The Fox Inn
Restaurants you may also like
There was a major problem in the kitchen when we visited.
This is still one of our favourite restaurants to visit when we are in The Cotswolds.
The Sunday Lunch was superb but the restaurant was so busy we had to keep asking for items we had ordered. The staff were charming but appeared to be overworked which, as customers, made us feel uncomfortable.
Having said that, we would still go back.
I think the proprietors need to be a little less greedy and take a handful less bookings or employ more staff.
Lovely roast beef Sunday lunch and delightful, helpful staff
Always good - waited too long for the wine to arrive but friendly and otherwise good service.
Love the Fox at Oddington, a nice mix of people and very family friendly so children well catered for.
Staff well trained and attentive, food fabulous so well worth a visit.
I would horoughly recommend The Fox for all occasions.
Sat by the fire and enjoyed great Cotswold gun followed by excellent cheese soufflé, COD and tasty Viognier. Lovely warm cosy bar and great attentive staff.
This place is just great. The standard of cooking is sublime, the service friendly and the ambience everything you would want from a Cotswolds Inn. Probably the best place to eat we have locally.
Excellent food and great service. Cram you in to one room at lunchtime though with lots space in lots other rooms.
Consistently great food. This is my local and can always be relied upon to impress visitors!
Cheese soufflé was truly memorable. Please don't take this off the menu!
One of the few country food pubs which has managed to keep its standards high over the years . Friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere.
Best cheese souffle iv ever tasted. Lovely building
Food was superb - endive & Stilton salad as a starter was excellent and cod with mussels & chorizo in a broth was amazingly good - we were at a lovely quiet table in a back room, quiet until a group of women, talking at very loud volume and shrieking with laughter, was seated at the next table - that, unfortunately, put an end to what had been a very pleasant meal for us, as it made conversation between the two of us rather difficult - others at nearby tables seemed to be equally bothered by the noise generated by the large group - there wasn’t much one could do except tolerate it - not blaming the women - they were just enjoying an evening out - but their extremely noisy presence did negatively affect our evening at the Fox Inn
This pub never fails to please. The food and wine is excellent and it is a stunning English country pub. Nice roaring fire although it was warm enough to sit outside in their pleasant gardens. Nice and spacey inside so you don't feel too close to other diners.
Delicious unfussy but fresh and well prepared and presented food in cosy traditional English gastro pub.
Fantastic meal with fab friends!
Food was really great and will definitely recommend to friends - we will definitely be back.
We booked a table at this venue purely because it appeared in a ‘top 10’ list email from open table.
Unfortunately, we found the food to be nowhere close to what we expected. My partners vegetable curry had raw cauliflower in, served with an extremely greasy poppadom. My fish was greasy but ok, served on a bed of cremated chips. My Sons steak was fine, but not worth £27 in any way.
We made polite representations to a male server, who seemed to be in disbelief that we were not delighted. He did replace the chips, but somewhat sarcastically pointed out that the poppadom had been fried and this is why it was so greasy!
Ultimately, the food is very overrated and I am inclined to think they bought their way onto a top 10 list, as there is no way they earned it, based on our unfortunate experience.
The only saving grace was that the lady who brought our bill had noted how our evening had gone and took 30% off the total. This was gratefully received, but we won’t be returning.
We were away for my mums 80th celebration’ Admittedly the place was very busy and at first the waiter was very attentive however we only had a main course and the whole meal took just over an hour and a half and despite being attentive at first we were then left to our own devices.
The food was excellent but because the whole meal was taking so long we paid the bill and left.
Great dinner! The only minus was lack of baby high chairs.
Usually excellent but on Thursday 29/08 it was very disappointing & noisey!
Perfect Sunday dinner!
Always top notch food , made with love , attention to detail . Local , fresh quality ingredients . Perfectly executed . Would highly recommend
Service random and slow. Been before and it was great. So disappointing. Will think twice about going again.
Only 4 tables were occupied in the bar area on a Thursday lunchtime but the food was good and the staff were very pleasant so overall it was a good experience.
Fantastic Sunday Lunch - one of the best ever had. Great atmosphere and service and can’t wait to go again. Exceptional!
I have visited The Fox Inn before, but was a bit disappointed this time. It was a very busy Saturday night and it felt it! We booked a table for 4 and when we arrived it was set out for 3 and it took them ages to find a 4th chair. Not a good start. One of our starters with tomatoes and feta was very meagre as if they had run out of feta. Would normally have complained, but reluctant to do so on a night out with friends. Service was polite and friendly, but incredibly slow. Generally the food was good, except my broccoli was rock hard. I like al dente vegs, but not if my fork won't cut through the stalks. Shame because we really like the place and the atmosphere. Will give it another go at a later date.
The service was a bit slow but the team recovered the situation and left us feeling perfectly happy. These things happen sometimes. The food is excellent and the waiting staff are friendly and courteous. Will definitely visit again.
Fun night out with good food in lovely pub surroundings
A hidden gem. High quality food, excellent service and a lovely setting. A must try if nearby!
A lovely country pub inside and out in a charming village
We sat outside on a very warm evening. The staff were very friendly and helped us choose what to order. The food was delicious - compliments to the chef.
What a fantastic place!! Had a fabulous meal. Lovely atmosphere. Highly recommended this.
Good food and beef cooked better than other British Restaurants. Quality was good.
We eat here regularly and it has been superb every time. The cooking is of the highest standard. The staff are uber helpful and very professional. The ambience and setting are top notch. Just a great place to eat out
As a regular visitor it was excellent as always. Always reassuring when entertaining clients, thank you.
Been dining here for 30 years. Always a wonderful experience
Atmospheric pub with a great menu. Loverly venue for a bank holiday lunch before going to see the circus.
Waiting staff very helpful but we did feel a bit rushed!
Delicious as always. Good menu variety, each of our party had a different choice and we were all very happy - one meat, one fish, one vegetarian.
very charming, attentive service, excellent quality; would return
