The Gate Bricket Wood
Chuck in some free wi-fi, freshly ground coffee, a kids corner with board games, and we should be all set.
We look forward to seeing you soon....
On ordering we were told few dishes were not available. Due to limited choices all of us ordered from the daily specials, three the same, the chicken curry taste was fine but the amount in the bowl was not even 20% it looked that one portion was shared out between three and the fourth order was meant to have stir fry vegetables but it tasted and looked like they leftovers from the chow mien which was one of dishes not available!!
Booked a table with friends for Sunday lunch roast and were very disappointed when handed a BBQ menu. The food was much to be desired and very basic in cardboard boxes.
Very let down as we had told our friends about your usual Sunday roast and were all looking forward to it, totally spoilt our Sunday!
Most dishes lovely but roasts weren’t as nice according to those who had them (my risotto was lovely!!!)
Really good place for Sunday lunch, both dog and child friendly
Love this place! Great food and great friendly staff who provide stella service every time. Thank you!
Great place for a pub lunch, especially when the weather is fine
Having eaten here on numerous occasions we were very disappointed. The table was sticky and I asked for it to be cleaned as my arms kept sticking to it. The waitress cleaned it but it made no difference. The Yorkshire puddings were burnt and the reheated roast potatoes were inedible,
Charged 50p more for the roast pork than advertised and for a beverage that wasn’t ordered.
Another relaxed and very enjoyable lunch with good food and comfortable atmosphere.Service is always friendly and attentive.A good place to meet friends for lunch.
A friendly welcome. Food is good pub grub. Choice was varied. Good selection of drinks. If in the area would visit again.
Our first visit with our dog to any pub - he was nervous & we were nervous as we didn't know how he would behave / react in such an environment. The staff were friendly and helped us feel at ease. We ate lunch and left, all without incident, leaving us and our hound a little braver and we look forward to coming again.
The food was nice, the pub is nice, staff were nice.
Thank you for welcoming us and our dog!
Fab food, team are nice! It’s a bit of madness in the front of the pub but adds to the charm! Would like to be in the back next time!
What a lovely place, the staff were amazing and couldn’t do enough for you too Will defiantly be dining there again!
Excellent night for our works Christmas doo. Friendly staff and great food.
We were recommended to go to this venue by a friend - they had said how excellent the menu and food was and good value! As a result we took two guests with us and to be honest found it very disappointing - first of all the menu had changed to a ‘festive menu’ which was small and unimpressive. A couple of mistakes were made on our order and must stress that the waitress and waiter did their utmost to correct these mistakes - so no problem there. However the food was very disappointing - have had better burgers at a fast food joint and when I asked about vegetables (this was one of the things my friend who had recommended the venue had raved about ) there was little information and as a result we ordered no vegetables! My husband and I were embarrassed as we had recommended the place to our guests and there had been other venues discussed! The staff were friendly and cooperative but sadly everything else was to put it mildly - extremely dissappointing! Although too cold to sit outside we liked the look of the outdoor area and would consider trying again in the spring or summer in the hope that the food would be much better by then!
enjoyed the food goo value but the service was slow if not snails pace - having to ask for drinks to go with the meal is crazy
Excellent lunch with interesting and varied choices.Service attentive and friendly and warm ambience.Definitely recommend.
Always good food,
Lovely Sunday roast in a wonderful very cosy country pub!
Iv been coming to the gate for many years but then it closed for several months but obviously re opened and been here a good few times. Each time myself and company have dined it has been without fault. The garden and surrounds are a lovely place to bring children especially on bbq afternoons. The staff manager and all customers seem friendly and approchable and are happy to assist. The lavatories have been always clean as with the pub and the gardens very well maintained. There is a nice selection of ales bitters and beers to choice from. I would find it very hard to believe that anybody should have any complaints about their visit to The Gate, in fact i have recommended it to many of my friends. Working in hospitality myself at a private boys school i understand the pressure on chefs hospitality assistants and staff to get things just right and you have just that. I look foward to returning and bring along some friends. Well done to all your staff its important to have a happy go lucky team you certainly come up trumps there. I hope you enjoy reading this feedback. 😀
Had an Irish family over, they loved the food and devoured everything!.. they especially liked the sticky toffee pudding... the best ever!
Service was great and we asked for extra bits and pieces and nothing was too much.
Really nice afternoon and it was quite late before we knew it!.. will be back soon.
Good food for Sunday Lunch. Generous portion, well cooked and presented. My only complaint would be served on cold plates. Waitresses very efficient and helpful
Lovely country pub, good food and nice atmosphere. We would 100% visit again and recommend to our friends and family.
Friendly staff, and the food was great too.
Value for money, great portions.
Going back there this Sunday for Sunday roast!
While minor hiccup in table being available for booking, everything worked out fine. Great service and food and reasonably priced. Very helpful in every way.
Would return again
Welcoming and friendly bar staff. But restaurant cold and in need of re-decorating inside. Not to sure about dogs being in a restaurant either. Food prompt and warm but average. Sorry to say but I doubt I will go back again.
We loved our Sunday lunch here on Easter Sunday - lovely cost atmosphere and generous Sunday roast portions - delicious all round.
Great Easter Sunday lunch with the family - a lovely, relaxed and family friendly pub, with Easter egg hunts and crafts for the kids. Food was generally very good for the in particular the very generous roast dinners. We’ll be back again very soon.
Very disappointing. Very cold inside and when we asked if the fire could be lit we were told yes if we did it ourselves! Meat in the steak & kidney pie was tough and full of gristle, pastry very stodgy. Cod goujon sandwich was inedible as fish was cold and looked like a random selection from the bottom of the freezer, didn’t taste fresh. Staff were very young and inexperienced. It was supposed to be a treat for a birthday lunch but it was awful - we went elsewhere for coffee and desserts.
Good menu with plenty of choices, also good food and excellent value. We had a long wait to get our order (40 minutes), but it was good when it arrived.
A lovely little pub with a village feel. The Roast was great and the marmite gravy is not to be missed!
Great Sunday Lunch, friendly service. Would definitely go back again.
Food very tasty and hot with good portion size.
Staff very friendly and welcoming!
Very welcoming, good food, Flexible chef (food not yoga related) relaxed atmosphere. Just a nice country pub. Will definitely be back.
It's always a pleasure to eat [and have a few drink] at The Gate. Great local village pub with great food and staff.
Lovely setting in the summer.
Most amazing fish cakes I ate in long time! Food was AMAZING! My friends suggested this place and I don’t regret at all ! Definitely will go back !
Excellent pub friendly helpfully staff good of good average quality need I chilli we had a little checker than normal and unfortunately had to pay London prices but ha ho enjoyed would recommend and would use again if I in area
Lovely atmosphere staff fab and very friendly nothing too much trouble. Great menu food good value for money. Have been a few times for lunch now it never disappoints 🙌🙌👍
Great find for meeting up with family for a relaxing Saturday lunch. Good to have both the regular menu and the tapas for choice and there was a good selection on both. Good service and weren't rushed at all and the food was great. Nice fire burning in the bar which created a good atmosphere. Would definitely go back.
Went on a very busy night. Wait was expected but acceptable. Food was good and plentiful. Cask ales were well kept and enjoyed. Great place to go.
More than pleasantly surprised by this unassuming looking village pub. Food was really very good, lovely menu and great service.
