The Fox and Grapes
Alongside our Chef's Seasonal Dishes we offer a selection of classic English pub food such as fish and chips and that perennial favourite: the Burger. For a real treat, we recommend you try one of our succulent steaks cooked to perfection in our Josper Oven.
Great place to eat, great food and great service. Shame there's nowhere to sit outside.
The extras are extortionately expensive. 4 pounds for a side plate of brocoli for one petson! A small glass of pinot grigio over 7 pounds, chunky chips for one person 4 pounds! It has become a rip off and as you can't seem to have a 1-2 dish meal much under 35 pounds each I won't go back or recommend.
Consistently good food & overall wonderful gastro pub on Wimbledon Common. Had a wonderful lunch today - spring lamb & first of the season new potatoes- heaven
we had a lovely dinner - everyone was super nice -
Dined with a friend on Saturday lunchtime. I have never been to The Fox and Grapes before, what a gorgeous place! Staff were very friendly from the moment we walked through the door, had a drink at the bar to start and then sat shortly after for lunch. The food was wonderful and service was excellent, cannot be faulted. We were recommended wine to match our food choices which was above and beyond.
A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon, great food, great service and great company. Thank you to the team at The Fox and Grapes, i will definitely be coming back and will very much be recommending to my friends. Thanks xx
Very disappointing service - requested a glass of wine with food on at least three occasions from 2 separate waiting staff - never delivered and then included on the bill !
Definite deterioration in service level based on recent visits
Good food and service. A very enjoyable lunch on a rainy day!
Menu choice is limited . Food is nice but not exceptional. Nice ambience and staff very helpful.
The food was simply bad. It is very easy to cook a good saffron risotto - this was overcooked and bitter, no seasoning at all. The panna cotta was served with rhubarb compote which was too watery. I am sorry - we had high expectations.
Relaxed atmosphere, very helpful pleasant staff and surroundings. Roast sirloin melted in the mouth all accompaniments perfect companions for the beef. Tiny criticism - the gravy needed to be a little thicker. Plum and pear crumble delicious. An excellent dining experience!
Excellent food, service and ambiance as usual. Always great to take out of town Americans here! Never disappoints.
Delicious Sunday roast. Lovely atmosphere, very cosy.
Food was terrible. Main course was cold & banana bread pudding was stale.
It's a great dog-friendly pub. nice food, friendly service.
Lovely food, but the wooden floors and high ceilings means it is very loud. We waited a very long time for our main courses and then forgot our kids meal. The waitress did apologise and gave us the kids meal and a round of drinks off the bill but it was still very expensive.
Food was good and we love the venue, but service was sub-standard.
Our main course took an hour to arrive, and my husband’s steak was incredibly fatty with barely any meat. We were disappointed
Good food, price reflects this (plus the sought after location). Staff more than a little robotic and it wasn't particularly busy. Overall, nice meal, but not sure I'd rush back.
The pub had run out of beef and a certain beer by the time we arrived. Then, beef was served to a customer that arrived after our party. It’s clearly a lovely pub, the staff were friendly. But despite my saying so no references was made or acknowledgement to my boyfriend for his Birthday. The ladies loos were quite dirty and just generally felt like they could do with a bit of an over-haul. There were piles of chairs stacked up in front of the fire exit too. Not only looks ugly, but a H&S breach. Only small things, but it’s the small bits of detail that make a place great, not just good.
The reason I wouldn’t recommend is the noise levels.. Absolutely horrendous, screaming children, ( one family behind us , 7/8 nth old child screeched for the entire time we were there, encouraged on by parents.) I was meeting friends visiting from the USA and wanted to have a conversation, nigh on impossible . Plus I’m not a fan of eating with other people’s dogs..It wasn’t a particularly enjoyable experience.
Lovely atmosphere in the pub. Has a buzz but not too loud. A lot of families with young children in out time slot (5.30pm), but we have4 children ourselves so was nice not to worry too much about their general chat levels. Food was nice. Service a bit slower than we have previously experienced, but all staff very friendly and welcoming. We plan to come here again.
