The Fox and Grapes
Alongside our Chef's Seasonal Dishes we offer a selection of classic English pub food such as fish and chips and that perennial favourite: the Burger. For a real treat, we recommend you try one of our succulent steaks cooked to perfection in our Josper Oven.
Excellent meal and service. Great location.
Love dining here. Great food. Service. Very dog and child friendly.
Great food, atmosphere and service despite busy Sunday lunch. I'll be back.
Really nice people and we were looked after very well. Lunch pretty good but under seasoned and quite pricey. Generally very good though
OK pub. Overpriced food. Almost impossible parking.
We were frequent diners here, even held a wedding party here a few years back, but after a disastrous Sunday lunch a couple of years ago we hadn't been back. Tempted by the new menu, we decided to give it another try. What a mistake! And where to begin? Though we had booked, there was no table ready (though it was a quiet Monday lunchtime). Welcome was unsmiling, service was slow and sloppy. Menu turned out to be disappointing (for us) and then was served a dish I hadn't ordered and didn't really want, but had waited an hour for. We left soon after.
A hidden gem in Wimbledon! Very cozy and village feeling. The best we have in the area
Great roast dinner and service just not a great table right next to the door to the pub so lots of people coming in and out.
£140 for lunch with 3 adults and 2 children, main course - children’s portions for the kids- and dessert only. We ordered wine by the glass and 2 pints of beer. Food was mediocre. Ridiculously expensive considering 2 adults had fish and chips followed by ice cream. Will not be returning.
Good location good ambience good range menu
Service a bit slow but enjoyed the meal
Really great food and atmosphere for a family Birthday. Dog loved it too.
Nice as a change from the other pubs on the common. Will come again.
More interesting than the average pub menu. Decent food and beer. Pleasant space, not too crammed in. Pricey but worth a visit.
GREAT food DREADFUL service !
We normally love this place being local folks. Visited last Saturday night with my sister-in-law.... just the most haphazard and chaotic service we've ever encountered there. Lucky we were not in a rush, so were resigned to it, but it marred the experience. Clearly short staffed on the restaurant floor. But worse, the main lady (blonde) running the place deliberately ignored us several times when we politely requested attention. She was far to busy hob-nobbing with the guests she clearly knew, to deal with other customers. It was so blatant and quite rude that we had to laugh. Get a grip on the restaurant floor please ! Or you'll lose your local customers.
Food was good! Waiting staff weren’t the most attentive but it’s New Years’ Eve so maybe they were busy. Generally it was fine. We weren’t disappointed.
We will definitely be back, the food was delicious! We are regular visitors and they always give us our favourite table, which is highly appreciated. The front of house team were very busy the day we went, but they were (as always) welcoming and took our order very promptly. The Kitchen team sadly were short staffed and this resulted in our food not coming for a very long time - however when we pointed this out to the manager, he dealt with the matter very well and made us feel that our comments were important to him. We also appreciated very much the kind gesture of the complimentary deserts, not necessary at all but very nice.
I do love this pub for lunch - the setting, the interior and the great food but the last couple of times I've been I'm afraid it has felt more like a creche. I have teenage children myself so I'm certainly not averse to youth in restaurants but perhaps keep one side of the pub for those with under 5s and don't allow a table of adults to sit all their children at separate table.
Good when the kids can’t get WiFi!!!
Our favourite local pub, great food, a great pint and lovely staff
A bad night. Maybe just unlucky. Food awful, young truculent waiting staff more interested in gossiping with each other than service. Shame, always been good in the past.
Delicious food and quick, friendly service - definitely recommended!
Friendly and efficient service.
Good food, beer and wine list.
What’s not to like !!
One of the best Sunday roasts we’ve ever had. And on a very busy day for the restaurant (Sunday before Christmas). This is a favourite local pub and one we happily go back to again and again.
Lovely place and ambience, a little disappointed that on the main menu there was only one meat option, ie a steak and dessert-wise there were two of us and neither could find a dessert that took our fancy, maybe an addition of a special ice cream or sorbet or one of the standards.
That apart we had a very enjoyable evening there.
Lovely, relaxed and cosy pub in a great location, on Wimbledon Common. The food was very nice and the service was friendly. We went for traditional pub food - fish and chips / burger, but there were lots of other options available, including several vegetarian / vegan dishes. Nice place to stop for lunch after a walk.
Those of us who'd dined there only a few weeks previously and had eaten the chicken and ham pie were delighted to find that it was still on the menu. We'd enjoyed it so much that we talked the rest of our party into having it too, and none of us were disappointed. It is a fabulous raised pie, full of chunks of meat with a delicious sauce and made on the premises we were told. The accompanying vegetables were delicious too. Excellent!
The service was unbelievably slow. We waited 45 mins between starter and main course- acceptable in a Michelin star fine dining restaurant but not in a glorified pub. No apology given for the delay. We ordered small pots of coffee for the pudding - we hadn’t finished pudding before they wanted the small metal pots back- with the explanation that they didn’t have many so needed them back.
It was the best pork belly we have ever had. Plenty of fresh vegetables and potatoes were nice and crisp. We had a one year old who had her first mini roast. We will return.
Lovely food, atmosphere and service. Appreciate the vegetarian and vegan options. Like that well mannered dogs are allowed.
Brought my staff for Christmas lunch. Very nice indeed!
The food wasn’t as good as normal. Fish and chips soggy and I had the special of pork with barley risotto which I felt was vastly overpriced. The pub is lovely though with a cosy atmosphere. Generally the service is very good but the waiting staff vary in friendliness/service standard.
Great pub after a walk on the Common! Staff were attentive, polite and charming. Food was great! Overall now our favourite local pub!
Chose this place for a Sunday roast with friends, especially because it is dog friendly. Great atmosphere, very friendly staff and a lively buzz for a Sunday roast but not too crazy noisy. The bonus, they have the best Sunday roast we had in a while and we all agreed it is the tastiest in Wimbledon.
Great options for a Sunday lunch available . Hopefully now 50 characters
The ambience is very nice and the food is not bad. But it is so over priced. We paid £15 for the sharing antipasto which consisted of 1 artichoke, a few peppers, a small portion of hummus and 2 huge pieces of focaccia. The main courses were also slightly overpriced. I would go again but would definitely avoid the sharing platters. They’re not shareable.
The food was both unusual and outstandingly good!
I was in a group and there was only 1 veggie option which wasn’t very nice. Too limited for a vegetarian which is unusual these days.
Other group members food looked nice.
Delicious specials. Atmosphere was lively, yet with a low buzz so not too loud. Perfect after a walk on the common!
Food was great. Staff were excellent- attentive and fun. That's all it takes to make a good restaurant.
Excellent service from our local pub, the manager and staff were extremely helpful and attentive. Overall a great experience.
This was our second visit to the fox and grapes. It was very busy but we got a very frosty reception from the older man who was working that shift. He later brought us over our wines and he said one was a Malbec so I took that then he said another was a malbec, we had only order 1 Malbec and another glass of a different red. Rather than saying he was mistaken or that the order had been taken wrong he gave the off the vibe to take what we were given so we did. They were 2 different glasses of wine so the order was correct he had just announced them wrong. The rest of the staff where lovely but our interactions with this man soured the experience somewhat.
Even though we were later than normal - still plenty of food and the staff were excellent.
