The Fox and Grapes
Alongside our Chef's Seasonal Dishes we offer a selection of classic English pub food such as fish and chips and that perennial favourite: the Burger. For a real treat, we recommend you try one of our succulent steaks cooked to perfection in our Josper Oven.
Delicious Sunday lunch! Would definitely recommend.
The service is incredible, very attentive without bothering you. Food was delicious and cooked perfectly.
Will definately be returning for dinner.
We live nearby and have been going to the Fox and Grapes for years but not since last August. Lunch this week was by far our worst experience.
The menu is boring . Service was cold and not particularly friendly. The food (my wife had fish and chips and I had sea bass fillet) was just about acceptable . There were no culinary skills here. The sea bass was overcooked thus being somewhat mushy and the fish and chips was over battered.
We did not hang around . On our way out I commented that the restaurant was pretty empty and the reply was "no it isn't". But it was pretty empty and no wonder.
There's a lot of competition in Wimbledon Village so FOX AND GRAPES, it's time to "raise your game"!
Food was ok but disappointed they asked me to move a pram with a sleeping child.
The menu didn't really work for most of us, trying toohard with your mix of food choice. Get back to the classics and we will try again in the future. Pity, as only a month ago when we visited it was great.
Very cute place in a lovely spot by Wimbledon common, does well off dog walkers. Food was all nice although I’ve had better roasts - pork was a little dry, portions were not overly generous.£34 bottle of wine was ok, puddings were good, some nice cheese served.
We come here all the time and usually the food is good but last visit it was expensive for the quality of the food we received. My kids had burgers and at £15 they should have been great burgers. My son described them as “like the ones we get from the football ground” which are obviously not recognised for their quality. They honestly tasted like cheap supermarket burgers. For the same price we could have eaten at the ivy cafe and had “the best burgers ever”. My food was really oily and disappointing. We have eaten really well here in the past but admittedly usually the Sunday roast. If this is the level of food outside of the Sunday roast I think they need to up their game. Service is friendly but we also need the food to be amazing at this price point. Three of us ate, no alcohol, two of us had starters and three main courses....£73....exactly.
We went for Sunday roast at 5.15pm and they had run out of roast. The menu is pretty poor and very expensive!
Not good value and very disappointing meal.
Excellent food service and wine list
A pleasant environment and ambience. Excellent and unobtrusive yet attentive service. Food a tad restrictive and disappointing given prices....ordered a starter as a main and yet no real thought given as to how this could be served in a generous manner...ended up with 2 very small fish cakes and a few leaves on the plate-not enjoyable.
The service and quality of food were great. Unfortunately some of the menu items had run out but that's probably a sign of the popularity of the place!
It felt like more of a restaurant than a pub - we went on a very busy sunday lunchtime and staff were a bit distracted. But the food was good and you can take your dog in so all in all it was an enjoyable experience
Great gastronomic pub
Super staff and lovely vibe. Sorry that no Sunday Roast lefts by late afternoon for our supper booking as had gone for that reason as have enjoyed in the past. Husband described his Sea Bass as 'standard'. My salmon starter for icy cold - too cold to be able to taste any flavour and desperately needed a sauce - little bowl of something very like salad vinaigrette seemed like on the wrong plate and vegan main was a bit mushy and lacking in flavour or texture but as not a fan of steaks, the choice was limited. Nowhere near bad enough to mention on the night but not as good as we've enjoyed here before as our local. Kids meal was great, staff really lovely and atmosphere great so we still felt we'd had a nice evening despite not food not being that exciting on this occasion.
excellent gastropub
Perfect meal and ambiance after a 2hr yomp on the common with my nephew. Really pleasant staff, good natured and smiley. Much appreciated - thanks to the team in and out of the kitchen.
Food was very nice but the real winner was the service, staff all extremely nice and knowledgable, very impressed,
The food was nothing pioneering or paradigm shifting... but we didn’t want it to be.
It was delicious. It was simple yet sophisticated. Loved it.
Bavette steak - ✅
Cauliflower soup - ✅
Very tasty food and great service. Very dog and child friendly, perhaps were more dogs than diners!
Short menu, which is in many ways a good sign, but food was very nice, beer was good, and service was excellent. On the noisy side, but definitely kid and dog friendly, which is good.
As a first time visitor to The Fox and Grapes, I was very much looking forward to visiting. UI wasn't disappointed at all.
The staff are very friendly, the food and drink was excellent and the overall ambience grea.
Highly recommend!
Cracking food and service, glad to see it is back up to standard again.. just need to keep it there..
A lovely pub. Staff friendly and attentive. Food high end pub food do quite pricey. Chocolate cake was tiny and half missing ( looked like it had collapsed in the middle) so sent back and a marginally bigger piece arrived ( on same plate with melted ice cream).
Not a great experience. Three things that put me off 1) the kitchen messed up as sometime after we had placed our order, we were told that they had run out of lamb (and one one of the fish dishes 2) the music was too loud for a relaxed Sunday evening at a pub 3) they refused to accept my OpenTable cheque, saying their operations manager was not aware of the scheme. The lady serving us did her best and was apologetic, so absolutely no issues with the waiting staff.
Really nice looking pub, relaxed atmosphere and the service was really friendly. Unfortunately the food when we went really let the place down. The burger was especially awful- tough, tasted like it had come out of the freezer and then been over-cooked- nothing like the ‘homemade chuck steak burger’ promised by the menu. We fed back to the staff and their response was a little unempathetic. We were told the burger was ‘homemade’ by their butcher which I have to say surprised me. Fish and chips was OK, as was the sharing board we had for a shared starter.
Awful service. Very very rude staff. food under average and over priced will never ever return!
Brought my family here for Christmas Eve and the food is always excellent. The service was inconsistent and didn’t seem to have proper training ( reaching over people, forgetting courses and clean up)
Very friendly staff, all fantastic to our 2 young boys.
Great Sunday roast and fantastic staff - from the gentleman I talked to in order to make our booking to the wait staff. We are locals but it was our first visit - we will definitely be back.
Amazing service with a superb festive ambience
Friendly staff, enjoyed the atmosphere. Seafood stew was amazing but the steaks ordered were rather disappointing.
We went to the Fox and Grapes for Saturday lunch. The food was good, it's a large venue with plenty of space and the staff were friendly. The only negative was that there were a lot of families with young children so the atmosphere was very loud.
The food was excellent but it took an hour for the starters to arrive. The waitress who initially took our order was not very helpful but the other staff who served us later made up for this. Overall, the excellent food made up for the slow service.
Food very good and a great place to meet for lunch but parking now difficult particularly 2:30-6:30 with residents only zone.
Great food, wine and service.
Great afternoon for my other halves birthday and one of the best roasts around.
Been here a couple of times and really enjoy going. The food is lovely, great friendly service and a lovely spot for Sunday lunch and evening gatherings with friends.
Great food and a nice little restaurant/pub but unfortunately the service was very slow and understaffed even though the restaurant was not full. We struggled to attract attention from the waiting staff without standing up and heading to the bar ourselves. A waiter was sat on the table next to us folding napkins for an hour and even though he could see we were trying to order wine he didn't help us with the order or find a colleague to help us.
Had a quiet background buzz whilst we were there conducting a quiet conversation about a fairly important matter. All plain downright good place with good food but nothing fancy or noisy. Suited our purpose perfectly
Food very good, chef added tomatoes and mushrooms for me for my steak and chips. The fish and chips could have a few more chips and slightly larger fish.