Not the first time I've been to Fox and Grapes for Sunday lunch but I took some friends there and we all enjoyed it very much. We will all return. Food was absolutely lovely.
Excellent food and wine served by very friendly and knowledgeable staff. A pleasure!
We had an email inviting us to book for brunch which we did. And then we arrive and there’s no brunch menu! Such a shame as this place used to be great - great food and atmosphere - but lacking both now
Had the weakest most watery Bloody Mary I’ve ever had and a very average fish stew.
Disappointing that I fell for a marketing email and booked for a non-existent brunch when I could’ve chosen one of the many far better restaurants in Wimbledon!
Excellent service. The staff were very friendly and knowledeable. Busy yet relaxed atmosphere.
The pub was lovely and staff helpful.
The food was quite expensive for a pub, especially the side dishes at £4 per dish of one type of vegetable. We ordered tomatoes and received a side plate of sliced tomatoes for £4.
The wine was also very expensive with no reasonable house wine.
We were surprised at the end of our meal to receive a 12.5% service charge on top of a very expensive pub dinner.
Lovely place but will not be going back.
Delicious Sunday lunch! Would definitely recommend.
The service is incredible, very attentive without bothering you. Food was delicious and cooked perfectly.
Will definately be returning for dinner.
We had a delicious meal at the Fox and Grapes. Excellent wines and very attentive service. Great value too!
We live nearby and have been going to the Fox and Grapes for years but not since last August. Lunch this week was by far our worst experience.
The menu is boring . Service was cold and not particularly friendly. The food (my wife had fish and chips and I had sea bass fillet) was just about acceptable . There were no culinary skills here. The sea bass was overcooked thus being somewhat mushy and the fish and chips was over battered.
We did not hang around . On our way out I commented that the restaurant was pretty empty and the reply was "no it isn't". But it was pretty empty and no wonder.
There's a lot of competition in Wimbledon Village so FOX AND GRAPES, it's time to "raise your game"!
Food was ok but disappointed they asked me to move a pram with a sleeping child.
The menu didn't really work for most of us, trying toohard with your mix of food choice. Get back to the classics and we will try again in the future. Pity, as only a month ago when we visited it was great.
Very cute place in a lovely spot by Wimbledon common, does well off dog walkers. Food was all nice although I’ve had better roasts - pork was a little dry, portions were not overly generous.£34 bottle of wine was ok, puddings were good, some nice cheese served.
We come here all the time and usually the food is good but last visit it was expensive for the quality of the food we received. My kids had burgers and at £15 they should have been great burgers. My son described them as “like the ones we get from the football ground” which are obviously not recognised for their quality. They honestly tasted like cheap supermarket burgers. For the same price we could have eaten at the ivy cafe and had “the best burgers ever”. My food was really oily and disappointing. We have eaten really well here in the past but admittedly usually the Sunday roast. If this is the level of food outside of the Sunday roast I think they need to up their game. Service is friendly but we also need the food to be amazing at this price point. Three of us ate, no alcohol, two of us had starters and three main courses....£73....exactly.
We went for Sunday roast at 5.15pm and they had run out of roast. The menu is pretty poor and very expensive!
Not good value and very disappointing meal.
Excellent food service and wine list
A pleasant environment and ambience. Excellent and unobtrusive yet attentive service. Food a tad restrictive and disappointing given prices....ordered a starter as a main and yet no real thought given as to how this could be served in a generous manner...ended up with 2 very small fish cakes and a few leaves on the plate-not enjoyable.
The service and quality of food were great. Unfortunately some of the menu items had run out but that's probably a sign of the popularity of the place!
It felt like more of a restaurant than a pub - we went on a very busy sunday lunchtime and staff were a bit distracted. But the food was good and you can take your dog in so all in all it was an enjoyable experience
Great gastronomic pub
