have good outside seating on dummer nights.
Always enjoy a visit to the 4 Lanterns, delicious Greek food in a relaxed atmosphere!
Ideal for a business lunch.Although we both had the meat dish next time I will go for the fish, looked great.
Very good value for money, will definitely go again.
The food was delicious, the staff were great fun and provided us with good recommendations. Great for a group!
I have been dining at the Four Lanterns for over 25 years and I have yet o be disappointed. The owner Peter always offers friendly welcome and , in my case , knows the food I like and how I like them presented. I have taken many friends there . for the first time, and have heard nothing but praise.
Very cozy restaurant. The food was excellent and the staff very friendly. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to my family and friends.
Another great night recently at the Four Lanterns with old work colleagues. The owner is always welcoming and on good form. Plenty of banter and interaction with the table. The table staff are friendly and very efficient. As usual we all had the special Mezedes and it didn't disappoint. Multiple plates of delicious food arriving one after the other. Pitta bread, dips, olives, peppers, fresh and grilled prawns, grilled sardines, whitebait, spicy sausages, etc. Then finally the main, mixed meats dish arrived and it was huge. Everyone happy. Will definitely be back again soon.
Overall very disappointing. Food was worse than average. Tesco quality (if not worse!) of the tarama and tzatziki. Moussaka was a small portion, not tasty and clearly just heated in the microwave. Prices were higher relative to the menu on OpenTable and overall overpriced for the quality.
Nice cosy Greek Restaurant. The starters were great, especially the Dolmes which is one of my favourites. The dinner sizes were good. Could have done with a bigger range of whisky and scotch.
Overall a bit of a disappointment with some very good dishes and some mediocre to poor. Wine list was unimaginative but Greek offerings seemed reasonable. A restaurant that is probably living on its reputation, and has given up on making the effort. Even the owner could not be bothered to acknowledge arrivals and departures. Such a shame.
Was there at 7pm, few dishes were already off the menu. Not that many people in the restaurant but staff weren't that attentive and polite.
Wonderfully witty owner meant it was like a faulty towers experience. It was great fun. Hilarious and pretty tasty. Made us up with a table outside and furnished us with free twirls for dessert. Priceless.
What a pleasant surprise - friendly staff and great fresh Greek food. The meze special is so much food you will not leave hungry.
I have been to the Four Lanterns before and always found it a great experience. Somehow this time the experience and food was just so-so. My friends and I ordered the meze which was average. I felt a bit embarrassed as I had raved how great it was and while it wasn't worth raving about. Service was fine but not as personal or hospitable as I remember. Altogether a very lack lustre affair and one that I won't be in a hurry to repeat.
